I just noticed that Fenway has a GREEN discharge coming from his peepee! What do you think it is? Should I take him to the emergency room or wait to call the vet on Monday morning? He just ate and has pee'd and pooped.

He spent some time in the pond down the street today. Do you think it could have something to do with that?

Please help! I've never seen this before!

It can probably wait. In fact I bet it's gone by Monday! He may have irritated himself while he was swimming, could be the start of a UTI, but neither are emergencies. If he starts to act distressed, then I'd call a vet sooner.

Fenway, did you get into something?

Elizabethann, I agree with Glacier; just keep an eye on things, but he most likely took in something either ate it, or took in some pond algae or something. Praying it all clears up with no additional issues!

Actually there is no need to panic.. unless it's excessive, it is perfectly normal..just part of having a male dog ;)

Yeah, they get that yucky stuff in their sheath sometimes. YAY boy dogs, huh? ;) Keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away in a few days give the vet a call. Don't stress though!

Thanks everybody. I haven't checked his peepee yet today. But I will. I just never saw that before and it was gross. For a minute, I thought Fenway was an alien. :D

Nah, that was just his funky summer hair cut you got for him!

LOL Eli had some of that too. Its just 'puppy smut' as our vet called it. Its especially common in younger, intact males. Although, we have noticed a little since he's been fixed as well... Its all normal... gross.. but normal. :D

Well I brought Fenway to the vets and they did a pee test. They said his white blood cell count was a little high.

I have to put this medicine inside his little peepee sack (totally gross). It has to be done 2 times per day for about 7 days.

Then I have to bring him back for another pee test. If his white blood cell count is still high, he may have to go on antibiotics.

He has to stay away from the pond for awhile (which he is very very unhappy about).

Aaaaw, poor Fenway, I hope your pee is back to normal soon. :)

(It takes a special type of person to be a devoted pet owner, doncha think?) ;)

I so totally sympathize with you.

You think S.O, the MALE in the house would take care of that... oh noooo... It was me that had to take care of it the time King had an infection. *shudder*

King was none too please with my handling of him.
