On June 6th, I see the heart specialist so that he can shock my heart into a more normal rythym. I'm not sure what this involves, but it sounds like something I wouldn't look forward to! Has anyone had it done and can you give some details? It sounds like I'm being jump started!

Wow! Make sure you're appointment is at a Dr.s office and not a car repair shop! ;) :p
I've never heard of anyone having that done, I'm sure they do it all the time and they'll think nothing of it! Don't you hate when they do that!
Are they only going to have to shock it once and it will stay on a more normal rhythm? Or is this something you'll have to go back for once in a while??

It'll be definitely be at the doctor's office! I'd be a little leery if they brought out the jumper cables! Seriously, I'm not quite sure how they're going to do it. I'm hoping it's a one time proceedure and I don't have to come back. I'm still a little nervous thinking about it. I can use prayers and thoughts right now.

I've heard of that before, but I found it really scary. I thought they only shock your heart when it is failing?? I doubt I'd get it done, I wish you the best of luck. I have something wrong with my heart too, doubt it's the same type of thing but I have to go to the hospital once a year to get it checked out.

Actually Bruce's mother just had that done last week. It's called Cardiac Ablation. Is that what you are doing? Her heart was not beating fast enough. There were 4 seconds between beats. She had the ablation and they were able to fix the Atrial Flutter, but not the heartbeat (she's had open heart surgery in the past). So they immediately went in and inserted a pacemaker.
I'm sure you've already done extensive research on this, but I found this website (http://www.hrspatients.org/patients/treatments/cardiac_ablation.asp).
She is already back to her normal life, in fact she's going with us to Tahoe this weekend. Oh, she is also 68 years old, if that makes a difference.
But with just the ablation process it is an out-patient procedure and you'll be home that night.
Good luck. :)

My goodness, David. You'll certainly be in my prayers. Any thing heart related worries me even though I have had a heart murmer for years with no problems from it.

I'm not at all sure what this particular "jump start" involves, but my Father-in-Law had a similar procedure done last May, his Heart Specialist referred to it as "Cardio Version. He's doing GREAT!!! ( I'll ask him about it , one more time) ;)
I'll be thinking of you on June 6th~ You will most certainly be in my Prayers!!!

Dorothy, that sounds like the same proceedure they're going to use on me. I googled it and got some further information. Just for luck (and I enjoy it!) I'm watching the Wizard of Oz on my DVD right now!
