A year ago today, one of the great canine loves of my life joined the pack!

A picture from his first day with us. I had my first noise complaint that night. Anvik was very clear from the start that he did not like being alone and he was going to be a momma's boy. Even now, he is quiet when he can see me and prone to doing the "Death Howl" when he can't. I moved a doghouse up against a window so he can look in and see me when I'm inside.

It's been a rough year for Anvik. He had mysterious lumps removed in October. Exactly what they were has never been determined, but they haven't come back!

Then Heyoka headbutted him and caused a hernia in his abdominal wall and a protruding kidney. Anvik won't wear an e-collar so keeping his stitches in was a challenge. Fortunately, after two surgeries, he fully recovered and has normal kidney function.
He almost spent today at the vet. He was quiet and lethargic all night. This morning, he was still a little quiet but he was moving more, his tail was up, he was giving hugs and he was drinking normally. So I let him stay home instead of spending his Gotcha Day in a cage!

And then we got Tehya. She has loved him from day one. I'm not always sure the feeling is mutual, but he indulges her urges to chase him, chew on him, and harass him to no end. He is a patient, gentle soul.

I think he's finally healthy. He's gained a few pounds that were much needed. He's happy and silly. He stopped jumping the fence a few months ago and now only goes wandering when I let him off-leash. He is remarkable off leash, especially for a husky.

He is a total suck and utterly devoted to me. A nice change since most huskies are much more indepenant and not particularly people focused!

The dog team starts training again this weekend. Anvik will be thrilled. He's an honest dog--hardworking, reliable and he loves to run!
Happy Gotcha Day, sweetums. I am glad you're here.
