Sure can. The water will turn browninsh or reddish and cloudy. Its very important you change it often if you suspect the fish has it, or remove the fish if you know which one.

I think Jaws had it last week!! LOL Seriously, I had just changed his water and a couple days later it was horrible. I had only had him a week and he wasn't really eating since he was getting used to his new home, but after I changed his water I could tell he was eatng a little bit last week. Maybe he was just getting used to his food or something, b/c I wasn't overfeeding him. I just changed his water and I am going to see what happens this week. :p
