Anyone have an idea for a birthday cake for Tyler?? I like the idea of making my own and having them look like something else. I know that I can buy a shaped cake pan but I'd prefer something that I can cut and assemble from a plain old cake pan so that I don't have a specialty pan sitting aorund collecting dust. Tyler loves all things Sesame Street and all things boyish like cars/trucks/diggers/sports. Here are pictures of what I did last year:

Love the cake and cupcakes from his first birthday. :) Well the only thing I can think of is like for sports : A baseball/soccer ball/football, etc. Or a baseball mit, or bat. Probably things you have already thought of :o

The best one I ever saw was a train cake.

It was made with three retangular cakes, each with different coloured icing. Licorice whips were used to outline the corners, marshmallows for the smoke stack and wheels.

It looked great, and not too hard to make.
