View Full Version : Mollie has me worried...9/8/07 UPDATE

I got home about a half hour ago and my 15 year old tortie has been in and out of the litterbox since I got home. She looks like she's straining to go. I hope it's nothing serious. Looks like a trip to the vet is in order. :(

What worries me is Dr. Goodnow did a tarot card reading and she told me that the cards indicated Mollie Rose wouldn't be around much longer due to renal failure.

I'm sure you know that renal failure does not equate to death sentence. Put your mind at ease and take Mollie to the vet as you said. She's 15 so she may need subQ's for a while. Lots of prayers going out to Mollie and you. And especially lots of healing.

Hugs and prayers for Mollie Rose.

(I tend to believe that prayers can overrule tarot readings...what the creator creates, the creator controls! Including cards. :) )

I know it's not a death sentence. Part of me hesitates taking her to the vet thinking it's probably nothing. But she's my baby, my QUEENIE and I'd do anything for her!! I'll let you know what the white coats say.

Ok, so maybe hesitating to go to the vet will make the tarot thing actually more of a reality... ya know what I mean?? You can let make the change for Mollie's future, whether it be for the better or worse. Not be to be negative of the whole tarot thing, but it's still something questionable, and not scientific.

I'd get Mollie to the vet, get a good checkup and see what the vet and any blood tests say, and go from there.

She's still in and out of the litterbox. She has a vet appointment tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. I'll let you know how she makes out.

Could she be constipated?? Or do you think she is straining to pee?

What HAS she produced in the box recently? (it will help the vet to know this as well)

She may have a UTI. Hopefully whatever is causing this will be easy to treat. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way. Please get well soon Mollie.

The vet said it sounds like the early stages of a UTI. He examined her and boy was she pissed!!! He gave her a shot to get her started. She's on clavamox for the next 10 days.

I took the card thingy lightly. It was the in and out of the litterbox that caught my attention. Better to be safe than sorry.

Glad to hear that Mollie is doing better. Tarot cards only point to trends, not certainties. (I've read tarot for 25 years now.) And as someone who serves her cats, I don't like getting my Queenie Puddy upset, so I know exactly what you mean. We'll keep the healing vibes going, though, just to be safe.

Prayers on the way that your precious Mollie has a full and speedy recovery.
You're such a good meowmie Donna, to notice that something wasn't right with her.

I agree with Medusa. Diagnosis of renal impairment is just that, a diagnosis. There is no set prognosis for the progression of this condition, all cats vary in their response and with careful management can go on for several years. KB2YJX had a cat that went on for about 4 years and my Cleo was diagnosed two years ago next month. The eventual prognosis of course is that the kidneys one day will fail completely. But it is often the case that it is old age or another condition which eventually claims them to take them to the RB, before the kidneys fail completely.

Wishing Mollie a long, full and happy, healthy life. :)

Mollie Rose is back in the hospital. I was watching television last night and she kept going in and out of 3 litterboxes! She's been on Clavamox 2x day for over a week now and it hasn't changed anything. I feel so bad for her.

The vet told me that he's going to give her IV fluids to make her pee so he can test it for crystals. He's also going to do x-rays  I hope it's nothing serious. :(

Donna as you know candles and vibes going to you both!. The cards are only accurate as to the choices made to the date of the reading , anthing you do to change the outcome will affect the next reading. They can only show what will happen if you stay on the same course, you didn't! you took proactive action and kept a special eye on her. I will continue to send healing vibes for you and your precious QUEENIE!!!!

Love,
Kym

I spoke with Dr. Geer this morning. Mollie's bloodwork came back fine. She'll be staying another night at the vet so they can give her injectible antibiotics as well as steroids to help reduce the inflammation in her bladder.

Can't wait to see how much THIS vet bill is gonna cost me. :(

I do miss my Queenie and can't wait for her to come home!! I'm just greatful that I caught it before it got too serious. Thanks for the heads up, Kym.

I miss her so much!! Tonight while giving the kids their treat of canned food, I automatically put one down of Mollie Rose, and even went looking for her until it dawned on me she's not here. :(

I can't wait till I get her tomorrow.
