A couple of days ago, Luna started peeing on my rug again, and today, I found that she has even peed onto her and Lily's kitty bed!!! She never did that before, and she has it for years:
http://www.catmom.de/lily/ll5.jpg
When I saw that, I called my vet, and I was told to come over with her. There was no time to get a urine sample from her, but as the signs were so obvious, she got her usual treatment, including antibiotics. This usually makes her feel better immediately.
I also told my vet that I noticed an increasing stress situation between her and Lily. They still get along most of the time, but I often witness Luna being grumpy towards Lily when she wants to be left alone. And there are jealousy issues going on between the two of them. None of them can stand it when the other one has my attention.
Because of this, my vet recommended Relaxan. It's a stress relief, but is made of natural ingredients, such as vitamines, mineral nutrients and amino acids. My vet said that is has a very positive effect on the cats she gave it to, so we will see.

Hopefully the antibiotics will make Miss Luna feel well soon. I hope the other medication helps the stress as well. It is hard on us as fur Moms when our "kids" don't get along. I have always had a jealousy issue with Squeak. Ellie was fine, but she hated for him to be near me. She hates for ANYONE or ANYTHING to be near me. I would love to have another, but I know the stress for both of us would be too much! Luna will be in my prayers.

Poor Luna! I hope she starts to feel better soon!
I know all about the jealousy issues... believe me. I swear mine all want to claim a territory as theirs and they pee on it. It's been ages since I've been able to have a cat bed sitting anywhere, because about 30mins. after putting one down, someone would pee on it just to be spiteful. My fosters upstairs are much better about things, and they get all the cat beds they want!

So sorry to hear about Luna. Honestly, what's going on w/our furkids lately? Prayers sent out that she'll feel much better soon.

Thanks!
OMG, looks like these jealousy things are going on in many cat households!
I'm sure Luna will soon feel much better, usually the meds help her quickly.
But I'm a bit concerned about her relationship with Lily lately. Their jealousy is not about territories or food, it's all about me! And it's Luna who seems to be suffering from stress, at least at times. But my vet was very confident that the Relaxan will help her.

Kirsten - any more thoughts about using the pet psychic?
Kfamr and her dog Kiara in Dog General (p 2 right now) and Kalei with her rabbit Bunny, long deceased. (General p 2 or 3)
As their screen names are here, you may just want to PM them and find out about their experience. This Nancy will find out what they are thinking...and often the critters seem to know that YOU know after the reading, and the behaviour changes.
I hope miss Luna is better soon!

I'm sorry to hear this.:( I've also been having a lot of problems with aggression, jealousy, and also peeing issues but none of my cats have UTI's.
I recently had to add 3 more litterboxes and I also bought some cat attract litter and put this on top of the old litter that I use. Now they're been using all of the litterboxes and for now the peeing on the carpet has stopped.:) I don't know if they have this in Germany but you might want to look it up and find out. It's worked well for me.:)
I'm weaning Storm off of the clomicalm because he's been using the litterboxes again and it's not helping him with his aggressive behavior any more. The Relaxan sounds like something I'd like to try once Storm is off of the clomicalm. Can I buy this or is it a drug that needs a prescription?

Catty1, I'm actually thinking about contacting Nancy! I already read a lot about what she did for other Pet Talkers, and I would be very interested to know what Luna is "thinking". Maybe she's thinking I'm doing many things wrong, and sometimes I fear she's blaming me for adopting Lily, but on the other hand, she had these ocassional peeing issues long before Lily moved in. I believe it is her way to tell me something. But she also has real UTIs, caused by bacteria. My vet said that it's often stress that triggers the UTI.
krazyaboutkatz, this cat attract litter sounds interesting, but I never heard of it before, so I'm afraid it's not available here - at least not yet!
I'm sorry you're having these problems with Storm. I don't know if the Relaxan is avaible in the US, but it says on the package that it's only availabe in vet offices; at least here in Germany. It may take a few weeks until you see some progress, Luna has to take it for at least 4 weeks. I will keep you updated, if you like...

Thats One Thing That I Have Never Really Had At The Hotel Is Jealousy. They Seem To Get Along Very Well Although There Are Cliques Which Is Why You See The Same Cats In The Piles.

Oh poor Luna:( UTI's are not fun, my Bobo jus got over one about a month or so ago and he was going nuts over it. I'm glad you were able to get the medicine she needs, that way she will be cured as soon as possible:)
As for jealousy, I've never had that in cats before, but then again I really only have one cat, Cc our other older cat doesn't care about attention, but now that I have two, Bobo and Kalypso who knows maybe when Kalypso is older. But I hope that you can get it all solved soon. And Nancy would definately help;)

The Clan is sad to hear that Luna is not feeling well. Several of them, Norton and Tina Peepers, can relate to how Luna is feeling since they both just had bouts of UTI!!! Prayers for a speedy recovery for Luna, and hugs for Kirsten so she does not worry that much....

