Did anyone hear about this story?
A teacher was beaten by two students AFTER he conficated an ipod that a student was playing in his class. The teacher said that the music was so loud he was unable to concentrate on the lesson plan.
After class the student with the ipod attacked the teacher and broke his neck, another student who, 'wondered what it would be like to hit a teacher"
joined in the attack.
The teacher was put into a halo (not the video game...) to hold his head in place...he still has to wear a neck brace.
The attacking student was put into a jail until he turns 21, and the other was put into juvie...
I didn't pay atttention to the story but that is what I heard.
For some sick reason I can't help but think that the parents would try to sue the teacher for provoking the attack..

I saw it on tv last night. They beat him so badly he's in a "halo" traction to keep his head still. Three boys beat the living crap out of him. One kid is in juvenile detention, the other one is in lockdown and may be there till her turns 21. The third kid said he "joined in" because he wanted to see what it was like to kick a teacher.
The iPod owner had it so loud, the teacher said HE could hear the music and it was distracting him. iPods have no business in the classroom, PERIOD. Those kids are there to get an education. UGH!!!!
I could never be a teacher. I have a hard enough time dealing with screaming children in a store let alone an enclosed classroom.

My first thought was "at least he didn't get shot."
I guess thats how sick the world is, that my first thought was that it could have been worse.

That is just not enough...that little a-hole needs to rot a lot longer than that. Mike and I were talking and said he should sue the family for lost wages, medical costs, and pain and suffering. I wonder what they would have done to me...I took one away from a kid today...

Something that really ticks me off is when people my age seem to think the world owes them something, and that it's perfectly acceptable to do what they want to do when they want to do it, simply because they want to, and no-one else has a say.
What is so difficult about just being focused and sensible for about a third of the day, then relaxing and having fun in your spare time? By merging general life with studies, you become immune to the little pleasures in life outside the classroom. Whenever you ask such people what they did in their half-term holidays, the answer is always 'nowt' (nothing). Honestly, people who get on with their work may be the boring ones, but I'm quite happy to be so if it means I can go out and enjoy myself because I haven't left all my essays until the last minute.
As for attacking the teacher, we live in a sad, sad society if people will break necks over audio entertainment. I hope they bill him for the entire hospital fee of the teacher.

That's about the truth, sad to say. Where is all this violence coming from
in our society?

Gangsta Rap, WWE, parents who are afraid to paddle their kid and they run roughshod, just general total lack of discipline in society, kids being products of 2 generations of "let your kid do what they want"
But, that's just my opinionated self....

Wow, that is just sick. Over a stupid IPOD?? Maybe if he had just focused and waited till he was on the buse he could have listened to it. I am glad the creep is serving severe punishment.
Don't get me wrong, I hate school as much as the next kid but I DO try and focus on my studies and such as much as I can and I try my hardest. How can you get so mad over a friggin' Ipod??

Totally disgusting but totally believable the way some kids are raised today...or should I say not raised. Kids like that should be locked away for much longer for everyone's safety. I don't think therapy would even help sick kids like these. I also think the families should be sued, violence always starts in the home, lucky the kids didn't kill the teacher.

Sigh people need to grow up...Out in the real working world you aren't allowed to have jack squat for electronics (mostly due to safety). In my job, Im not allowed to fiddle with my cell phone unless Im on break or lunch, doesn't mean Im going to break my bosses neck for disciplining (sp?) me though! I'd hate to see how mad my boss would get if I had an Ipod or some such out on the road!
School is a good preperation for work, in that it teaches a person to DEAL with things for a cirtian time period and then they can have their own personal time. Whats going to happen when all these me me me brats actually have to get a job if they can't deal with school?
I shudder at the thought...

Stuff like that is what happens when parents let the 4 year old: hit them, tell parents NO, have their own way, and think it's CUTE when kids throw tantrums or use foul language. Isn't so CUTE when they're 15 and don't know how to respect authority is it?

And people wonder why I'm for capital punishment.
Those teens obviously have no sense of the value of life.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Why would any kid of any age think he/she can use an IPod in a school classroom? Aren't they there to get an education? This kind of thing disgusts me to no end. I wonder what the kid's parents have to say about this? Their little angels have decided to ruin their entire lives in a few minutes. How cute do they think they are now?
It is a miracle that he wasn't killed :( I agree with what someone else said.....where on earth is this violence coming from today? :(
If this out of control behavior continues in schools, teachers will become extinct. :(

Start with a little corporal punishment first.
A few cracks in the arse never hurt anyone....didn't hurt me.
