Oh, dear. Well, old man, I hope you enjoyed the ride to the Rainbow Bridge. So glad you were loved and cared for the last couple years after the rescue, and that you got extra hugs from Tonya last you met. Rest in peace, now, dear boy. Plenty of sniffs to follow up there at the Bridge I am sure, and then go find my Sheba, and all the beloved dogs of Pet Talk - they'll have tales to share and know where all the treats are stored.

Hugs and prayers Phred. RIP Bowser.
Phred tears are streaming down my face. Your tribute to Bowser touched me deeply. I remember Bowser's story from Day One. I know it must have seemed like a fairy tale for him to come live with you and Cinder, Smokey and Boots at the ranch. You made a very special difference in his life and we all thank you for that. When it was time for him to go you let him go lovingly.
Bowser, we all wish you happy trails at the Bridge and I know there is an ever increasing number of PT dogs who have gone before who have already greeted you. Tonya big (((hugs))) to you too.

:( Peaceful journey, sweet, Bowser. You'll have lots and lots of other PT pups there to greet you & show you around the place. And you'll be motoring around on four good legs again, buddy. We'll all wave "hi" to ya this weekend at the pic-nic, I know you'll be watching from that silver cloud! I'm so glad I got to know you, little guy. Look in on the bus driver dad and your siblings, and Tonya, too.
Big (((hugs)))), Phred. :( What a beautiful tribute.
Aww Phred I'm so sorry it was his time to go. You gave him such a great life. It was always so nice to see the stories and hear about him. As much as you will miss him, I'm sure he will be missing you too. Prayers to you and those left here to comfort your hearts.

I thought you were one of the cutest, furriest, fluffiest little guys I'd ever met. You were so sweet and seemed to just "fit" into your new family, like a perfect puzzle piece.
I'm going to miss those beautiful eyes of your sweet guy.
Run through those RB fields on 4 good legs with all the other PT pups and if you don't mind find my two, Keisha & Angus and tell them mommy sends hugs and kisses.
You will be missed...

Phred, you and the gang gave that guy the best two years of his life. I'm sure he couldn't have asked for a better bus driver and mate.
Lots of (((HUGS))) being sent to you.

OMG... Phred... I'm so sorry Bowser was called to the bridge.
:(
It's hard to see through the tears right now.
You made the last 2 years of his life his best and he'll never forget that.
I'm glad I was able to meet Bowser at the Husky Hike last year, and I'm sorry I won't get to see him again this weekend.
He'll all better now, running like a pup again.
Many many {{HUGS}} to you Phred.
We'll all celebrate his life this Sunday at the park!

Bowser certainly gave us all some laughs and great stories over the past two years. I glad I got the cahnce to know him. His sweet face will be missed this weekend and always.

I can barely breath because of the sobs which eminate from deep within me.
Bowser was blessed to have spent these last years at The Ranch. The love and care shown by his housemates and new dad were beyond what any dog could have dreamt possible. He gave us a few scares along the way with his adventures in the neighborhood but also gave his appreciation and love in return.
Bowser, you were so dear to us and I know there will be a deep void left in the hearts of those who love you. You represent the epitomy of so many efforts on your behalf and why it was all worth it. We will never forget you nor those whose lives you touched.

Dear Phred, your tribute moved me to tears. You were Bowser's special guardian angel on Earth when he was in a hopeless situation, and now he will be your very special furry angel from above to watch over you, Cinder, Smokemutt and Boots.
Bowser, what a wonderful, adventure filled life you lived with two wonderful human dads that loved you deeply. I bet you are running through sunny green fields with all the other young and healed furry ones, your tongue lolling, tail a-wagging and eyes laughing. You will certainly be missed down here sweet boy. :(

Phred you have an amazing way with words. You have me in tears here. You did an amazing thing by rescuing Bowser and he'll always be your angel because of it. I'm so sorry to hear that Mr. Bowser had to take his trip up to the Rainbow Bridge, but I'm so glad he had such a good retirement with you. He got to appreciate life and live as a dog deserves to live. Bowsers time with you was short, but it was packed full of enough love to last a lifetime.
Rest in peace, Bowser, you most special boy. Please say hi to my boy Graham, and have yourself a wonderful time at the bridge.

