Look at these cute babies we have in the shelter. They are about 3 months old. They were in isolation for awhile with no hair because they had mange :( They are all better now and in Pre-Adopt. They will be moved to Adopt this weekend. Sorry I had to take the pics while they were in their kennel, because whenever I take them out, all they wanna do is lick my face and I can't take the pic!

The first pug I ever met was the companion of a friend that was terminally ill. Even during his worst times, his pug was a comfort and very easy to care for. When volunteers came to his house to help, they never had to worry about dog mess or dog attitude. After my friend died, his dog was placed with a handicapped person, and brought that same wonderful spark and love to a new home.

On the silly side, when I would visit my friend, I would see his little black pug and think it was a little black piglet. With the curled tail and the pudgy body, I always expected to see a snout rather than a little button nose. What wonderful medicine in the form of a little round dog!

Oh Aly you have started up my pug pangs again!!! I love pugs!!! In fact today I was in the mall and, even though it is depressing, I always have to stop in at the pet shop there. There was a female pug who was giving me "the look" that she wanted me to take her home. :) These babies that you have found are just precious!!! I would love to have one or both of them! If I lived closer I might have to have a serious talk with hubby about adopting one of them. I'd also have to consult with Bella but I'm sure she'd give me the "paws up" in order to even out the cat/dog ratio around here! :) Thank you so much for posting their pictures. Please let us know when they find their forever homes. :)

Staci, I think they're probably mixed with something but I'm not sure what. The white one has a cute little crooked tail and the black one's tail is straight.

Pam, I'll let you know when they get adopted. I have a feeling they are going to go in record time. Everyone comes in wanting puppies of small breed dogs.

The are just adorable, I'm sure it won't be long before they are adopted.

Heheeh Pam, I knew you'd like them. That's really why I brought my camera to the shelter today. Now I wish I had taken better pics :(

They are both girls. Their names are Baby (white one) and Bubbles (brindle). They are from the same litter we are almost positive. They were left in a box overnight outside the shelter door. We weren't sure what kind of animal it was at first glance since they had no hair! (I sorta thought they were pigs, heheheehehehe). A girl who works in receiving wants me to rename them before they go to the Adoption area. Any ideas of names? :)

They are both REALLY sweet. I generally don't work with puppies but have been working with them a lot because they weren't handled or socialized since they were in isolation. Baby is the dominant, bold one who I am having one heck of a time training! She think she weighs 100 lbs or something. She's very protective of me and will bark ferociously at anyone who passes, especially dogs. She is slowly but surely catching on to my behavior modifications. Bubbles was like this at first too, but it took about 10 minutes and she caught right on what I wanted from her. I've worked with her for days since then and she is still being an angel. They both LOVE to be held and cuddled, and will just lick you to death! They also looooooove to play with plush toys and Baby is a pro at playing fetch. She even brings the toy back and drops it at my feet.

(Now I'll probably see Pam at the shelter tomorrow :D :D :D)

Pam, I am with you! I just love pugs!!!! My In-laws had a black pug and we watched him when they would go away. Since they are retired it was quite often. At first I didn't look forward to it since I didn't think I liked pugs very much. Then his sweet sweet loving personality won my heart, hook, line and sinker!!!! We bonded and the rest is history! He passed over to the rainbow bridge a little over a year ago and I still miss him terribly.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I hope they find a great home.

They are sooooo adorable.

My grandmother had a little pug and when my grandmother passed away they wanted to send it to the sheltr but I said no way, she was old and couldn't take the death of her mommy, the stress of a shelter, and re-ajusting to a new home (if she found one) and plus I loved that little dog. I begged my uncle to let me have her and finally he did. She lived for another 7 months and passed away, I think she wanted to be with my grandmother. But I was happy to know that she had a happy 7 months with me and that she is know taking care of my grandma again.

I would choose a name like, Love, Hope, Faith, Destiny ......

Oh, Aly, they are precious, and such smiling little faces for little ones who have been through so much. Of course I am attracted to Baby, the dominant, bold one... (i.e. NAWTEEDAWG) Pam, don't you think the Pet Talkers could arrange a cross country caravan to bring Baby to New Jersey?

They are so adorable! If I was on that side of the country, I sure wouldnt be here typing...I'd be at that shelter filling out adoption papers!! :D

I hope they get adopted soon, and good luck with training! ;)

No news on the pugs because I wasn't able to go to the shelter today due to bad news about Mocha, the dog I took through obedience.

Mocha has been in the shelter since late February. She had a brother she grew up with but we were forced to seperate them since we couldn't adopt them together. Her brother got adopted in March after only 2 weeks or so. Anyway I had talked a volunteer into fostering her since I can't (stupid pet limit). I got an urgent call this morning that Mocha was growling at people trying to take her out of her kennel for walks so we needed to do the home visit with her ASAP. It didn't go well. She wanted to chase the cat and would not focus on anything else. We never even got to take her leash off. So I spent the day putting my head together with a few other people's from the shelter. Then I came home early. I am working on finding another foster home for her.

I will check on the pugs tomorrow when I'm there. :)

I spent 10 hours at the shelter today and have very good news on the puggies. Really terrible news on Mocha though.

The pugs were just moved out into the adoption area this afternoon. They were re-named Betty and Wilma. Baby(white one) is Wilma and Buttons is Betty. I'll just refer to them as Buttons and Baby so I don't confuse anyone. A very nice girl in her twenties is going to adopt Baby. I counseled her for an hour on any issues that might come up with temperament. She was very willing to do anything for the dog. She works as a nanny and will be taking Baby to work with her every day. I can tell you guys this was a wonderful adoption. The girl was nice as can be and would fit in perfectly here. She had been looking for a dog for 18 months. She just wanted to make sure she was ready first, and that she found the right one. She also said it was a MUST that she be able to take her dog to work. She already named Baby. I can't even spell the name. It's Princess Dul(something really long), and she will call her Dulsie for short. That dog will be totally pampered (but in a good way, I counseled her on all the small dog issues and what not to do). She can't pick Baby up until Wednesday because we need to spay her. In the meantime, I gave her PLENTY of handouts to read.

A couple in their 20s looked at Bubbles for a long time. They came in specifically wanting either a pug, boston terrier, or bulldog. I talked to them for a long time about proper training because they were a little inexperienced. They are not positive about the adoption and have until tomorrow to decide. If they decide to adopt, I feel very comfortable about that adoption too. They were both really nice and wanting to learn.

I won't post my bad news because I don't want to upset anyone after reading the really good news about the puggies.

Aly, you have had a long day and it was so nice of you to take the time to post that update. Things sound good for Baby and I hope that Bubbles will be placed soon and with the right people. Actually I think I would have chosen Bubbles first. :) I love her coloring and what a sweet face! I am going to stay tuned for some good definite news about her too. Sorry, it was not a good day for Mocha. When you feel up to it, let us know what happened. :(

I am so happy to hear about the pugs' good future! I knew those cuties would get adopted quickly. Congratulations to them! Sorry about Mocha. I hope the news isn't too bad.

It is hard to believe someone just dropped them off, but, Thank goodness they took them to a caring place, which I am sure they knew they would be cared for properly. Bless all of you. What a great Service you are doing. And Am, sure you do it out of pure LOVE. Hooray for YOU. :D

The puggies went home today. I thought they would be spayed on Tuesday but weren't spayed until Thursday. I saw them both go and their humans were SO HAPPY. That couple did end up deciding to adopt Bubbles. They are very nice and excited about their baby. They named her Chloe. And of course Dulsie went home to be a little princess!
