What's a "Gathurin"?? ... What's this all about ??
http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

For the Newer Pet Talkers, and anyone else who hasn't seen the
sometimes "lengthy" posts devoted to Planning these Events,
and the always enjoyable "Reports" (complete with extensive
Photo Coverage) of the Events ~

Here's a capsule summary of What Goes On:

We "Gather" at the very nice Hancock County Park District "Dog Park" in the
north-western corner of OHIO.
Facilities include:

* A 2-acre fully fenced OFF-leash Dog Park - with picnic tables, running water,
a few shade trees, grass, a lil mud, a collection of toys & balls -
a fine place to let a Friendly Pooch *romp* with other dogs.

* And 100 feet away ~ An enclosed (on two sides) Covered Picnic Pavilion
with concrete floor, picnic tables to seat 90 or so, electrical outlets,
2 charcoal grills - and enough Food & Covered Dishes to feed a mid-sized army!
(We NEVER go away hungry!!)
We Reserve and Rent the Pavilion - so there's no risk of it being "occupied"
by anyone except our Pet Talk Gang.

* Within 500 feet - there are two CLEAN Rest Rooms ~ OK, they don't *flush* -
but they ARE "clean", have concrete floors, and locking doors!

* A large, paved parking lot is within sight of the Dog Park and Pavilion.

* Many wooded Trails through the beautiful Park are available, but most
Folks hang with the Gang in the Dog Park or at the Pavilion.

* Food is casual / picnic stuff - everyone brings a lil extra to share - and as
said before - ya won't be hungry when you leave!

We can't stress enough that EVERYone is More than Welcome!!
We were all "strangers" when we came to our "first one" - and most everyone
who has been to one keeps coming back!

About the only "REQUIREMENT" is that the DOGS have to be "Registered"
to enter the Dog Park area.
Not a "big deal" - but it's da LAW!
If anyone is coming that has dogs that aren't "Registered" with Hancock PARKS -
it costs $10 - for up to THREE Dogs - and is good for the entire year.
PM me at "Cinder & Smoke" and I'll fill you in on the Registration procedures -
allow about 10 days to send for and receive your Permit.

If you're still "not sure" -
take a look at some of out Past Gathurins in these threads >>>

As you can see - we've been "Doing these Gathurings" for several years -
and "The Gang" keeps getting bigger -
so <YOU> will Fit Right IN!!

Please meet us in Findlay on September 2nd!!

Q: How do we go about registering for the dog park?

Here are *links* to two Hancock Park District web pages;
(Links corrected on 4/06/2007)

The first link has a brief "Tail" about the Riverbend Recreation Area. >>>
http://www.hancockparks.com/riverbend.html (http://www.hancockparks.com/riverbend.html)

And here is the *link* to see and PRINT the
Dog Park Yearly Permit Application >>> (Link corrected 4/06/2007)
http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf (http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf)

NOTE: You Must Have "Adobe Acrobat Reader" installed on
your 'puter to Load & See this .pdf file...
If you don't have Adobe Reader -
I guess PM Me at "Cinder & Smoke" and we'll get you a form.

Note 2: The Application is TWO Pages long -
be SURE to Print Page 1 AND Page 2;
Page 2 is a WAIVER that Must Be Signed & Returned -
and is at the Very BOTTOM of page 2. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

What you need to SEND IN with the Application is >>

1) CHECK made out to Hancock Parks Foundation with
Memo to: Dog Park Permit

2) COPY (originals won't be returned) of the Dog's
. . Annual Vaccination Record (including distemper) from the VET...
. . (A Copy of the Office Visit Receipt is fine if the SHOTS
. . are noted & has Vet's Name on it).
. . DATE of Shots needs to be within ONE Year of now.

3) COPY of RABIES Vaccination Receipt ...
. . DATE within 1 or 3 years - depending on the vaccine used;
. . Most Rabies Receipts show an EXPIRATION date for the shot -
. . Rabies Vacc must be "current" (not expired).
. . (Fido should be *wearing* the Rabies "Tag".)

4) All Dogs must also be "Licensed" by the City, Town, County,
or State where you LIVE. Fido should be *wearing* his/her License Tag.

