Poor Bailey, a 10 year old purebred Munchkin is at the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter in Bridgewater, NJ.

I found him while surfing Petfinder.

Here's his link: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8722073

This poor boy is depressed and needs to get out of there fast!! I've contacted people I know in an effort to rescue him.

If there is ANYONE here on PT near Bridgewater, NJ that can foster him till a home can be found, please contact me at [email protected]

I normally don't do this, but it broke my heart to see him stuck in a cage, depressed and lonely. If he isn't rescued soon, I'm afraid he'll die.

I would foster him, but I'm maxed out at 5 cats and a rat.

Thanks everyone!

Oh Donna, I am in tears here. I don't know the circumstances as to why this precious boy was surrendered, but how could anyone just give up a pet they have had for 10 years. That poor, poor frightened boy. I found it very hard to look at his pictures. He looks so pitiful in that cage. :(

How I pray that someone will rescue him very soon from the hell he must feel he is in. Oh gosh this just breaks my heart. :(

Donna, he sure is a handsome boy. I hope that you can find someone that will be able to foster him or adopt him. This is so sad.:(

There are a number of very sweet looking kitties at that shelter, tabbies, torties, tuxies, and other seniors.

None are special needs. They euthanize all FIV/FeLV positive cats.

I hate the Humane Society.

They need to be renamed the INHumane Society.

I can't stand to see a depressed animal. It's so heartbreaking because they don't know why they suddenly don't have a home. I sure hope someone takes him soon.

It Makes Me So Sad That I Cannot Take Bailey That All I Can Offer Is Prayers That One Of Our Pet Talkers In The Garden State Can Take That Poor Scared Cat.

I'm waiting to hear from Helping Paws to see if they want me to pull him. HOPEFULLY, they can find a foster home till he can find something permanent.

He is so sad in his pictures. I wonder if his owner died, or had to go to a nursing home. It just seems odd to me that you would give up an animal after having it for ten years, unless it was something beyond your control.

People should really think about their pets when making their will. All my cats have very specific homes if anything should happen to me. After my Dad passed away, I adopted his cat, Tigger. My cats and Tigger didn't get along. Fortunately, my best friend Susie, offered Tiggs a forever home. He lived for another 3 years!! She adored him and I could come and visit anytime I wanted. I was very lucky. Most pets aren't.

Please:

Make sure your family is well aware of your wishes. It was what my Dad wanted. And I'm glad that I could follow through on my promise to "take care of his keeekat!!"

Wait, wait , wait.... Jenn Librarian offered to pull him for you so you can find him a foster home. I can house him temporarily till you find him a foster, but I have 12 cats right now, and he can only stay temporarily. I'm waiting to hear from the shelter as I can't get through to a PERSON. I only get the answering machine. I want to make sure he is still there, as Bridgewater is a drive, and with gas prices, I don't want to drive all the way there and him not be there.

I don't want to sound cheap, but I also need to be reimbursed for pulling him. I just can't afford to put out the $80.00 right now. My funds are extremely tight, and they don't take credit cards there, only cash or check.

As soon as I know that he is still there, that he will be with me very temporarily until Donna can place him (and I'm talking a week maximum), and I can be refunded the adoption fee. I hate to be the grinch, but I can't afford to do much more than that.

Jenn,

Hold off. I've got a call into a Munchkin rescue and am waiting a call back.

Ok, got a phone call from a hot sounding dog warden, lol. He's going to call me back tomorrow however because he looked for Bailey in the adoption room, and he's NOT in his cage. He looked at the paperwork in his file and said there is a possibility he went to either a foster home already, or he's going out for an adoption day this weekend. He said he is in tomorrow and will give me a call back after he gets to talk to the daytime staff.

I hope he's being fostered or something.

If they do do fostering, that sounds like a nicer shelter than we have.

I'll update you guys when I find out more tomorrow.

Received a phone call back from the dog warden.... Bailey is at the vet's for a long weekend. Apparently he wasn't feeling well and was vomiting and so he will be at the vet getting fluids and such, and should be back at the shelter early in the week. I'll call on Monday and see how the poor old guy is. When they feel he's safe enough to travel, I'll go and grab him. He probably stopped eating from depression is my guess, and they might have tried to force him to eat. :( :( Hopefully the little guy pulls through, and I can get him early in the week.

Prayers needed for this little guy!

Wow! They never called me. Maybe it's because I live so far away. Let me know how you make out, Jenn.

I haven't gotten any phone calls back. I know how crowded the foster homes are these days too. It stinks. :(

Jenn, I swear to God, you are a life saver for these precious animals. It doesn't matter if you can only keep him a short time, the fact is that you have made an effort to pull him out of the shelter.

