Karen, I'm so glad to hear she's doing better!
Karen

She was very sneezy earlier today, and I told her - "the reason we visit that horrible place is to help you so you don't have to sneeze, okay?" Every sneeze, when she has multiple sneezes, shakes her whole little bunny body, it's so sad!

I've often wondered if animals can have allergies to people? My orange
kitty (Redbud) sneezes in a frenzy like that every once in a blue moon and
my brave protector Smokey, always leaves the room. :)
Get better soon Miss Hoppy.

I asked the vet at the beginning of this whole journey (near the end of August) if bunnies can have allergies. She said they can, but it is very, very, very rare. I told her I was just asking as I have allergies that act up in the summer. In Miss Hoppy's case, the diminished heart and lung capacity make her susceptible to upper respiratory infections. She was much more energetic today than she has been in a long while, so we think that's a good sign.

That is a good sign! And she has two more treatments I think?
If one treatment helped this much, I hope two more will help her be really comfy and back to her Miss Hoppy self! :)
More prayers your way.

We JUST got home - the Radiology department was backed up today. The vet was happy to tell me that now the border of her heart is clearly visible on her new x-rays, so that means the radiation is working, and shrinking the tumor. She was very good for the vets, too, and they all think she is very sweet, and know that she's a special, loved girl.
Karen, what Happy Hoppy news for all of us. I am sure you are so much more optimistic now too.
Way to go little sweet girl!

She was more energetic last night than she was after her first treatment. Also, we got antibiotics to maybe help the sniffliness and sneezing ... and she does NOT like this kind, thank you. We had to double-team her.
They used different colors of marker on her shaved spot yesterday, so now she's quite colorful ... when she allows that spot to be seen, that is.
So we have two treatments down, and one to go, but not for two weeks this time.

Miss Hoppy definitely does NOT like the antibiotics she's on now, so she'll let Paul fill her mouth with it, then just not swallow it for several seconds, while we wait. Then she probably gives up, swallows that and we do the rest. If my bathrobe or a couple of my shirts were ill, we'll they've had their antibiotics, too!

She's been so much more energetic, it's just wonderful. And she is very glad to be done with those nasty antibiotics, and only sneezes rarely now, so we are glad they won't be represcribed.
Tomorrow - Tuesday is the third and last radiation treatment, and I am sure the new x-rays will show that the tumor has shrunk a lot, at least enough to account for my quicker bunny! Oh, and as for your photo request, Brody's Mum, she prefers that wait until that big nekkid patch where they shaved her has grown in, and the fur that she groomed away while we did those nasty eye-drops has finished growing in as well. We'll see when she feels like cooperating for new pictures.
Such heartwarming news. It makes us all so happy to hear she is doing so well.

Miss Hoppy and I are back home from the third and final radiation treatment. SHe has more of the liquid meds to take, because she is still a little sneezy, but today Dr. Mayer brought her out to me in the waiting room, and let me hold and snuggle her while she finished recovering from anesthesia, which was very sweet. He is obviously a bunny friend. So several people in the waiting area got to see her, and everyone though she was beautiful, completely adorable, etc., even still groggy from the anesthesia. Miss Hoppy is glad to be done with that.
Dr. Mayer said we don't have to go back, just a three month follow-up exam, and maybe her own vet could do an x-ray then.
Thanks everyone for your well-wishes and prayers, she really is so much better (at least before today's treatment) that it is remarkable.

Same from me here in RI. Have a nice juicy carrot sweetie! (No, Karen, I meant Miss Hoppy!)
Karen
10-18-2007, 10:19 PM
No worries, Freedom - I am allergic to carrots, so Miss Hoppy gets to eat all the carrots I buy all herself.
I took her out for some fresh air today after her (hated) antibiotics, and two of the kids next door were just getting home, and Asia and Windsor came running over to pat her, and brought the mom and baby who were with them over. Asia said the baby "is just a year old," and she wasn't sure about petting Miss Hoppy, though Asia and Windsor were showing her - and her mommy - how, so I then picked Miss Hoppy up level with baby and her mom ran her hand along Miss Hoppy's back and she was delighted. So Asia and Windsor were very happy and Miss Hoppy liked being petted, and baby even waved bye-bye to us when we parted company!
Being petted by the children is MUCH more fun than taking her medicine! And my arm was mostly covering her "naked" spot, so she didn't mind at all.