Send it all to:
Hancock Parks District
Attn: Dog Permit
1424 East Main Cross Street
Findlay, OH 45840

Cost of $10 / year registers 1, 2 or 3 Dogs.
(From December 1 to December 31 of the Following Year)
You'll receive a Plastic Laminated "Permit Card" in the Mail -
BRING IT WITH you on visits -
they WILL be Checking Permits this year!!

A note about the "DATES" shown on your Receipts ~
Parks is "happy" if the Dates on the Vet & Rabies Receipts are
"Current" within the LAST 12 Months of when you send them in...
In other words; if Fido had his "Shots" anytime AFTER September, 2006 ~
he's Good to Go!

And a 3 year Rabies shot is good if it was given AFTER September, 2005.

ANY Questions??
Post em or PM me. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

OK - Here's how to get your MapQuest "Directions" with Turn-by-Turn Instructions ...

Use the Click-Link (below) to get to the From and To page for MapQuest.
**WAIT** till the page fully loads - or you'll goof up the pre-filled data!!

When the page finishes loading - you'll have TWO big data blocks -
the one on the LEFT asking for your STARTING Location;
the one on the RIGHT >> Already FILLED IN < with the Dog Park Address.

If you have it - do NOT use Microsoft's "AutoFill" - it will put your home address
in BOTH blocks - erasing http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif the pre-filled Dog Park Address! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/mad.gif

JUST fill in your Home or "Starting" address in the LEFT (STARTING Location) Blocks.

Here's the *Link* to MapQuest >>>

MapQuest Directions To: Findlay, OH ~ DOG PARK (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?2a=16000 Township Road 208&2c=Findlay&2s=OH&2z=45840&2y=US&cid=lfddlink)

NOTE!! for ROBIN and anyone else driving North from the Columbus, Ohio, vicinity!!! >>>

The "old closed bridge detour" routing you up the WEST Side of the Reservoir
is no longer required ... the MapQuest directions are now correct just as
they print out from MapQuest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

IF you want to use a GPS or another Mapping Service - here's the Dog Park Address:

16000 Township Road 208 -OR-
Township Road 207 AND Township Road 208
Findlay, OH 45840

GPS Coordinates: (WGS 84)
N. 41* 01.941'
W 083* 33.691'
The Dog Park is INside the Hancock Park District's "Riverbend Recreation Area";
about a mile south of Ohio Route 568;
and just north of the North-East Corner of the big Findlay Reservoir.
The Reservoir is on most maps - and stands out because it is drawn as a
Big SQUARE Blue Lake;
south-east of downtown Findlay.

If ANYONE has trouble with the Route to the Dog Park - PM "Cinder & Smoke"
with your E-mail and Home/Starting Address.

This is where the Pet Talk Memorial (for Bowser, Sherman, Angus and the other beloved pets) is going to be? I'll try. I'd be pet-less, because Cassie Cat is NOT good in the car! I can give pettings, though.

Cinder Sez:
Hey Gang ~ Pleeze don't furget da Dawggie *TREETz*!!

Bring either the "small" of "Byte-Sized" treets - mosta da Phunn fur
us 4-Leggers is the "GETTIN" da treet - a quick <munch> an we
can get rite back in line fur anudder wun ... kinda hate to have to spend
a lotta time <krunchin> up a BIG treat. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif

And for Mr. Chipper >>>
Chipper hazza "short list" of acceptable treets ...
Per Mom: Chipper can have treats that are organic or homemade.
We've had success with Solid Gold, Zuke's Mini Naturals, Old Mother Hubbard,
My Doggy Bites, and Wellness brands. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/smile.gif

Things that are no-no's are treats that are loaded with preservatives and/or fillers.
Things like Beggin' Strips, ect. will make him one sick puppy.

Count us in! Me, Jack and Shadow that is! :D

We'd like to drive down Saturday morning, camp out, hang out Sunday, stay the night again and head back early Monday. Might as well make a weekend out of it (since it'll be an extra long drive for me, I'll be coming from school which is in northern Michigan).