Your house will be a bit emptier now, but I know that your hearts will not be. You were all wonderful to take this special little boy in, and he was lucky to have been loved and accepted by all of you. Phred, your efforts and love have definitely made a difference in the last two and a half years of his life, and I am sure there is no other way he would have wanted it to end than to have some quiet alone time with such a special man. {{{Giant Hugs}}} to all of you.

The family that always prays for all of us and our pets and our families has lost one of their own. :( I cannot tell you how sorry I am that he is gone, but thank you for loving him and for allowing him to go on his own terms. What a peaceful, loving picture I have in my head of Bowser's last night on Earth. Just beautiful. I'm going to pray for you and Bowser, Phred. I hope his transition to heaven, where there are so many wonderful, new friends, waiting, was smooth. And I hope your heart can feel good in that you did your absolute best for this boy.
Tonya, my thoughts and prayers are with you, too. It was a wonderful thing that you two teamed up to do for this boy and I don't think any of us will ever forget that adventure and the effort it took to pull it off.

Bowser you were such a special little fluffy boy loved near and far. You couldn't have asked for a better home since you couldn't be with Granpa. Someday when the pain eases a bit for NewDad I know you will send him a little sign to let him know that you are indeed well, healthy, happy and BOUNCING everywhere.
I know that the granma you never met plus several others and all of Phred's furkidz before you and several of PT's own met you @ the gate of the bridge to give you a warm welcome. I know that Karen's Cody ushered you right to your family.
We will miss you very very much, but both of your dadz will see you again someday.....
we love you Bowsie Boy....

I cannot express to you in words how very sorry I am to hear of Bowser's trip to the bridge. Was it time? Prolly past time. You gave Bowser the best possible life anyone could. A second home. A second chance. I can only imagine that love flowing from Bowser to you was equal to the love flowing from you to Bowser.
Many special prayers being sent, to carry Bowser to the RB, to the pups and kat still with you, and for you, dear, dear, Phred.

The family that always prays for all of us and our pets and our families has lost one of their own. :(
Amen!
I finally made it back to finish reading your beautiful post Phred, I was crying far too hard this morning to finish reading it.
Oh... Bowser was loved by so many people!
You are just as lucky to have had him in your life as he was to have you in his.
{{Hugs}} to you also Tonya.
When I read your email this morning my own reaction was to break out in uncontrolable sobs. And that old wave of grief gripped me as though it was my own that had been lost.
In a way, Bowser did belong to all of us. Phred from the very first time you heard about Bowser and your incredible trip to rescue him, I think all of us fell in love with him. "yes, we are going to find Bowser a good home".........we all privately laughed at that, because it was clear that Bowser DID have a new home and he wasn't going anywhere.
You should be so proud of yourself, you gave this elderly gentleman a great life filled with fun and adventure for the final years of his life. He must be running around telling everyone at the Rainbow Bridge his good fortune in being adopted by such a wonderful man.
My heart breaks for you and Tonya as well. It is a huge loss and it will take some time to settle into the reality.
I give you the biggest hug possible..........I really wish that I could.

I am so sorry to read that Bowser passed on. I had followed the Bowser stories from way back when, even if I didn't reply. He was always a favorite of mine here on pettalk. What a sweet dog.
Well, you made his last few years full of life and i am sure he will always be grateful for you being his angel in disguise. Thank you for taking him in and allowing him to share in your life and Cinder and Smokeys.
My goofy boy Dale is up there and I am sure he welcomed Bowser with lots of sloppy licks :) I wish I could watch them play up there, I can think of what it must be like for them at the Bridge, everyday must be beautiful. Enjoy those streets of gold Bowser, you will be fondly missed.