Hi Kirsten,
I hope that Luna recovers very soon. I f you don't mind pls let us know what Nancy says about Lilly ans Luna. To be honest I'm quite sceptic about this cat reading, I know that it has helped loads of PTers but I just cannot understand how somone can get a reading from the other side of the world! Without ever seeing the cat (fisically!)
I really hope she can help you with both your babies! Good luck!

Oh Kirsten, I am truly sorry. I know exactly how you feel: helpless, frustrated, guilty. Please give Luna a kiss from me and tell her I'm praying she gets better and stops with the chronic UTIs

I'm so sorry to hear that Luna has an UTI again! Poor girl and poor mommy!
Hey, I'm wondering about that picture you posted ... is there THAT much difference in their sizes or is that an old picture??? I'm confused!!

Thank you everyone! :) I think Luna is already feeling much better today. She didn't pee outside her litterbox today, and in her box I found a large amount of pee; so her bladder was really full when she went potty. :)
But guess who also has a bladder infection now? Right, meowmie barely slept last night and went to the doc today, and is now on antibiotics, too! LOL
Kim (catnapper), you're so right, among other things, I do feel guilty. I feel guilty when Luna comes to me, and I pet her and talk to her, and when Lily approaches because she heard me talking to Luna and then she's sitting there staring and that alone is enough to run Luna off. This makes me feel VERY bad! I know that Luna needs her peaceful little moments alone with meowmie, and often, Lily won't let us have them.
@ Kim (kimlovescats): It IS an older pic, taken the year Lily moved in. I was only looking for a picture that showed the kitty bed. But Lily is still much smaller than Luna, she's a tiny girl.

Luna peed twice on my rug last night, and when I cleaned her box this morning, I saw she peed several times tonight, but only small amounts. Called my vet and ask if she would give Luna another injection. She's still on antibiotics, but my vet suggested another shot against the inflammation and the spasms in her bladder. Hope this helps her to eventually feel better!

Kirsten, I am so sorry to read that Luna is still having problems!!! When Norton had the same problem, the vet gave him Phenoxybenzamine 2.5mg for straining. Can you get it in Germany??? It sure helped Norton!!

Poor Luna. :( Why do these nasty infections have to haunt certain cats ALL the time? I sure pray she feels better soon.

Hi Kirsten, How is our lovely Luna feeling? Is she doing better? Prayers on the way for her swift and complete recovery. Groucho sends her feel better purrs and headbumpies.
By the way, how's sweet Lily?

Thank you everyone!
Luna doesn't seem to feel bad, at least she doesn't give the impression. But I caught her in the act when she just wanted to pee on my couch (!!) this morning, so I figure she still has this odd feeling in her bladder. Poor girl!
It's really not fair that some cats, like Luna, or poor Pouncer, have to deal with this all the time!
kb2yjx, I never heard of this Phenoxybenzamine, but I will ask my vet about it.
momcat, Miss Lily is doing fine!! :) But she whined yesterday when I brought Luna to the vet.

I'm so sorry that Luna keeps having UTI's.:( I sure hope that she'll start feeling better soon.
I was reading about some ways to help prevent UTI's in cats that you can do at home. Here are some of the things that you can do to help Luna:
1.Give her vitamin C and cranberry juice. The vitamin C acidifies the urine making it more difficult for the bacteria to grow as well as dissolving the more common type of crystal, struvite. The vitamin C dose is 250mg per 20lbs daily.
2. Feed her more canned food to increase her moisture intake. Depending on the type of crystal that the cat may have it's important to either acidify the urine (with stuvite) or to make the urine more alkaline (oxalate crystals). An easy way to acidify the urine is to raise the meat protein level. Making the urine more alkaline involves decreasing the protein level and adding a supplement, potassium citrate.
I got this information from the free e-book veterninary secrets revealed. It's free to download this booklet that tells you some of the basics. here's the link: Veterinary Secrets Revealed (http://www.theveterinarysecret.com/?hop=guzel). You can also sign up for their newsletter which will tell you some more important information about our pets.

Thanks for the advice. I definitely need to try to get some cranberry juice. Cranberry, in addition with Vitamine C, is only available in capsules here, and I'm not sure if Luna will eat those. But it's worth a try though.
As Luna tends to have struvite crystals, we try to acidify her urine with UroPet paste. That's a paste I'm mixing under her food every day. She's also on Cantharis, a homeopathic pill that seems to help her a lot. But still, her UTIs occur from time to time; twice a year, as it seems...
