For anyone with horses, who wants more out of the relationship

I would suggest strongly using Pat Parelli's Natural Horsemanship training program. I did the first lesson with my boys this evening, it took me an hour, and all I did was sit there in their pen and not do anything. By the time I left, they had bonded with me, both had their heads over my shoulders to give me loves, and they both followed me like I was suddenly their best friend. No distrust from either, no fear. I can only see bigger and better improvements coming in the future with them both, and the changes I have seen in our relationship in one session is incredible. I have only owned these horses less than two weeks, both of them, so to have a bond this close with them already, and to have their trust, is amazing. You can use it on a lesson horse, or a leased horse, or any horse. I just wanted to tell you how much changed in one session, to encourage anyone who wants a closer better partnership with their horse to give this a try. You have to put in time and effort, but the rewards are amazing. If anyone is interested I will keep you updated on their progress.

Wow I am very interested! That is so great, I just love it how humans and horses can bond through the littlest things like spending time with them. Horses are such amazing animals and my favorite animal. The exhibition starts here on monday and I can't wait! I love watching all the horses:D

I love watching the training programs by all of the different trainers. I love just sitting out in the pasture with the boys. I've had Austin for about 4 years now, and we have an amazing bond, when I go out there to ride, brush or feed him, I don't even have to go "catch" him, all I do is call his name and he comes. He usually listens better than my dog. :o Cisco and I don't share such a great bond, as I haven't really spent the time with him as he is my sisters horse. I think he trusts just about anybody though, as he follows you around and is so close to you it is annoying. :p

I hope your horses continue to progress, sounds like they are doing great so far!! Let us know how it goes! :)

I played the first "game" with each of them separately. The "friendly" game worked well with Gensana, he is finished with that portion in one session. Gent is a little more "hot" and I'll need to play that game with him a few more times before he is accepting of the rope and stick anywhere on his body. He was fine with everywhere except the insides of each of his hind legs. I can pick up his hind feet with my hands, but he is nervous of a stick and rope being there, so I will move more slowly with him. They are both different and have different needs, so while Gensana is ready to move on to the next game, Gent will spend a little more time on the first until he is completely at ease.