Bowser was a lucky dog. Not many seniors find a such a perfect home late in their lives. It takes a special kind of person to adopt an animal knowing they will leave sooner rather than later. I'm glad Bowser found that kind of person and sorry he didn't get more time with his "new Dad".
Godspeed Bowser. Rest well, little fella.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Phred. Hugs and prayers for your hurting heart.

Oh, Phred, I am so sorry! I can't believe Bowser is gone. He will be sorely missed by all of us - I am surprised to find it was only two years you had him - it seems like much longer that he has been a part of the PT family. It will be very sad not to see him on Sunday with Smoke and Cinder on their three way leash tied to the tree at the shelter overseeing the cooking of burgers, hot dogs etc. Or see his slow meandering gate as he takes his time walking around the dog park too dignified to get caught up in the antics of the younger dogs.
You have indeed been a hero to an old dog who needed a home to go "home" from. Not many people would go the the lenghts you did to "save" him and give him such a loving home in doing so.
RIP Bowser!

Ok, I've looked at this thread 4 times already and each time I'm sent off in tears. So this time I'm just here to post and run. Your tribute is so darn touching and well written, I've never cried so much for an animal I never met for real. Clearly you had a lot of love for Bowser and he for you. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.
Bowser, sweetie, now that you're at the Bridge and feeling fine, take a minute to look up my sweet Sami girl. She was my very own first doggie and she left me 3 years ago. She'll be fun for you to hang with.

When I first joined PT I stumbled across the old thread about how Bowser came to be with Phred. That's one of the main stories that got me hooked on PT. It showed what people will do to help save an animal.
Thank you Phred for giving Bowser all the love he deserved in his last two years.
RIP Bowser. :(

It is with heavy heart that I type these words. I now know I've been away from PT for too long, and am so sorry that it is the death of such a dear doggy friend that brings me back.
Phred, I am so very sorry. :(
Bowser, I am so glad I was able to meet you in person. You were a bit of trouble for New Dad when you first arrived, but I know he really didn't mind any of it and was just glad to be able to help. Yes, we all knew you weren't going anywhere - find you a new home, yeah right, why would you need a new home when you were now in the best home you could ever hope for? ;) :( Be sure to remember to send a message home to da bus driver so he knows you arrived at RB safely. He and the rest of the clan are going to miss you so very much. :( :(
{{{hugs}}} to you, Phred, and you too Tonya. You have both lost a dear friend and like others here, I hope the pain is quickly replaced by warm memories. :(

I talked to Phred tonight and we shared a few tears, a few laughs, a few fond memories of Mr. Happy Fluffie Tail.
The "tail" of Bowser is one of friendship, compassion, kindness, and love.... for fellow humans, for our furry friends. I am so very thankful for "The Bus Driver" and his willingness to open his heart and home to an older guy down on his luck. {{hugs dear friend, many many hugs}}
I am also so very thankful for the many PTers who pitched in with the "Thank You, Phred" box. {{Thank you a million times over.}}
~~~~~~~~~~
Bowser, I hope by now you've been restored to the playful puppy I remember from my childhood. I'm so very glad that I got to see you (and your "New Dad") last fall. Here's to many "hunts" and "hikes" in the hills of Heaven. Please look for Sophie (she's probably in one of the many parsley patches), Tom and ButterScotch (remember them? they met you a few times); send them all a *slurp* for me.
I love you, lil' guy.
~~~~~~~~~~
:( Through teary eyes, I thank Phred, thank PT, and thank God once again for the out-pouring of love on a small, fluffy doggie with a waving tail and an endless smile.

I am still new (I've only been around a few months) but wanted to say how sorry I am that Bowser had to go to the bridge. I do not know the story of how you and Bowser became buddies, but it is so apparant that you loved each other tremendously.
Rest peacefully, sweet Bowser.

