We're going to barbecue chicken on the grill. We have fireworks in our town but drive up the road a little ways because of the trees blocking them. I have the whole week off due to a plant shutdown, but hubby only has the 4th off. I hope everyone has a great 4th! :D

We're having family over for a cook out.

Just wanted to say...when you do the little apostrophe thing...the apostrophe goes where the missing letter would go. Example: doin' for doing and o' for of ;)

Our town is having a Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday and my mom, me, and probably Lily are going. Roxy is terrified of fireworks or she would probably go too.

Our city has a concert and fireworks on the night before. We usually go to that, take chairs, buy some Italian sausage and peppers subs and sit and watch -- people and concert both.

Then on THE DAY, we watch the Bristol Parade on TV. It is the oldest continuous parade in the country! It is a really big event in our state. In Bristol where the parade is held, they restripe Main Street annually, with red-white-and blue in place of the double yellow lines. The parade is about 4 hours. You really have to know someone and go in the night before or stay at a hotel if you want to be present. And thousands are present each year; over 200,000 last year! We are happy to be comfy at home and watch all the fun on the TV.

Here is a good article from a few years ago, too.

There are fierce competitions to be selected to be in the parade, by groups form all over the country.

Bristol has passed several laws in recent years to make the parade more friendly and family oriented. Example: you may NOT set up your chair curbside before 5:30 AM. Note: the parade doesn't even START until 10:30! Yup, this is a BIG deal, folks! Hope you all get to see it at least once in your lifetime!

My sister went to Europe for 10 days and will be coming back on the 4th of July, so we can't do anything except barbaque. Then, we have to go pick her up. We were supposed to go to a party at my Godfather's house in Staten Island but now we can't. :(

We're going out on our boat with my friends from another forum and their dogs - then coming back here for a BBQ and pool time. ;)

I'll be declaring my independence from another tiny nibble of my debt by going to work.

Well, it's on the 3rd, but...

Going to a BBQ/send off party/gaming session. Going to see off two friends. One is heading to AK for about 3 months. She's getting dropped off into the middle of no where and is going to be studying fish for her internship. Lucky bum... I wish i could study hard like her. The other friend has joined the Air Force and heads out for training this week or next week (He was already in a sub-division of the Air Guard.)

We're not really doing anything this year. Justin wanted to have a bonfire and cook out with some friends, but I don't want to deal with all that. We decided to just barbecue for the 2 of us and get some sparklers, we think Nathan will like that. We'll probably have a bonfire and cook out for labor day, when Nathan is a little older.

I know that I'm for sure working, but then so far I don't have any plans other than that.

Trying to find a parade that doesn't interfere with Jonah's nap time. :o

We are going to Richard's sister's house for a pool party and cookout. We were going to have it here but she beat us to it. I'm just as glad, I don't have to worry about someone (nephews) letting a cat out.

I'll be working all day. Hopefully it'll be a busy day at work, because it'll be worth it then ;)

But Friday hubby and I are going to the Folk Festival. It a huge event and lots of fun. I got free tickets from work. I'm seriously looking forward to it :) People have been telling me about it for years, long before I even moved to this area. Here's the link Kutztown Festival (http://www.kutztownfestival.com/)

Probably barbecuing, if it doesn't rain. If it does, I have clothes to pack up for Goodwill.

I'm going to see Nancy Drew and then out to dinner. Then I'll go home & watch the neighbor's fireworks. I have to stay home with Fenway because he gets really scared of the bangs. I have to work the next day, so no partying for me.

I'll be painting my rental house inside and laying laminate flooring in one room on the Fourth (fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth).

Is this why I have the holiday and vacation time off of 'work'?

well I am getting fireworks tonight. tomorrow night there is a huge firework show uptown and I think we're going and then on July 4th, I am going to help clean at the shelter where I volunteer at in the morning, I don't really want to go to the parade and we aren't going to be in it this year, because the dogs about died last year from the heat. :( so when I come home, we are having a bunch of company and a BBQ. :)

Well if my hopfully future dog passes his hip test today, then I should be getting him on the 4th! Which would make the 4th a wonderful holiday. ;) We are also going on vacation on Friday, so lots of packing.

My folks are in Indiana (from Florida) for my niece's wedding on Saturday, so I am going to visit with them at a cookout at my sister's house. I am sure we will also be working on some last minute wedding details also! Should be fun!

Doubt I will stay awake long enough for fireworks though, since I have to go to work the next day! :(
