on their way to work this morning. They live out in the country and people are always throwing junk out on the side of the road. Well, there had been a mattress in this one spot all week and when they drove by this morning my dad noticed a white towel on the mattress....and there was a tiny dog inside!!! So they stopped and my dad went to look at it or what ever when it growled at him and ran under the truck. So they couldn't move the truck at all. My mom got out to help him get the dog. The doggie (not a puppy) wouldn't come to my mom at all so she took the towel and laid it on the ground by the tire where the dog was hiding. The dog went right to the towel and curled up on it. So my mom picked HER up and they took her to work with them.
My mom says she is little, like Chihuahua size. She said she's tan and white and has fluffy hair. They tried to see if she wanted to eat, but she refused to eat anything. She drank a bunch of water and then threw up. So my parents employee kept checking on her all day and offering her a little water each time. She kept some of it down.
They are taking her to the vet on their way home tonight to have her checked out. I think she is sick and someone didn't want to deal with her so they dumped her there on the mattress.
So I asked if they were going to keep her and my dad said they will. I said well she needs a name to give at the vet's office. My dad is known for changing any dogs name when someone else names it. Kodi, their min pin, he calls Walter. Pepsi, the dog my mom saved, he calls Temporary (because she wasn't supposed to stay forever). So my mom told him to name her. He chose the name Teka - pronounced Tee-kah. I was suprised...that's such a cute name. :)
I am going up there tomorrow night and again for the 4th, so if she's still around I will take pictures of her. I just talked to my mom and she said one time when Sharon, the employee, went back to check on her she lifted her head and started wagging her tail. That's a good sign, right? :D

So, this is where I need PT to help out. Please hope this little girl gets a clean bill of health at the vets office tonight.

(sorry this post is sooo long!!)

How nice that your folks noticed, and rescued this girl! Let us know ... Hmmm, she's a Foundling, that's for sure ...

Fiona the Foundling? Fee for short? As in the vet's fee she'll cost 'em?

That is so great that your parents stopped and helped this little dog. I wonder why the poor dog was there. IT must have been through something to growl and curl up in a blanket, poor doggy.

I'm so glad you guys got her and she is now in safe loving hands:)

Prayers for that dear little one...it sounds like she is more relaxed from being inside and warm, and with nice people!

I hope she checks out well at the vet. :)

Teeka! Cute!

Well, Teka went to the bridge tonight. She had parvo. :(
That must be why someone dumped her on the side of the road.
But at least my parents were there to get her to the bridge and she did not die a slow death on the side of the road.

I am sorry Teka did not get a clean bill of health. But lucky for her your parents came by and sent her to the RB peacefully, not like the losers who dropped her off to die alone and scared. Now she is a healthy girl, spunky and playful at RB. She will be forever greatful for what your parent's did for her. RIP Teka.

Thank you everyone. I am bummed that I didn't get to see her. But I am glad they did not bring her home first. I think that would have been tragic for my parents Miniature Pinscher......he's over 17 years old.
She is all happy and not in pain anymore playing at the bridge with all the other wonderful doggies. :D

Just catching up with this. That poor girl, staying huddled with her towel. How sad!

I am so glad your folks stopped and helped out.

Oh no Cin, I am so sorry!!!!! That just really sucks...But at least you are right, she wont be suffering and was shown human love and kindness in her last hours, and the counts for something.
Rest in Peace sweet Teka.

How sad for that poor little thing... being sick and abandoned and only having a towel that is a comfort.

Bless your parents for taking her to the vet, and being there for her when she had to cross the Bridge.

wow. I got all excited when I read the first post and I thought everything was going to work out. Then when I got down to the update that said she had parvo, my heart sank. I'm glad your parents stopped to pick up the lost doggy and get her examined by a vet.
