We were so blessed to have adopted 2 ferrets this summer due to a baby being born into a family as they there afraid that the pets would be too aggressive towards it. My question is this. Lisa, who is about 4 years of age is good at reliving herself in the litter box. While Buddy, (male) is an absolutely lazy bugger! He will defecate and urinate outside the box, even though he sees Lisa going in the litter box. Does anyone have this problem or can you provide me with some suggestions. I had to have him out as we have a carpet in the basement and I have to keep sanitizing it! Thanks!
i had three ferrets once.i gave them away since they bite my family and plus they stunk! i loved them very much though like i love all my pets.doy uo have any dogs?i have a min.dachshund named daisy. also a cat named polly.i hope you like it here at pet talk! :D

Has your male ferret been castrated?
One or other animal should be neutered as there is evidence that some females, unless mated, will develop bone degeneration, continuos season and may even die as a result.
As a toileting problem, restrict the male ferret within it's housing to a sleeping space and a litter tray. Try different materials in the litter tray after every toilet the ferret performs in the wrong place. It may just be that he doesn't see the litter provided as suitable one. Sand, soil, wood shavings, sawdust, cat litter, leaf litter or shredded paper could be tried. Try leaving a very thin layer in the tray and a heap of the material in one corner of the tray.
It is highly possible that he his marking territory.
