Hi Annie! Welcome to Pet Talk! If you're a pet lover, you will absolutely love it here. Just be warned: it is addicting! :) I love Newfoundlands and hope to have one someday, but for now, I have a wonderful 2 year old Basset Hound named Daisy.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome!

:)

We had a Newf named Sadie Mae.... she was a rescue and was with us for almost two years before she died. She had major health problems, which included severe epilepsy.

Despite her illness, she had a beautiful spirit, and we miss her desparately. Someone told me when she died that: "When they leave us, the leave a hole the size of a crater". That about somes it up.

Here is a picture of Sadie

Here are my two Newfs, Cora and Kira! Cora is 3 and a half, and sitting behind Kira, who turned 1 in May.

They are the light of my life!

Oh Sadie is so beautiful, I know how much you must miss her, we lost our beloved Kona, a Schnauser at 14 last October, have you thought about making a memorial to her on http://www.bestfriends.com
they have a post called Angels Rest and you can put her photo there and write a little memorial, then revisit whenever you want.
There is no charge for doing that.
Jackie
Annie, the photos of Cora and Kira came up ater I did my post, wow they are gorgous,
what beauties.

Welcome! There's just nothing like a Newfie, is there? My favorite Newfie image was seeing a three-year-old girl curled up asleep in the family's Newfie at a busy town fair. All that commotion, but there was the Newfie, being a comfy bed for the little sleeping child, her long blonde hair mixing in a bit with the smooth black silk of her "nanny."

Hi, Annie & welcome to the friendliest, most supportive pet site. I live in Australia & have been made so welcome by the people on this board.
A young couple in our family have a black Newfie called Jaek & he actually was born in New Zealand, coming to Australia when he was abuut 5 years old.
When Jaek lived in New Zealand, his family's home was beside a National Park that tourists walked thro'. One day Jaek wandered into this park & his family went looking for him. They found him when they heard a woman tourist scream to her husband, "Honey, help! There's a bear." Yep, it was Jaek! :)

Hi Annie! Welcome to this site. I love Newfies and yours are gorgeous!!!
When Carina was a six months old puppy I took her to the vet for her shots and there was a Newfie in the waiting room. If you can picture this: a small blond pup and a huge black Newfie seating and just looking at one another. It remainded me of King Kong and the blond actress in the old movie :D Big hugs (and they have to be big) to Cora and Kira.

Welcome Annie, Your going to lovr it here every one is wonderful. I have owned 2 mixed newfies, both were rescues . Buddy was newf and lab 120 lbs.lived till he was 10years old, had cancer that we finally had to put him down too much pain. Bear was newf and golden reteriver, (great for my spinning) he was given to a forever home in the country , after I got him up to weight and so training to be nice and polite. I don't have room now for one so I have merlin a springer .
We live about 25 miles from the Black paws kennels and rescue training center, so I see lots of them during the summer as they all come here to train. I watched them train for the heliocopter jump , it was awesome!!!! Someday.

Cora and I are a therapet team... she is very well socialized and has her CD as well. She seems to be drawn to smaller dogs... she is fascinated by them... One of her best friends is a doxie.... She seems to know that she must be very gentle.... I do have to admit to having a chuckle or two whenever she does a playbow.... specially if the other dog's owner is nearby... it is rather an awesome sight to see such a large dog playbowing to a tiny dog!!!!

I'm not meaning to be rude so please don't take this the wronge way, why is every dogs name Sadie? Why did my parents have to name me that when that is a popular DOGS name?

Maybe everyone just thinks it's such a pretty name that they give it to their pretty girl puppies!

:D I know what you mean. Sadie came to us as a 20 month old rescue. She was named Sadie... However, I know at least a half dozen other Sadie dogs! And being online, I am meeting even more! It's just a great name!

That's right! Sadie is a great name for a person... and anything else for that matter.

My neighbors accross the street have named their dog Annie!!! It took me awhile to figure out that they had a dog... I just thought they were calling over to me all the time... I'd hear "AAAAAAAAAAANNNnnnie".... and I'd look over and wave like a fool!

Then I realize they had gotten a puppy. LOL!!!! Was I embarassed!!!! :o

Annie, your dogs, including Sadie, are just gorgeous. My petsitter has one, and she says his personality reminds her so much of my Golden Retrievers. Just that the Newfoundlands are a lot bigger lap dogs! :D

And to the human Sadie, I feel your pain! More and more people are naming their dogs Logan too! And I for one am flattered that people like the name enough to use it for a pet that they love. Maybe you should think of it that way, and just be proud! :)

No, I don't. :( I would like to though. I'm just too busy with agility, tracking and LOTS of obedience with my Rott now. I would love to start, but I just don't have the time. 4 nights a week I'm off to some dog training event. Make that 5 starting in August. :D

ANNIE...A big, big newfie sized welcome from Sandra, Star (the lab) and Cody (the husky/shep) I work at a kennel and yesterday the most adorable, big, goofy, sweet, drooling, "lap" newfie :D came for a short stay! Oh what a snuggle puppins she is! You are so lucky to have and know the love of this terrific breed! Do your kids like the water?

Sadie is so beautiful. Thank you for rescuing her. What a loving life she must have enjoyed with you. I am so sorry she had to leave you so soon. Your "signature" says it all; and, every time I see it posted, my heart skips a beat.

Now you give Cora and Kira (those stunning girls!) a big, gigantic hug for me!

WELCOME!