I did notice a campground close by to the park, I believe we passed one...anybody know more about this? Or other options? I guess we could stay in a hotel if we HAVE to :p

OUCH! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif
They're not exactly *cheap*!
First off, it's a Holiday weekend --- so as a Speshul Bargin - they LET you
reserve a site for ALL THREE NIGHTS - Fri, Aug 31 + Sat & Sun, Sept 1 &2 ...
AT $18.00 per night PLUS $8.00 Fee to the reservation people.
Same price either Park; standard NON-electric sites.

She added it up to $62.00 for three nights (even if you only stay for two!)
Lake Side sites (4) at Mary Jane Thurston adds $2/night = $68.00 for 3 nights.
(And no extra charge for the Mosquitoes near the water!)
You can also surf the net for "RV Parks" = they sometimes let Tent Campers
use small camper sites.

You want something between Toledo and Findlay, and near I-75.
Be sure to CONFIRM the FurKids are "allowed" without any add-on charges!

Hey guys, I really don't think I want to go without Katie. The 3 of us have become really attached and I just can't bring myself to leave her home alone.

I can keep her in the timeout pen or we can stay over at the shelter house so she doesn't get into any trouble. Of course I would need someone to keep an eye on Tori and Sammi if I bring her too. Does anyone mind if I bring Katie? You can be honest. It won't hurt my feelings.

I'll do my best to help watch mo and larry - err I mean - Tori and Sammi - while Katie is wherever you wish her to be. Not sure I'd be able to spend time with Katie b/c of My Miss Jealous Princess but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
does any of your friend's daughter want to come along?
that's help a bit?

Staci, I'll pass on the Berti Bots Beans ;) I bought some at work the other day and I think I ate enough "grass" and "earthworm" to last a lifetime :o

I've been thinking about it and I probably won't go the camping route. Maybe if someone else is coming and wants to camp I will too...but rethinking it I really don't want to alone :o Thank you Phred for the links and information, though!

Paws crossed that Sierra and I just might be able to make it this year.
My sister always has my niece's b-day party on the Sunday of Labor day weekend, but this year it's on Saturday!! Yippee!!

I'm not 100% sure I'll be there, but more like 75% sure! :D

If I come, I'll bring the (cans of) beans again and like last time.. any extra's go home with Phred!! :p

Just a side note to first timers driving to the park from the East.
Do NOT try to drive through Norwalk! You'll never get out of that little town!! :o

Hmmmm.. an 8 hr drive isn't THAT bad. Maybe I need to go out and get a dog to qualify to attend this thing?! Either that, or I'll bring Ms. Finae on a harness and leash. She's got personality plus and would probably boss all the pups around!

Will check out hotel rates too.

you don't need to bring a dog or a feline - altho we've had a couple visit :)

I don't mind staying at a hotel... not like I get to do it any other time unless it's with the teachers' union, lol, and now that I'm not part of the executive board, that's gone too... :( . Oh well, they were a hassle, lol. I'll stick to just hearing the gossip that goes on in our school instead of the entire district!

Any hotels anyone can recommend?? I'd prefer to stay under $80/night, but don't want to be in a flea infested motel!

I can do the Snicker Salad - but will have to fore go the green beans -

There must be a way ...

* How 'bout a Back-Pack for the BRD?

* Maybe a Lil Red Wagon for the BRD to haul the Pot in?

* Plan B: Pre-cook da Beans & Stuff; empty into Baggie & then Icey Box
** Ask the Friendly Neighbor to load the empty Crocky Pot into the Bus
** Load da Beans & Stuff Baggie into Bus on Gathurin Day
** *HONK* upon arrival ... Crocky Pot transporters will appear
** Re-unite da Beans & Stuff wiffa Crockey Pot.

I think so Moff. Not to sure about the dog bark park area. I was just
about to ask some of the same questions. Are we going to have to cancel
for Labor Day? Anyone heard from Phred?

The flooding I saw on film was downtown Findley. Bad news. :(

I'm **TRYING** to post a reply ...

Short Story --- 10 days to go - things "otta" dry out in time for Sept 2nd ...

PLAN to be there - we'll only cancel if conditions are really bad.

Heck - the SUN might even be shining by then!

From Cinder and Smoke, via me, as he's having trouble posting:

Findlay, Ohio, IS where we hold the Labor Day SUNDAY Gathurin ...
and IS also where the Tide is running a bit high the last few days!