I pray that he is going to be okay so you can go and get him.

I'm sending you a PM. :D

Oh Donna - I hope you hear from the Munchkin rescue! Are they maybe closer to Jenn than you are?

Prayers for the little fellow!

Still no word on Bailey.... :(

I emailed again (of course the first time no one responded... I swear they never do). Will call tomorrow during their shelter hours as well.

Hope he is doing ok.

I can't understand it. I've placed a call to the shelter everyday this week and no response. I'm HOPING Bailey got adopted and there's nothing seriously wrong with him.

GRRR!!! ARRRGGHHH!!! Why have a phone when you don't answer it and just let everything go to voice mail?!

This infuriates me to no end!

The Humane Society here in Allentown does the same thing, and they don't have email either. Ugh.

Still impatiently waiting....

Jenn

I sent you a PM. I received a call from the shelter and she said Bailey is still there. I told her I'd have you call them as soon as possible. She said they tried to call you and got a recorded message "unable to complete call as dialed". I told her you were located in PA and that's probably why.

Please call Jessica at 908-725-0308 asap. I told her we would be taking Bailey and she needed to talk to you since you live far closer than I do.

She also told me that no one has showed any interest in Bailey because everyone is looking for kittens.

Please let me now how you make out. I can probably foster Bailey once I'm in my new place which won't be till the second weekend in August.

I tried to call you but there was no answer and no machine to take a message. :(

As of right now, my phone line is almost non-existent. The company is bankrupt, and we got an email saying "Find new service now." Sigh.

Sunday is booked for me all day. Adoption day in another city and then I have a meet and greet for an FIV+ kitty later in the day. That kitty needs to get shots, and not sure when the shelter can schedule it, or if they will pick him up and take him there (they want to use one almost an hour away because it's cheaper  well, if it's my gas we're using, it's not cheaper for me!).

Also don't have the cash right now either. Had to give money to Verizon to set up an account for new service with the, although they can't guarantee it because they need to verify 911 coverage for broadband in my area. So, if it doesn't go through I'll be reimbursed, but I had to put the money out from my debit card upfront. gotta love it.

Only cash I have at my disposal at this moment is a home equity line of credit that is considered a cash advance at about 24% interest. I really really don't want to do that. If they took a credit card, I could use the one I have 0% interest on, but they want cash or check.

Finances are tight right now. Payday is on Thursday and my mortgage payment is overdue. Wells Fargo is not happy with me. Sigh.

Also, we'd need to figure out where Bailey would be staying because I have no where to put him if he doesn't like other kitties. If Precious doesn't stay at PetSmart tomorrow, or isn't adopted tomorrow, I have no empty rooms. Ally would beat him up, and the other cats upstairs are FIV+. I had thought originally, when this all started, that you had a foster place for him, all I needed to do was bail him out. I wonder if they would spring him for free if they knew I was with a rescue??? Can you ask her that??

Jenn,

I'll call them Tuesday on my day off. I'm still trying to get ahold of my friend at Helping Paws. She's at a cat show in Wisconsin for the weekend. Maybe she can foster him till I move. :(

I received an email from a gentleman named John Gill who asked me about Bailey. He lives a half hour away from the shelter and is picking Bailey up on Saturday. He's going to send me pictures once Bailey settles in.

WOOHOO!!!! Bailey will now have a furrrever home!!!

Have a great life, Bailey.

I am going to pick up Bailey tomorrow. We are glade to add a sweet boy to our crew.
All of the our animals over the last 25 years have been strays this will be the first from a shelter.
We have gone through 16 years with a diabetic (Patches), 4 FIV kittens ( Chocolate, Brutus, Tiger, & Morris). We try to give our family all the love and care they need. The crew as I stands now all came from our grounds, except Chessie he was born in a friend’s barn.

Thank you for giving Bailey a home! :)

Well Bailey came home Saturday. My wife feel in love with another "Festus" but he was already spoken for. But since we had two carriers with us and there were so many that were just so sweet. We couldn’t take just one. So “Leonard “ also joined us. He is about 2 and all white with just a sweety face.
Bailey has already investigated the whole house and has let every one know he is there. He grumbles every time he walks pass someone, but he is so sweet. At the shelter when I took him out of the cage he just settled in my arms. That did it. We have already bonded, he will come when I call, but he will not for my wife.
Leonard is a bit shy; he has only checked the first floor so far. The back room (used to be a bedroom) has become his safe haven. I am sure he will come around soon as he does recognize my wife’s voice. I am just allowed a good scratch.