Even with my yappity mouth, there are times that I can't express fully how deeply sad I am, for your loss Phred. Bless you forever for taking in such a deserving pup into your life and on to the Ranch. Although 2 years wasn't long enough, you gave the fluffy, smiling boy, a happy, exciting and loved life. Thank you for keeping him comfortable in your loving arms when his time came.
I don't even have to reread his arrival story, I remember it so clearly. I was in awe of you and the events you went through.
Have a safe trip to the Bridge, fuzzbucket. Thanks Staci for remembering my Cody as the official Bridge Watcher and Caretaker. I know already that he's taking special care of Bowser and watching over him while he plays and runs with all our babies.
Blessings on you, my "Toots" and Tonya. You done good.

Phred,
Please let me reach out across the miles and give you a HUGE hug.
It was with such a heavy heart that I opened this thread, because I knew I would be in tears reading your special tribute, a tribute only you could write.
What a wonderful, wonderful thing you did taking Bowsie in, and giving him the most wonderful two senior years of his life.
Zippy - I am so sorry you lost your childhood pupper, but I know you were so glad that he found a beautiful home with Phred.
I am so sorry I never got to meet you Bowser, but I "met" you through your Dad's loving words, and act of kindness.
Play pain free at the Bridge darlin boy, the world seems a sadder place today without you in it.

THANKS, Pet Talkers ~ MANY, Many THANKS!!
You can't imagine how much this outpouring of Love and Affection -
to me and the little Fluffie Mutt we called Bowser, has meant to me.
His passing hasn't really sunk in ...
* I got the Third Bowl ready for supper
* I called his name from the front porch a while ago when "only" Cinder & Smokey
appeared after an outie ...
* I keep looking behind the 'puter chair before I "back up" - he usually lay
right there were he'd be sure to get run over every time I moved the chair.
* Every time I look out the window - I'm sure I see that Fluffie White Tail *waving* http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/frown.gif

Phred he wouldn't want you to be sad. He would want you to remember his spirit and his character and smile many smiles for the little man that only Bowser could be.

Sudilar, how wonderful to hear from you! Isn't it heartwarming to hear from the family when the family needs to pull together *warm sigh*. Easy goes it Phred, stay strong.
To me, this is the essence of Pet Talk. This is what it is all about. We are here together when our pets are raising hell, misbehaving and causing trouble.
We are here together when there are litters to rejoice over and pray that each gets a good home. We are here together to praise a rescue and know that at least one more pet has found a good loving home. We offer advice and suggestions when one of ours is ill.
And we here together when a beloved pet has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge and we become somber and show an outpouring of love and compassion for our fellow Pet Talker.
We know each other - maybe we haven't met in person, but we have talked on the phone or p/m'd and emailed each other.
We are people who dearly love our pets. The pets that share our food, our beds and our hearts.
When one is lost - it tears all of us apart because we understand the horrible loss and gut wrenching pain that comes with the loss.
We love you Phred, and only hope that Bowser will give you that sign that he is alright and looking down on you with great love and gratitude for the wonderful life you gave him.
Until you meet again................................

I just want to make another post because my first one was too vague.
I read the story of Bowser and Phred to. It was around the time I first joined...and that story is what hit the nail on the head for me. I don't exactly know if I would have joined PT if not for that story. It portrayed the true loving, kind spirit this forum truly has. If not for you, "New Dad", who knows what would have happened to Bowser. Although his time with you was short, you let him live his golden years out in complete happiness and he was very grateful.
I am again so sorry for you loss.
RIP sweet boy, and please show your Daddy a sign that you're OK.