Not too sure about the dog bark park area.

Are we going to have to cancel for Labor Day?

It's WAY TOO Early to decide if there's going to be a "water problem" at the

Findlay Dog Park on Labor Day Sunday, September 2, 2007.

Current Conditions are a little "iffy" ... but there's 10 days to dry things out! :)

Flood Warning
FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLEVELAND OH
336 PM EDT WED AUG 22 2007

THE FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1100 AM EDT THURSDAY
FOR*HANCOCK COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST OHIO...

IN HANCOCK COUNTY... A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE
BLANCHARD RIVER AT FINDLAY.*
FLOODING CONTINUES IN THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. MANY ROADS ARE STILL FLOODED AND CLOSED. WATER LEVELS IN SOUTHERN HANCOCK COUNTY WILL BEGIN TO RECEDE THIS EVENING.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the Graph of the Blanchard River at Findlay Guage Station - in the south-western corner of Findlay ...

Note the  17 FOOT Increase in river dept from 1:00 AM Monday till it crested today (Tuesday) at about 2:00 PM.

The Guage is about 6 miles west of where the Dog Park is;*the Blanchard River runs a few hundred yards to the north and the east of the Dog Park.

River Flood Records were almost set on December 2, 2006 and January 7, 2007, but those "flood crests" were 4 feet LOWER than today's crest.

Till the flood waters receed quite a bit - may take a day or two - the local roads near the Dog Park are likely to be closed or restricted ... and it will be difficult to know what the conditions are.

Absent MORE  Rain in the next 10 days, I'd predict the Dog Park will more or less "dry out", and the local roads will be open by September 2nd.

Hopefully Diana & Carl (4DM) can slip over to the Park and check things out in a few days.

Mite not hurt to pack your Wubber Booties. :p

I doubt anyone can even get near the park right now. Rt. 568 always floods. They usually close it. It turns into one giant lake from the Park entrance all the way past the housing/condo developments towards Findlay. (Last spring, the river rose up even with the tressel bridge that crosses into the park, and the road disappeared underwater before the end of the bridge. I couldn't get into the park at all for about 3 days) 10 days is usually enough time for the water to subside, but this sounds extreme! Add "BOOTS" to your lists of "what to wear" for the picnic!

*edit Rt. 568 is currently closed. Here is a link to local newspaper & info- street closings are about half-way down the page - the Courier (http://www.thecourier.com/Templates/News/CurrentNews.asp#story2)

Hundreds displaced by Midwest flooding

By JOHN SEEWER, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 26 minutes ago

FINDLAY, Ohio - Firefighters and a volunteer armada navigated boats through streets awash in waist-deep water Wednesday, plucking neighbors and pets from porches as flooding that has swamped the Upper Midwest and Plains settled in Ohio.

he water forced at least 500 people to flee their homes in several northern Ohio towns. Rising water forced authorities to move about 130 inmates at the county jail in Findlay to a regional prison.

Many neighborhood rescuers showed up with canoes and kayaks wanting to help during Findlay's worst flooding in nearly 100 years. Three men in a fishing boat ferried a mother and her 2-week-old daughter along with the family dogs.

"That was the catch of the day," said Angel Sanchez, the baby's neighbor.

Milk jugs, garbage bags and soda cans floated in the murky water. Tom Woods took his 8-foot fishing boat to help float out friends stranded in the neighborhood.

"Once we got here, everybody asked us to rescue more people," he said.

The Blanchard River was 7 feet above flood stage Wednesday at Findlay, the highest since a 1913 flood, and could rise another half-foot or more, the National Weather Service said.

The rain subsided by mid-afternoon, and the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for much of the state, with temperatures expected to hit the upper 90s.

In Bucyrus, 40 miles to the southeast, nearly 9 inches of rain had fallen since Monday and at least 200 people were still out of their homes, the Crawford County Department of Emergency Management said.

"Reality is starting to set in about just how much damage there is in some of the flooded areas," said Tim Flock, director of the agency.

Gov. Ted Strickland declared states of emergency in nine counties in northwest and north-central Ohio, including Crawford County and Findlay's Hancock County.

