ok, Rusty is driving us crazy, I swear, if he wasn't so cute.... well he marks like crazy! we cannot correct him in the act because he makes damn sure we cannot catch him in the act, he will NOT go in front of us. keeping him leashed are crated is all fine and dandy but doesnt teach him squat, all he learned from that was "dont mark while leashed or crated". quite litterlly if he is out of our sight for mere seconds, he marks more then you would think possable. last night, we said screw it and got him a belly band, which does discourage him in the least, in fact he completly saturates the band in seconds, I mean its like a $5 package of liners a DAY, and it has not even been 24 hours yet. I mean when he was new here, it was kind of to be expected(though not tolerated) with a mature intact male in a new home. however he has been here for several months, AND been neutered, and he hasnt even begun to quite, our bedroom doors are kept closed and are both in areas off limits to the dogs without supervision(gated) yet we go to bed to find our blankets and pillows have been marked. we are renovating a room upstairs(off limits to dogs, gated off) and he has several times in the past 2 days managed to mark the newly painted walls. this is driving us crazy. does anyone have any idea's we havent already tried?

The only solution I can see is to leash him to you. That way you can catch him at the moment he tries to mark. This is a pain for you---but the only way you can be sure he won't mark and the only way you can correct him at the right time. If he dislikes being leashed all of the time when he's in the house (but not outside), it might sink in. Don't expect immediate results. Give it a few days at least.

we tried that for weeks lol all it did was teach him not to mark in front of us.

Sounds like he's hard headed. I would probably keep it up--or make him stay outside most of the time. If you are taking him out at set intervals, he should get the message. Don't wait for him to tell you he needs to go. Set up a schedule and stick to it. When he is inside, he can be crated or tied to you.

If that doesn't work, I don't know what will. Maybe Nancy Efusy, pet psychic, can help. She got my old dog, Samson to stop watering my artificial plants and the dining room table legs. It was a worthwhile expenditure. Even my vet couldn't help.

Let us know of your progress.

The only thing I could think of was continue leasing/crating. We have this problem with Micki, he likes to mark beds  We keep the doors shut and watch him like a hawk. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
