Cute tank..but good for the fish?

I've been planning for a long time on getting a new home for my Betta or Diamond Tetra. I think I found a good tank, but I'm unsure if it really is good for the fish. It's really cute but the fish is my main concern. What do you think? I am going to look it up now.

it´s not that big, but sure can hold a betta fine........ just keep up with the regular water change and should be no problem........IMO

I've seen that in the mall--it's so cute! I think a betta would be fine in one. I started to get one once but didn't....not because I didn't think it would be good for a betta or anything, I just didn't need another bowl then.. but yeah, I also think it would be neat for a betta :)

No tetras, they're schooling fish and they'd jump right out of that. Most tropicals need a top, filter, and a heater. If you ask me, that's a good decoration for stones and maybe a plant. You can't put a heater in it for fish who like warm water and its barely big enough for swimming room.

Do you only have one tetra?

They are schooling fish that should be in groups of five or more. Like the poster above said, they need more room then that, along with filter, etc.

Yes, we have one tetra, but we used to have around 3 others in the tank..Sadly, they all died except Diamond. She is now in a tank with a cover, and I thought about needing a top.

So then I guess it would be good for a betta fish? I don't really want it, but my mom does, so I just want to make sure.

How many agllons does it hold? You will need atleast 1 gallon yo house a betta happily. And you will need a lid bettas jump to. ;)

It looks a little small for a betta.It looks more like a cute decoration then a fish tank IMO.I wouldn't house my bettas in it.

Oh, that is adorable! Where did you find that?? It's hard to say how big it is from a picture, though.

I think it would be fine for a betta, actually, as long as your do frequent water changes.

I wouldn't put anythign in it until you found oyut how many gallons it holds.

It should be ok though I would use a cover. I have known people's bata's to jump out on accident!

Not true. My Betta's are in those kits you get from Wal-mart, and they are happy.

But, yes, Betta's DO jump, so you would need some kind of cover. It's hard to tell from that photo just how big that tank is though.

As a rule, 1 gallon per 1 inch of fish. So, Bettas should have atleast 1 gallon of water. And as others said, it will need a lid for a Betta as well.

If it doesn't come with a lid, I would buy a cheap plastic plate (check the dollar store) just a bit bigger than the bowl. Drill holes in it (for air) and lay it across the tank, bottom down.

It's cute, yes, but is it expensive? It looks like you'd just be forking out for the base than the actual tank bit. ;) But if it can house a betta happily, then I'm sure it would look very nice in any room of the house.

Wow that is lovely. I can't see any reason why it would be bad for a betta, it is actually somewhat perfect for a betta, but not a tetra, tetra's need lots of room cause they love to swim and are always hyper, plus they need oxygen going into the tank, whereas bettas go up and get their own oxygen.

that is such a cool tank. it should be fine for the betta. in the wild, the only live in small puddles, and i have seen betta tank way smaller than that. i never bought a really small one cause they would hardly be able to move.

I've never seen a puddle housing a wild betta, they have thousands of gallons, even in the dry season their homes are bigger than a puddle. They COULD survive in a puddle because they breath at the surface, however, they'd get picked off by a predator pretty quickly if they were stuck in a puddle that small.