The death toll from two storm systems — one that has spanned the Upper Midwest and another from remnants of Tropical Storm Erin in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri — reached at least 22 on Tuesday when searchers found the body of a man tangled in a tree near Lewiston, Minn.

Flooding also continued in northern Iowa as thunderstorms dumped more heavy rain across the already water-logged region Wednesday. Three subdivisions along the Des Moines River near Fort Dodge were evacuated, and crews used rocks and sandbags to shore up a levee that had begun to give way, officials said.

The river crested at 14 feet, four feet above flood stage, and began a slow fall by midafternoon to 13.2 feet, said Penny Clayton, a spokeswoman for the city. She warned of additional rain, though.

A care center was evacuated in Humboldt, Iowa, as water poured into the basement, but no one was hurt.

Thousands of homes were damaged in Wisconsin and Minnesota as the storm swept through. A preliminary survey by the American Red Cross in Minnesota identified about 4,200 affected homes, including 256 complete losses, 338 with major damage and 475 that are still inaccessible, said Kris Eide, the state's director of homeland security and emergency management.

Preliminary damage reports in Wisconsin indicate 30 homes and 25 businesses were destroyed. Another 731 homes and 32 businesses were damaged.

In addition to the confirmed flood-related deaths, a man drowned Sunday in his mother's flooded basement in Iowa after being overcome by carbon monoxide, the state medical examiner's office said.

And in Madison, Wis., a woman and her child waiting at a bus stop at a flooded intersection were electrocuted when lightning hit a utility pole, causing a power line to fall in the water, authorities said. A bus passenger who tried to help them was also electrocuted, they said.

In Oklahoma, which recorded a gust of 82 mph and 11 inches of rain, some 300 homes and businesses were damaged in the Kingfisher area and in Caddo County in southwestern Oklahoma, officials said. According to the Oklahoma Climatological Survey, 2007 is so far the fourth-wettest on record in the state, with an average rainfall total of 31.96 inches, 8.42 inches above normal.

Ugh... looks like it's another part of Ohio's turn for flooding!
The very North East part of Ohio had flooding like this last year.
http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=110148
We received about 9 inches of rain in 24 hours!! I had a few inches in my basement. 25 bridges in Lake County were washed out and some have still not yet been replaced.
Reports said what happened last year was a 1 in 500 year event!!!
Wonder what they'll say about this flooding!

I hope everything dries up quickly!!

but I think barring any complications - we should be fine.

I bet Cinder & Smoke could tell you, as they have stayed in Findlay - and some hotels base it on the weight/size of the dog, and you're all little!

Can someone recommend a hotel for us that will let us have 3 dogs, please?

PRIOR to the Big Flood ...
Cinder, Smokey and Bowser were welcomed at:
Super 8 Motel - Findlay
(http://www.super8.com/Super8/control/Booking/check_avail?brandCode=SE,MQ,DI,HJ,KG,RA,TL,BU&searchWithinMiles=25&areaType=1&destination=Findlay&stateName=Ohio&state=OH&countryName=United States&country=US&checkInDate=09/01&numberAdults=1&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=09/03&numberChildren=0&rateName=Senior/AARP&rate=SSR&id=03363&propBrandId=SE&force_nostay=true)1600 Fox St.
US 224 & Fox Street
Findlay, OH 45840-2708 US
Phone: 419-422-8863

Rates were cheap *IF* you bartered for a Good Deal with the Motel Office -
usually $35.00 per night PLUS Taxes = totaled about $41.00.
(They advertise a "best rate" of $45 per single occupancy, PLUS Taxes. Don't pay that much!)