Today, May 24th, is gonna be a *Ruff* one here at the Ranch ... :(
One long & short year ago, our Beloved Fluffy-Tailed FluffBall, Dear Bowser,
said his G-Byes and departed for the Rainbow Bridge. :(
Today will be a sad one, but filled with the hundreds of Happy Memories of the Joyful Tymes
Bowz shared with me, his loving "Second Dad", Bus Driver, and obedient Butler.
I still use HIS food scoop to measure out Cinder & Smokey's meals ...
just couldn't throw that now extra one away.
Do Cinder & Smokey *miss* their Lil Brudder?
It would be a stretch to say they miss him now - it's been a while in a Dog's mind ...
But they sure did MISS him a year ago. I'd forget and call all three names ...
C&S would *look* for where the Lil Guy had wandered off to ...
Bowser was truely Blessed with a pair of "siblings" that accepted him into a pretty *tight*
group of two ... they became the Three Amigos the first night Bowz spent at the Ranch!
He really had trouble 'keeping up' with the Big Dawgs ... his half-sized legs had to
take a LOT more steps to keep up with the youger set ... but they usually slowed
their pace a bit to let him catch up. And when Bowz wanted a rest stop -
EBBERbuddie stopped together (usually). Then again, Bowz got pretty good at
tucking up into a ball and just *tumbling* along behind the other two!
He took some wild rides tied behind C&S - but ALWAYS came up *smilin* and *wavin* his
famous Fluffie Tail! :D
If you're new to the Bowser Tails ... it all started out at 9:00 on January 11, 2005
with a somewhat frantic post by Zippy-Kat ... "A Plea for HELP!!"
Less than 24 hours later Cinder & Smokey had been dumped with Cali, Unka Pat and Miz Joan;
and da Bus Driver was headed into the Hills of West Virginny with the Rescue Bus ...
on a summer-like day with the threat of an approaching Bilzard!
But don't let me spoil the Tail ... read all about it at >>>
http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=68494 (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=68494)
But don't ever let it be said that I din't have HELP!
Lordy, did I have HELP!
Lil Cali Pup, and her Mom & Dad (Pat & Joan) have taken the FurKids in more times than
I could ever count; watched 'em through my :eek: heart attack and hospitalizations;
then Zippy-Kat organized the "Phred's Thank You Box" AND a huge Donation;
A Zillion Pet Talkers took bets that Bowz was NOT needing a Furrever Home;
and the list of Phans & Supporters grew every day. :)
And of course - my very 'speschul thanks' to Dear Zippy-Kat -
without her, and her beloved GranPaw - I'd have never had Bowser to share my life with.
I often asked Bowz if he was 'happy' with his second Family ...
he rarely gave *kisses* --- but he sure could *WAVE* that Fluffie Tail!
I always took that as his sign that Life at da Ranch was pretty much A-OK!
THANKS, God, for letting us 'borrow' him for a while ... it was way too short of a stay;
but I tried to make it a truely Happy Tyme for the Lil Guy.
Luv ya, Bowz!!

I remember a year ago, baking cookies to take with us to the dog park, experimenting and making a Bowser-shaped cookie. Funny, but with all the cookie cutters I own, there wasn't a-one the right size and shape. He was a unique little guy, with a heart as big as all outdoors. That fluffy flag-tail waving surely warmed hearts wherever he went, and I am sure he's met my mom and his grandmom as well as his first Dad up there at the Rainbow Bridge.

My grandpa loved that lil' dog dearly but age kept gramps from giving Bowser everything he needed. Bowz was fed and he was loved but a 90yr old man can't readily give him adequate exercise/play time. You provided him that and more. Thank you, Phred, for giving Bowser the best years he ever knew.

Sunday afternoon we had a lil Gathurin in the new PT Memorail Tree 'Grove' ...
I thought Bowz might fancy the lil Buckeye Tree ... so we tried that one on for size.
(Shhhh ... don't tell the Powers the Be!)
Into the lil grave under the Buckeye Tree went some Bowser Dust,
joined by Diana & Carl's beloved Snoopy, represented by one of his
favorite Dawg Park Bandannas, and followed by some Boots da Kat Dust
(gosh, don't tell the Mutts!)
The FurKids and I checked back on 'em Monday evening ... they'd all "settled in" together
and should be happy with their own place, and always among Friends.
Good Buddies and Big Brudders are always *stoppin by* to say Hello!

I don't get on here very much anymore, but Bowser's story was one of the first ones I ever read and followed on here when I first found this site.
