Hi guys.
I'm really disappointed. Scrap did not work out at all. She was scared to death and growled and snapped at all the dogs and had her tail between her legs the whole time. I felt so sorry for her. Her foster mom said that she is on anxiety medicine already and she agreed that it would probably be best if she goes to a different home. She (Cheryl the foster mom) didn't discourage us from adopting from them again and was very pleased with our dogs and the yard etc. Our dogs were really not nice to her and that was the very first time that has ever happened. I can't tell you how badly I feel right now. I feel like a failure and I should know better, but I still feel that way.
Ok, I feel a little bit better now, thanks for listening.

Forgive me but I've been missing a lot lately. Who's Scrap and is there a thread I can read about her?
I am so sorry that it didn't work out. I know the heartbreak all too well.. :( Feel free to email me if you need to let out some emotions.. and I'm still gonna call!

I had just mentioned her on the Pet Refuge Needs Our Help thread and had been posting about her. She's on the website for Pet Refuge at www.petrefuge.com if you want to see her. I was more disappointed in our dogs' reactions than anything, but Mike did point out that she lashed out at them first, but that was out of fear.
I will check out the thread. I just looked at the website and I WANT MATTIE AND/OR SPICE!

Mattie really is a cutie! She was at the shelter last Saturday. She had an adoption pending the other day, but it's gone.:( Spice wasn't there so I don't know about her. I'm sure they could make some arrangements if you wanted her. Email them and see.

Sorry to hear Scrap didn't work out. I'm sure you know, some dogs personalities just don't go together. We took Sadie and Cincy to an adoption even t yesterday (unfortunatly the dog we wanted to meet had gone home with his foster mom already because of the heat) but another dog there that seemed really sweet, snapped at and barred her teeth at Cincy.
Sadie, who is super sweet to everybody and everything bit another dog on a walk the other day. The dog was jumping up at the fence it was in and barking and growilng and she must have seen it as a threat to us or Cincy, but she jumped up over the fence and nipped him on the nose. She has never behaved like that toward anything before. I don't think these bahaviors are any reflection on how we as owners treat our dogs, some personalities just clash.
Even though Scrap was a dog for you, I am sure there will be many more to come along that will love the dog haven you have at your home!

Thanks for the pep talk...it helps to hear that. I'm sorry to hear that Sadie nipped the other dog, but it sounds like he had it coming!! Was the dog you were looking for Yugo? Good luck on your search for your 3rd dog.

Yeah, it was Yugo. I went and met him ealier in the day, but Ralph was working and I just couldn't bring home a dog without him and the girls meeting it first. I still couldn't get Ralph at work so my parents drove up and we took the girls to meet him, but Yugo had a hot spot on his tail so his foster mom took him home. I gave the orginaization our phone # and she had called before I got home. I haven't called back yet...I just don't know! Ralph and I can make really good arguements either way for getting or not getting a third dog. And we are leaving on vacation next Saturday (although his foster mom said she would keep him til we got back...)but it hardly seems the right time to get another dog. Part of me says wait til you get back and if he is has found a forever home, it wasn't meant to e ours...part of me says you have always wanted a dal and here is this sweet boy, go for it! Why can't I just be a more decisive person?

Well, Yugo it REALLY cute. I'm not sure what I'd do in your situation. I guess my feeling is that if he's in a loving foster home, I would be less likely to get really desperate. That's what makes the Scrap situation easier, because Cheryl is really a nice person and so is her husband. But, if you want Yugo and the girls and Ralph like him....I'd so go for it...remember, you ARE talking to the woman with 15 dogs of her own! lol

I keep getting opinions from people who are not the ones to talk me out of it...I called my mom and told her to talk me out of it ( She has 3), I talked to another friend who only has 1, but is a huge dog lover and of course here....if I really wanted talked out of it I would call Ralph's mom. She loves our dogs, but with each of them, she tried to talk us out if it.
There are just so many things for us to think about. We want to start having kids in 1-2 years and 3 dogs with kids could get to be a lot. Also three dogs very close in age may be okay now, but as they get older their could be a lot more vet bills etc. Also, we would like to do some traveling before we start a family and it has been difficult to find people to watch our two for the week we are going to be gone in a few days. Our girls are so spoiled now, would they be too jealous of having to share that attention even further? We like to take the dog places with us and neither car that we have is big enough for 3 dogs and 2 people.
I start to decide to at least wait and see what happens when we get back from Florida, but then I think, he was so cool! I guess if I am having this many doubts though, now just isn't the right time...at least that is what I am think this minute...give me 30 seconds to change my mind :)

We're so sorry to hear that it didn't work out. I'm amazed myself that that happened after meeting Scrap personally.

Yeah, it pretty much sucked. Oh well, there is a perfect home out there for her. Why don't you guys take her?? <eg> Remember she liked Kia!! lol
Btw...after the game today, Mike and I went over to the campground and found out where to go to register and it's 12 dollars a day and there are showers and bathrooms. There are no assigned spots so we'll have to talk about that. If you want to bring a fan there is 110 hookup, but you'll also have to bring an extension cord. The place is really nice and all of it is in the woods and right by the river.