EACH Dog is "supposed to be" an extra charge of $5.00 ... I just say the WEB Site says
"dog friendly" with no mention of Extra Charges!
We've never paid the Dog surcharge! :p
(And now I don't "mention" the Mutts at check-in, either.) :p

Now, the BAD News ...
They're CLOSED while they try to dry the place out! :(
They had flood water in the Basement and First Floor levels ...
STILL not accepting reservations as of Midnight Sun/Mon.
------------------------------------------------------------

Another Choice:
Red Roof Inn - Findlay
www.redroof-findlay.com
1951 Broad Ave (North off rte 224, just east of I-75)
Findlay, OH 45840
 CORRECTED PHONE #= (419) 424-0466

<deep sigh>
Monday Night Night Guy doesn't speak English so good, either ... claims they did NOT get flooded;
he said "rooms available" on Sat & Sunday nights (Sept 1 & 2) ...
"cheapest one person / one bed" was $49.00 PLUS Taxes = total of about $60.00 a night.
I'll keep calling around. :p

NOTE: Their Web rates are upwards of $65.00 per night!
I've bunked with them in Toledo for about $35.00 per night with all three Mutts ...
(mitta forgotten to "mention" the Mutts :p ) - but they say All Red Roofs are "pet friendly".

SOME Red Roofs have feedback saying they're pretty "ratty" or antiquated ...
Toledo Inn was nice two years ago.
I Never stayed in the Findlay Red Roof.
--------------------------------------------------

Do a Google.com search for "Findlay, OH" + Motel and you'll get tons of choices.

BE SURE to check on their Flood Condition ... the 1-800 reservation numbers
may not know if the pillows are still soggy.

;)

Tim B. - the Hancock Parks Director - just called me ...
The Riverbend Park area got hit a little harder than was apparent when Staci drove through ...

Their Park Ranger Station - just north of the Dawg Park and across the road ...
had TWO FEET of flood water inside! :(

The Dawg Park itself was under about a FOOT of water, as was some of the parking lot. :(
The Lil Bridge across the drainage "creek" floated away.
Thankfully, The Lodge, that new, large and pretty rental building near the road, was spared.

Tim reported that the Grounds Crews were going to start mowing again today -
the grass has gotten way ahead of them this last week. The Lil Bridge will be re-set
into it's proper place later today.

Hopefully, the Dawg Park and Pavilion #7 will be "presentable enough" for us on Sunday.

THANKS to all the Hard Working Park District Employees!

Cinder & Smoke

I haven't sent in any of my dogs info yet.

Wrap it all up and send it on Wednesday ... it should be delivered on Friday.

Pay for a "RETURN RECEIPT" - makes the Park Office "sign for the envelope"
when it's delivered - you'll get a "Delivered" card back next week.

BRING that postal receipt (the one you'll get tomorrow) with you ...
hopefully the Service Ranger will accept that as proof you mailed in the registration.
Bring LAST year's membership card if you still have it ... show's you're a Frequent Flyer.

Not a problem at all Robin!!
I faxed my stuff to them (cert. of shots and filled out app...etc) on a Wednesday, then put a copy of it all along with a check the same day and I had my card for the dog park that Friday! (just 2 days before the meeting :o )

Even of you don't get your card on time, just bring your paper work to the park with you and the pups!

Print out the application from their website (be sure to sign it)
http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf

And fax it to: (419) 423-5811
Here's their phone number and e-mail so you can call/e-mail them to make sure they got your paper work!

Carl & I were out running errands and stopped by the dog park to see how things were. There are no puddles of water - everything seems pretty dry. We really wanted to check out the smell factor. Some areas that are still drying out smell pretty bad. But there didn't seem to be any odors worry about. It was already gettng dark so we didn't stay long but with all the water we've had and the closeness to the river, I would suggest bug spray as a precaution.

The little bridge to the dogpark area looks a little worse for wear but quite usable.

Looking forward to Sunday! See you then!

Well, after stopping by Brandon's to switch Sammi for Katie and unloading my car I am finally home. I had a really good time and it was so great to see all of my wonderful friends and all of the gorgeous dogs. Such a variety of dogs! I loved it. Tori and Sammi slept all the way home. As soon as Sammi got home she turned into her usual hyper self. Katie was happy to see me and her sister and we were happy to see her.

Diana, you got some really good pictures. That little Lucy is soooooo CUTE! I think you should have kept her in your bag and took her home ;). She may be little but she sure knows how to take care of herself. I loved how she put bossy Tori in her place. I'm glad you got that shot of me and Shadow. She is such a sweet girl and I just loved her.

I really hope that we do try to get together again in October. I would love to go on a nice cool crisp fall day.

I'll try to get to my pics here in a little bit. The computer is in a different room and I'm going back and forth so I can watch the race  .

