Shilo is one of the cats who has had the drastic dental surgeries. He has had all but 1 large canine and a couple very small teeth removed. And the boy still has pain. :( Sometimes he just SCREAMS for apparently no reason, but I know it is his mouth.
I attempted to give him pain pills, per vet instructions, but the blood curdling screams from him just when I tried to open his mouth were terrible.
So I tried slipping it into his soft food (the pill is 1/4 of a VERY small tablet). It worked 1 day and then he even stopped eating his food. :(
So he was to the vet today. He now has a pain patch (fentanyl) and he recieved depo injuection to reduce swelling. He is suppose to be feeling better by tonight. I sure hope so.
The pain patch is wrapped around his neck. Kind of hard to see in the photos.

Poor Little Shilo , we hope that the Vet can help Shilo out. As Michael , Joseph and Precious have all gone in for dental I know how painful that can be. I pray its not an infection in his jaw and that he will be all right,
we are sending prayers for Tuxedo Shiloh.

Poor Shilo! :(
I hope he feels better soon. Maybe he will need antibiotics?
Gentle hugs to beautiful Shilo! :)

Well, he saw the vet, so I assume it is infammation and not infection. (at least for now)
I am not sure if he will eat tonight or not. I guess tomorrow morning will be a better test.

A friend of mine rescued a cat w/dental problems and it turned out that the vet who pulled the cat's teeth didn't deaden the nerves and this poor cat was in so much pain, screaming all the time. Hopefully, this isn't the case w/Shiloh.

 OH, what a horrible thought!!! :(
Shilo did eat this morning, any way. Not sure how he feels, he sleeps all the time, but at least he ate.

I'm glad to hear that he at least ate this morning. Could it be the pain patch and shots that he got yesterday that is making him more sleepy than ususal?
Oh and I pray it isn't due to what Mary said. Poor Shilo.
Give him some gentle hugs and kisses for me Jen, please.

Shilo had the wrap off his neck yesterday. He totally scratched open his throat (from kicking at the bandage) :( And this morning, all the hair on the back of his neck, exactly where the patch was, is GONE.
So now he has a bald neck and a slashed throat........but at least we can say that he feels better.
The depo injection was to reduce the swelling in the gums, and it worked!! and the pain patch was to keep him pain free until the depo really took affect, and it did. So I guess that is the most important thing.....but he looks like he's been in a cat fight.

Awe... Shilo!! Looks like you need to go sleep where Monte has been, in between mom and dad's pillows! Poor guy.... hope you get some relief and will feel all better soon! Big hugs to you!

Hello Shilo, I am sorry that you are going through so much trouble and pain lately. But I am very happy to hear that you are feeling better and hopefully you will start eating like a normal cat soon.
Mine and my cats prayers are coming your way:)