It always happens quickly, and if Paul is even in the room, she tends not to play, so sadly, photos have never been possible. There's really not much you'd see from a still, and it's not predictable when she'll want to play - so a photo of me looking waving a bathrobe around is all you'd get. And the video camera makes a small noise, which is distraction anough for her also not to play!

Thank you, I will. She seems completely recovered, much more energetic, has even hopped all the way upstairs a couple times in the last month - which she literally had not done for a couple years. The first time it happened, we were checking for her everywhere downstairs, shining a flashlight into hidey spots, asking each other "Are you sure you didn't let her out?" and there she was upstairs, as if to say "What's the fuss?"
Her fur grew back in white both where they shaved her and opposite that spot, we wonder if it will grown back in brown during the "spring big shed."

As requested - Miss Hoppy's picture, now that all her fur has grown back in. As you can see, it grew back in white where they had shaved her for radiation, and it fell out and came back in white on her opposite side as well. We wonder if, after the Spring "big shed" it will come back in brown or not.

HANDLE BARS!!!! That is what those white side splashes are! Or flames indicating how fast she is moving now! Great to see her, you do NOT post her pic enough! Hi Sweetie, nice to see you and read that you are feeling lots better!

WOW!
:)
So there really IS a PT Wabbitt named Miz Hoppy!
She seems NOT to be a great fan of the Camera Box, eh?
And - are we OUTside in the SNOW?
Maybe THAT is the reason for the "sour" face?
Whatever - so GLAD to see the Healthy Bunnie!
:D

It was very bright out, so most of the pictures, she had her eyes shut! But no, she is NOT a fan of the camera. I was holding her, so her feet did not have to touch that nasty white stuff!
Miss Hoppy does look a little annoyed with the photo op! :) White spots or not she is still a very pretty bun-bun! ;)

Aw, Miss Hoppy, you are beautiful, white hair & all! Don't be upset - many of us get far more white hair than we'd like, too!

Hello, Miss Hoppy, sweety! Thank you for allowing your photo to be taken! I like the white area, but if after the spring shedding it comes back brown, that's okay too! I'm glad to see you!

Miss Hoppy how wonderful to see you!!! You look marvelous!!! :D
My dad had cancer and had radiation too. His hair was white to start with, then fell out. It later grew back in as brown, his hair color when he was younger. You look great no matter what color you wear!!! ;)

Thank you for posing, even if you do show a bit of "rabbitude"!
Glad you are feeling better than ever!

Miss Hoppy, I bet you're happy to be done with that yucky stuff! ;) You look marvelous with your highligts, and even though you look a bit grumpy having your picture taken, I'm glad your mom posted it. We don't see nearly enough of you!
Spring is coming and parsley will grow, so things are getting better all the time. :D

Oh wow, Miss Hoppy, what gorgeous eyes you have! No need to be reluctant to show off for the camera. As they say "If you've got it, flaunt it!" :D And I do apologize for it taking me this long to notice this thread. I really need to keep my head out of the clouds.
I'm glad you are doing well, Miss Hoppy!

I thought I'd let folks know, we went to the vet on Thursday,a s Miss Hoppy has had a stuffy nose for a while now. It's just an upper respiratory infection, so she got a shot of penicillin, and was given antibiotics (thankfully they are apparently yummy) and eye drops.
But what I wanted to share, really, was that the vet admired her white patches, and called her "the wonder bunny" for doing so well after the treatment this fall. And she said she's lost a little weight (I'm usually not hungry when I'm sneezy either) so she can have all the treats she wants. She then called her a "miracle bunny" and said, well, she should get everything she wants now, anyway. She's earned it!

The vet admired her white patches, and called her "the wonder bunny" ...
She then called her a "miracle bunny" ...
Kinda *scarey* to realize that all those treatments weren't quite a "sure thing".
Hope da Bunny sez **THANKS** to God at Purrayer Tyme tonight.

I hope Miss Hoppy's feeling all better soon. I suppose the Easter bunny will bring her a few extra treats tonight. ;)

Well, as the vet said that she could have all the treats she wants right now, she's getting plenty! If one crackles a plastic bag in the kitchen, one had better produce a bunny treat! ;)

Okay, Miss Hoppy... (crackle crackle) Oh, wait, it has to be your kitchen. My nephew Michael's bunny Winston used to be like that with the refrigerator vegetable drawer -- that is where carrots were kept. If you went in that fridge for anything, you didn't close the door without breaking off a little piece of carrot for Winstey.
