My poor baby! I think the Innova dry food is giving her diarrhea but I am not 100% sure. She has been on the Innova dry for a few months without any noticeable problems but lately she has had diarrhea on and off. I know it is not the Fancy Feast because I purposely have not given it to her for the last 2 days to help narrow down the problem. The older she gets the more difficult her diet becomes. I made a vet's apt. for this Sat. She is supposed to have another urinalysis and exam so hopefully I will get more insight. I don't want to change her diet yet until we go to the vet but I would like to get some suggestions about other foods to possibly try, especially for cats prone to diarrhea.

To much of Fancy Feast (can)at our house from young to older of our gang gives them the runs. To many changes in diet gives them the runs too.

Suggesstions: Human rice is good for stopping the runs. Also the water that the rice is cooked in is a good stopper for the runs. I've had to give cats Kaopetake (spell?) anti diarreha medication for humans.

I'm sorry to hear this.:( I feed my cats both wet and dry Innova Evo and so far they haven't had any problems. Sometimes if Ziggy eats too much wet food she will have some loose stools but it's not diarrhea.

You can also try giving her some canned pumpkin. Some cats won't eat it so you could try to mix it with some wet food. I've heard that it's good for both diarrhea and constipation. She may need to have a food that contains rice in it so it'll help keep her stools firm. I hope that she'll get better soon. Good luck.:)

I also wanted to add that my cat Starr was having severe diarrhea and now he's on some herbal supplements as well as his pred and he's been doing very well. Maybe Magic needs to have some probiotics added to her food. Starr is currently on primal defense powder (http://www.netnutri.com/browse.cfm/4,1713.htm). I give him one scoopful once a day and I give him half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening mixed in with his wet food.

Seems that my fur posse has the opposite problem; if a cat food doesn't agree w/them, up it comes! Sounds like it's time to switch.

The worse part is trying to monitor her liter box "deposits." She definitely likes her privacy. If she even sees me hovering around her she runs away until I leave.

I Would Say Its The Fancy Feast As Innova Is Very Good , The Found Cats Devour The Innova Canned.
We Hope That Magic Is Over The Runs Soon As Cats Like Being Clean As Much As We Want Them To Be Clean.

I don't seem to be having much luck with either food. Fancy Feast is the only wet food Magic will eat. :( Our vet apt. is tomorrow so I will see what she recommends.

Well Magic went to the Vet this past Saturday with mixed results. They did a physical exam and that was fine. The vet also did a urinalysis and fecal smear/flotation tests. I won't get the results of the urinalysis until Tuesday or Wednesday. However she did give me the test results of the fecal smear/flotation tests. Magic has some unusual bacterial buildup in her system which could be causing the diarrhea. The vet also said that it looked very strange and that there was some minute traces of blood which is not uncommon which heavy diarrhea. I need to monitor Magic's activities for the next week.

The vet gave Magic some antibiotic pills for the next week which will hopefully help. She also wants me to give Magic some plain yogurt to help with the bacterial situation. She wants me to discontinue both the Innova and Fancy Feast for the next few days as well. The Innova maybe too rich for her stomach. She suggested boiled rice and chicken and baby food for the next few days.

Magic may have to go back for further testing if the meds and foods don't work.

Right now Magic hates yogurt and rice. She will not eat those foods at all. She does however love the baby food. She is so finicky. Are there any other foods I should consider giving her that are also palatable? Do you think fish like tuna or sardines would be too much for her system?
