Some pics from where my hubby is working for the next few months.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/scenery07/muskwahome.jpg
His summer home. He took our camper and Blackie the truck. He could stay in a wall tent with the other staff, but he wanted his own space. Since he's the boss of many of the workers, he didn't really want to live with them too! Plus Muskwa is more comfy in the camper. Muskwa is apparently being a very good boy out at camp. There are other dogs to play with, rabbits to chase and unlimited digging spots. It's a mine site so digging is encouraged! A tired husky is a good husky!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/scenery07/bridge.jpg
The first big project was building a bridge so that the other workers and big equipment could get in safely. Bridge had to built without disturbing the creek below!

A view from the "office". Stuart is the maintenence manager of the entire property, which covers close to 20 square miles of land!

As close as we get to a sunset this time of year. Taken at about 11:30 pm.

Home Sweet Home ... be it ever so Humble! :p
He musta furgot to pack the Front Steps ... gotta *watch* that FIRST Step in the morning!
What days does the Maid come?
The Guard Dawg looks ever-vigilant.
*NICE* view from the "Office".
Just how "primitive" is it?
* Any "running" water - as in running IN a Pipe, not running in the Creek?
* Any HOT water?
* Does the potty *flush* ... or is it the outy-house  style?
* Is there a Kitchen & Dining Room ... or a chuck wagon and cookin fire?
Hope The Boy doesn't regress back to a Cave Man before he returns to civilization!

No, no running water. They have a couple holding tanks, one at the "shower tent" and one at the cook shack. Water is pumped from the creek into those for cooking and washing. I think they have set up a woodstove boiler unit in the shower tent so they have some warm water. Porta-Potties and outhouses only.
There is a camp cook who uses propane powered appliances to prepare meals. The kitchen is a wall tent and the dining room is another tent nearby! There is a generator for some electricity.
They finally found a brand of satelitte phone that gets reception there so he can call home occasionally. It's a couple bucks a minute to talk on a sat phone though so calls are rare and short!
He wasn't far from a cave man before! If Stuart had his way, we'd live like that all the time! When he used to guide in the summer/fall, he'd be completely "bushed" when he got home. Almost got ran over the first time he went to town; he had completely forgotten about traffic!

WHY have I secretly thought this all along? ;)
I guess this means they're still *waiting* for the Maid?
Hope he adjusts to not having his sheets *ironed* every night.

LOL, I don't think that will be much of an adjustment. I have trouble convincing myself to iron my work clothes; I've never ironed a sheet in my life! It's a rare day that I actually make the bed!

Gowrsh ... ya got an Ironing BOARD, too?
Iffin it's not "Wash 'n Wear" ... then it's Wash an Wear WRINKLED! :p
Be Careful with that "makin the bed tail" ... if Your MOM reads that,
your Phone's gonna <ring>!

Ah, Mom is well aware of my aversion to making the bed. Just a couple days ago she told me that my neice is just like me. Mom had made Hannah's bed and then Hannah was mad at her cuz she'd "just got the blankets comfy" and Grandma had ruined it by making the bed! :p

Nice Line!
Wish I'd thunk of that back in the Good ole Daze when I couldn't get
breakfast till I'd swear to Mom I HAD "made" my bed.
Of course she always RE-made it after I'd left for school. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif
She just couldn't handle a "lumpy" bed!
(And often she'd find little Mutt Dawg "Lady" being the primary "Lump" ... she having been
ON the bed when I threw the covers & bed spread more or less in place.)
Oh ... and Mom *ironed* all the sheets & pillow cases! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

Wow, very pretty place! Hey, if he's comfortable enough....and the pay is good enough....home is where you hang your hat, or where your huskie sleeps, or something like that! :p
Muskwa must be in heaven with no-limits digging and free-range squeeky toys hopping around! (He looks very cozy with his butt on the ground and his head on the bed!)

You guys live an adventure every day. It's amazing. Stuart is like no one I've ever met--actually, I've never met anyone like either of you. You two really enjoy life and you live it to the fullest. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. The pictures are great. Muskwa is really guarding the place isn't he?(Good one Phred). :D It looks like he's in his element too :)

I'd be afraid to cross that bridge but it's good that they're trying not to disturb the environment too much. And that is an interesting office. I think it looks like fun, actually. I love that cute Muskwa sleeping. Looks like he's got it made. What a comfy pillow to rest his head.

Well, he was home for ten days to deal with Richard's death, help the family, attend the funeral, all that stuff. He went back to camp today, probably won't be back for a month. He was supposed to go yesterday, but after Beau died, he decided to stay home for another day. The Wandering Spirits Ranch hasn't been a very happy place lately.
The only good thing to come out of Richard's death is that Stuart shaved off that gawd-awful beard for the memorial.

He loves being out in the boonies. He'd live out there year round if he could or rather if I would! I prefer a few more creature comforts.
Not all boys though! Several of the geology students are cute young girls! The boss seems to be happy with his work and is talking about sending him to Arizona for the winter to work on a gold property he owns there.
I'll pass along another HI for you!

But short and trimm would look GOOD on the Cave Man ... any hope of him trying that look?

Get Stuart to post! I can't get him to read his emails more than once a month, even when he's home!
Muskwa left me some pictures of his life in camp. I need to resize them and will post them later.
