Ok. I have breed mice before. So this may not be the same as Hamsters but here is what I know. Out of two litters we had 25 mice. So be prepared. Don't breed them because you want one of the males UNLESS you have a home for ALL the babies. Do not leave the male in with the mother when she has the babies becasue he will kill and eat the babies. Yea yea yea I know hamster's aren't liek that, but why take the risk? Also research breeding hamster's on the web it will give you alot of information.

I've bred guinea pigs before, and I know they're not exactly hamsters. I agree with Aspen, before you breed I suggest you find homes for atleast 8 hamsters babies. Sometimes male hamsters don't get along, even if they are father and son, but sometimes they do. If they're anything like guinea pigs, the adults can breed again within an hour of the birth, so separate them. I'm pretty sure that hammies become sexualy mature at 6 weeks so you might wanna separate them , too. Do your research and good luck!

What breed of hamster are you wanting to breed? If they are syrians, I wouldn't recommend it. Syrian hamsters don't do well in groups and if you can't find a home for all of them they will begin to fight. But if they are the dwarf breed when introduced at a young age they will not fight. So beware...also do some research on the net. I'm going to breed dwarf hamsters for my SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) for FFA. And I've done about a months worth of research. So get into those books.

a golden hamster is a syrian breed if i'm not mistaking. and if you can't get rid of the babies, they will begin to fight and when that happens you have to get a cage for each of them. i'm going to breed dwarf hamsters because when introduced at a young age, they will not fight. think about what you're doing here....
