Mom had a 24hr bug day before yesterday, Sis has tonsilitis....
And poor Sara has Kennel Cough *AND* a urninary track infection!
We're still trying to figure out how/where in the world she picked up Kennel Cough. She did stay at the Vet's for approx. 5 days back in late May/early June--if that's where she picked it up, it sure took awhile to develop. *Normally* they give her a shot for K.C. but this time we noticed they didn't charge us for one. (That figures; the one time she doesn't get it, is the time she contracts it. )
and re: the urinary track infect., it seems like she gets them so frequently. I'm wondering if it's ok to give dogs the cranberry tablets sold in healthfood stores? The poor pup is on Rx for havin' a leaky bladder as it is--and this kinda scares/alarms me, she's only 3!
Sophie doesn't know it yet but she has a "manicure appointment" on Monday morning--guess I will ask the vet then. After this 'round of Rx, there's gotta be something to help control/prevent this problem...
Poor Sara! :( I hope she will get better really soon.
And I want a report on Sophie's manicure appointment!:D

Gosh, it must be in the air! A few of my friends have had a virus of sorts, lasting three days. I have managed to avoid it.
I bet there all lots of Web sites about Sara's condition. I have often thought about WHY Vets DO NOT suggest cranberry tablets, but then I have never asked. Did you know that some pet stores sell the same RX in the fish section, that we end up buying from the Vet? My breeder told me about the availablity. I never knew. So when my first two cats got Girardia, (they arrived that way) I bought the drugs at PetsMart in the fish section! I did have the Vet diagnose them though, so I never try to save money that way! You can also order things through a great catalogue, on-line store: revivalanimal.com
I hope Sara gets better soon. I wonder if the leaky bladder and the infection are related?
Keep us posted!

Poor Sara, hopeing she gets 100% better.
Urninary infection must be very unfortable for her.
Good thoughts and well wishes for Sara and also

Sorry to hear about your pup. If your pup is getting UTIs frequently, then the infection was never treated completely.
When she is done with her meds, take another urinary sample and have the vet reanalyse it. If there are any crystals or even the slightest sign of infection, continue with the meds for another cycle.
Jazz had one when we adopted her. We did her meds accordingly, then the vet said the infection should be gone. Were we wrong. About 2 months later she got another. This time I took her to another vet my friend recommended, and sure enough, we had not treated the initial infection completely. We did another cycle of meds, did another test (some slight cell count still high) then another cycle of meds. The last urinary test we did on her, was perfectly clean. We have not had a UTI since.

Poor Sara! Cincy recently had kennel cough and I think it took about a month before it affected her. My mom's new pup had it (without them knowing) when they got him in May, and she started coughing in June. Cleared up in about a week.
Feel better soon Sara!

We haven't tried the cranberry tablets yet--I want to clear it with the vet first. I'm sure she'll eat 'em--she eats lemons when we let her!

Hey Stace--miss ya too!
Mom's doin' great & sis is *almost* up to par.
Sara is still havin' a bit of trouble but is on the mend. I was kinda worried about that sting--she's allergic to bees and I wasn't sure how she'd react to the scorpion.
Hopefully, I'll catch ya on IM later this wk.
Take care!