Great pictures everyone! I will go in a few minutes and check out the albums. After seven years at PT I "know" all of you regulars well :) and it was nice to see a new face or two. Angie was this your first Findlay trip? It was so nice to see Sierra among the dogs. (Hope Buddy was behaving himself at home - no storms). :p Actually it looks like your weather was terrific. Good friends, wonderful dogs and great weather - what more could anyone want!

Most of you know my weakness for pugs. I do believe if I had been there you would have had to frisk me before I left because I would have probably tried to smuggle Lucy home with me. LOL!

You all looked terrific. Thanks for giving the rest of us the feeling that we were there. :)

Girls, so far I'm loving your pictures! Like I commented to Ashley, I think we all really captured the fun we had at the park yesterday:)

The girls got up this morning ate, then passed out again. They are still wore out. Even the Bonbon is tired from worrying about where his girls were.

I did get a short video of Roxey playing. She doesn't play much with other dogs, but she did have a little fun with Taggert:)

Robin, Angie, Phred...looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Pam, I think all of us would have taken Lucy home...she's a sweetheart!

If you ever get a chance to come to one of our meetings you really should...we have a great time:D

Pam, everyone wants to steal Lucy. No, this wasn't my first trip actually this was my 2nd this year and yes Buddy was a good boy at home.

I got home around 7:20 then went out to the campgrounds where my hubby and our friends were. Whew was I tired!!
Sierra never feel asleep on the way home I was shocked!!
I'll start uploading my pictures.. but first I have to go back and look at all the albums.

Hi guys! I just now got my pictures on the computer but I don't have time to mess with them right now because I'm off to another big picnic. Family thing and just a few other family dogs on leash so I've decided I'm taking Katie with me today. Poor Tori won't be happy but she had her day yesterday.

The pictures are great and I haven't had time to go through all the albums yet. I'll try my best to get mine on here this evening.

To all the others that posted and couldn't be there. It really is a fun time and I wish you all could come sometime.

Love ya all!

P.S. I'm covered with mosquito bites!....LOL. Definitely worth it though :p

What great pictures and I loved Anna's video. Why is it that Lucy's name is just perfect for her?

It sure looks as though all of you had a great time - and the dogs all act like cousins and they are so happy to see each other.

Glad that all of you got home safely? Phred? Are you still sleeping?

Going to go back and look at the albums now.

great pics everyone! :)
I talked with Phred - he and the pups stayed in Fostoria over the weekend b/c his normal hotel was flooded.
when I talked to him he was sitting at the railway in Fostoria watching the trains go by (Fostoria has very high train traffic) they were going to look for a swimming hole on the way home.
AND
I got a message from Joyce while I was eating lunch, she wanted to make sure we had a great day and she was green and terra cotta and some color with jealousy! I think she got the days mixed up! But the wishes were the same so I posted them here.

We made it back to the Ranch - A-OK! ;)

Dad figgered we otta check in - let everyone know the Motel Cheap! Beddy-Buggz didn't
manage to haul us away inna night! We kinda "slept in" --- we wuz TIURD!

Woke up this mornin (finallly) to TRAIN Horns ... Dad sed "Hmmmmm ... wanna go WATCH?"
Perfektly Honest ... da "thrill" of a kupple thousand Iron Horses poundin the rails
hard enuff your teeth rattle anna guy inside HONKIN doze HORNZ ta make ya DEAF ... We sed "Sure Dad ... lead us on!"

Sittin inna lil lot across frumma old Amtrak Station in Fostoria ... TWO westbounders
roared thru towne ... almost side-by-side onna NS tracks ... just as Miz Staci called!
We hadda jump back inna Bus to *yap* wiff her.

Lil later we got *Honked At* by da guy drivin a Herd 'o Cats (CSX painted Chessie da Cat
onna lotta their engines) as he was slowin down da herd for a "bad signal" that
was gonna make him stop his "hot" train. Gotta BIG *wave* out the cab window, too.

Hour later we wuz headed east towards home an heard onna scanner dat da "Hot Cat Train"
finally got past the bad signal in Fostoria and they were gonna try to give him "good signals"
while he ran east ... a lil *hint* to "notch 'em up and run QUICK" ...
We pulled over inna lil parkin lot beside the tracks to *watch* ...

