You've got the Tibetan Spaniel & the Tibetan Terrier on your list. :) But what about the Tibetan Mastiff?
Though it's a Mastiff breed...(very large!)...the Tibetan Mastiff has the most beautiful face.
Is it recognized by the AKC for showing in the US?
People have recently started showing & breeding Tibetan Mastiffs in Australia.

The Tibetan Mastiff is shown only at Rare Breed shows here. They are not AKC. However, they are just as adorable! :)

Fuzzy317, most of those dogs you listed that you said aren't on AKC, ARE on AKC. And the Plott Hound and a lot of those aren't on AKC. I had to look in my book for some of these and most of those dogs you said that are on there AREN'T on there. I have another book that has those dogs in there its called "The Legacy of the Dog" and they have rare breeds, but it doesn't mean they are in AKC. And things like the Wire Fox Terrier, it IS on the AKC list. I am sorry but you are wrong. But thanks for trying to help. And the American Cocker Spaniel is DEFINATELY on AKC, its called Cocker Spaniel but it is the American Cocker Spaniel.

Fuzzy I don't get it. What's the difference between Foxhound (American) and American Foxhound, you are saying it like its different, but its not. But I DO appreciate your help.

After I read back over my post, I saw that those breeds are the same basically. The one I gave was the AKC term for the breed. Sorry if was confusion. :(

I read in the July 2001 AKC Gazette that Beauceron, Black Russian Terrier, Glen of Imaal Terrier, Neapolitan Mastiff, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and Redbone Coonhound have just been added to the Miscellaneous class. Which means that while they are in the Misc. class, if they gain popularity (or at least maintain their #s) than the AKC will recognize.

I realy like the Beauceron breed. There sort of a mix between the Doberman and the Rotty. I hope the AKC adds them to the list
