I am trying to decide what kind of toy or terrier breed I want to get and maybe breed one day. I would love to hear some advice from you guys.
CRITERIA
I want a dog that is lively, even a little spunky, smart, grooming is not a big deal so I don't really care as far as that goes. No more than 15 pounds. The noise does not really matter since I will have them inside some, but they will have their own small air conditioned and heated kennel for most nights.
So any advice?
Be sure and check out my website it has tons of info about diffrent toy breeds and terriers including pictures. Be sure and sign the guest book and tell me what you think. Thanks
My Website is at www.autumnsdogs.dog-on-line.com

What traits are you looking for in a dog? An active dog, or a lap dog? Do you like a "chatty" dog - one who barks a lot, or would you like a quieter one? What are your criteria?

I edited your link to your site - you had put a period at the end of the URL, which somehow redirected it to another (improper for children) site! It's fixed now, though.

hey there autumn...
I was checking out your website and reading the description
on the Cairn Terrier. Not so sure about that "matted mess"
statement on their hair. It's been my experience that one of
the great things about a Cairn is that you get that scruffy
look without the matted mess. I take mine hiking through
mud and sticker burrs and have never had a matting problem.
The mud just drops off their fur when they dry and the sticker
burrs will easily pull out without getting entangled in their hair.
Because of the wired top coat, things don't get tight against their
skin causing a huge matting issue, like say with a Lhasa Apso
or Old English Sheepdog.
I love the scruffy look and always dreamed of having an Old
English Sheepdog, but I'm realistic about myself not being the
type of person to groom my dog everyday. So I went with the
Cairn and haven't regretted it even a moment. They have been
a hair Dream, not Nitemare.

Edited to Add: I've got a friend who's a groomer and two of her
favorite breeds to groom are Westies and Cairns. Due to ease
of hair and their good attitude about being groomed.

I have a toy breed (maltese) they are loving, trustworthy and cute, but need so much attention (actually they demand it) and I grew up with a terrior (wired-haired) who was also loving and trustworthy, did not demand lots of attention unless he was ready to play. Hope that helps!