Sure 'nuff ... horns inna distance - black smoke above the tracks ...
Here come da CATS ... High-Ballin east!
Dunno if he really reko-nized da two WIDE-Eyed Mutts inna back door window or not -
but we gotz a *Honkity*Honk* anna *wave* affore he passed us -
then anudder lil *honk*honk* after Dad give him a BIG *wave*.
Guess dat Cat Driver alluz "Honks fur Dawgs"!

We train-watched around Barberton; then headed fur a swimmin hole.
Couldn't find a dock to dive offa till it strated gettin *chillie*. :(

NOW we gotta un-pack da Bus an store away da leftovers ...
and find da Camera inna Bus.

Betcha Dad checks da Albums affore he does much else!
:p

Finally got my pics uploaded. A lot of mine are of Sammi. I don't see her much and really enjoyed watching her have fun the other day so I took a lot of her. Robin those pictures are wonderful! I wish we could have joined you all. Maybe in the spring?
The boxer with white socks is Sarge, he's Luci & Brutus' "cousin". That goldenoodle looks like Milo - he's got the softest fur ever! I recognize the schnauzers & poodles, but don't recall their names. They began coming to the park close to he time we left Findlay. :)

I had so much fun! Can't wait to do it again in a few months!
It will be great to get together again on a cool crisp day! The dogs will be more active and us humans won't be fighting for every tiny bit of shade! :D

Talk about a back seat driver!!

I know - I think the owner said that his name is Cheeko or Cheeto I couldn't quite catch that, and that she got him about 2-3 years ago when his original owner died, her other dog is 14 and almost blind and deaf and he too came from another friend that had passed away.

Phred, do you have treats in your hand (or, did you just give everyone treats)? Is that why all the dogs are by you?

These photos are great!! Sigh... wish I could have been there!!

I was out on my front porch last night, and my neighbor was walking their Golden Doodle, Madison. She had just been to the groomer, and was all nice and short and soft! She had these dorky barrettes by her ears though, lol. I really don't get the barrettes on dogs, lol. I swear she thinks she's a cat! She has 4 in her home, and she'll jump up on the arms of the sofas the way the cats do!!

And most of them know if they have a light enough "touch" ...
they can just Dip In and Help Themselves!
I've been raided as often as I've "treated"!

In the case above ... ALL of the above applied ...

* I HAD just passed a considerable number of treats ...
* I had (as usual) neglected to Zipp the pouch ...
* SOME lil 4-Footer dug in and passed the word - The Pouch is OPEN! :D

We were *serving* Chipper-Approved Liver Krunchies ...
Everyone seemed to approve - even the BRD ~ Princess Keegan!

Seems Big Thumb managed to *twirrl* the lil Mode Wheel on top ...
and dialed up the MANUAL settings - which were last "set" for the 4th of July Fireworks ...
So we suddenly began taking rather lengthy TIMED exposures ...
and got some VERY Bright and SUPER Blurry Dawg Shots.

These pictures are fantastic, and it looks like a perfect combination of people and pets. Now I remember why I can't go to these gatherings, I don't have a bag large enough to make off with all of the pups that I want (watch out Huney, Shadow, Luci, Katie-I know she wasn't there, Sierra, and Cinder ;) ). Thanks once again everyone for sharing the pictures and the phunn.

I recieved notice from the Dog Park that there is now a change in effect.
Dog Park Membership passes & fees will no longer be required. The change
went into effect Jan. 1,2008. :)

I was just wondering if this is just for out of state people or for Ohio too?

In short - NObody has to pay anything nor fill out any forms prior to using the Dog Park.

AND - the Lock on the entry gate has been removed.

BUTT ~ Please note that all the RULES remain in effect:
* ALL Dogs are still required to have Annual Shots

* ALL Dogs are still required to be Licensed in their home State or County or City.

** In the event of an "incident" (a bite) - YOU WILL be required to PROVE that the
above requirements have been met for the dog in question ...
I'd suggest you make a Copy of Shot, Rabies, and License receipts and then
CARRY those copies with you in the car when you visit the Dog Park.
