Just wondering how you all make your coffee at home. I use instant or make 'proper' coffee in a cafetiere (French press) but I'm thinking of buying a percolator.

I voted other because a couple of years ago my hubby bought me one of these (http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/prdKeurig50.aspx?DeptName=OurCoffees&Collection=SingleCup&SubDeptName=Single-Cup-Coffee-Makers&Name=Keurig-B60-Single-Cup-Brewer) for our anniversary. It is just as easy as instant, but tastes fresh brewed. I love my coffee!!! :D

I voted cafetiere. I also use a little espresso machine, just the type that you heat on the ring.

I use instant because all of the brewed coffee from percolators over here are disgusting not like star bucks - they leave a real bitter aftertaste and that does not sit well with me. It is a shame becuase I have a percolator and cannot get the States until late this year to get some starbucks coffee.
Any nice PT'ers will to take pity on me and send me some?????? I love their Java coffee.....

I've read percolators make the WORST coffe because it keeps recycling the coffee over and over again. Making a strong bitter, old coffee taste to every cup. All that said, I can't stand coffee so I don't make it. But I LOVE the smell of cooffee! :p

I chose cafeteria as well as I almost always get my cappuccino or espresso(don't drink american type coffee) in a caffe/bar. And they all use the large caffeteria with the press. The italians would argue the point of it being french though I can guarentee that. COFFEE IS ITALIAN !!! LOL at least for them. When I do make it at home I use a small espresso machine.

I make folgers instant at home since I am the only coffee drinker. I use a fileter coffee machine at work and I treat myself to starbucks at least a few times a week. I am a coffee fiend.

I've always loved that idea that coffee is Italian. I've never seen a coffee tree there! :D

Instant French Vanilla Cappuccino - Drinking regular coffee (cream) tastes nasty to me after all these years of quitting smoking. Only time regular coffee tastes good if it's made a coffee shop.

I love my percolator. Nothing fancy. No filters to buy. No timer to set. Plug it in and off you go.
I may be the last person on the planet to say this -- I've never been to Starbucks. Can you imagine? Somehow the world keeps turning....

Ah, let me count the ways....usually just a drip during the week- as the press takes too much time.
Perhaps my fave way is turkish, in the little funny carafe on an open flame, bring it to a boil, let it sit back down, boil again, and pour into a tiny cup and sip...a teeny bit of real creme is perfection.
Then, on the weekends, Jones and I walk to Starbucks and I have a coffee there....
JMM- if you are serious, I would be happy to send you some SB coffee!

I use instant in the house, but I rarely drink it.
I have my daily coffee in the morning before I got to work from a cafe.
When I was in Holland, my ex's sister had a Senseo coffee maker, and I had to say, I really liked it, and so neat and easy to clean.

I rarely make coffee for myself at home- usually if I want a cup, I go to Starbucks or Panera...but my husband uses one of these:

With a filter in it to make individual cups. Pretty easy and turns out fairly well.

I only drink coffee at work and our admin makes it :D
I voted filter machine though because that's what we have in the office...actually we have a few of them for a handful of people.

I love coffee (and tea) gadgets! I have a grind-and-brew drip machine, where you put in whole-bean coffee and the coffeemaker grinds the beans and then brews the coffee. I also use a press, especially for New Orleans-style coffee with chicory. And I use this contraption--the Toddy Coffee Maker (http://www.toddycafe.com/index.php)--to make a coffee concentrate that I mix with milk and ice for truly yummy iced coffee in the summer.

I don't drink coffee, which my dad thinks is a sin! Ha Ha! But I do get up and make coffee for my husband on the weekends and we have a filtered coffee maker. We grind the beans and brew it. I LOVE the smell, just hate the taste.

Mostly we just have instant, but sometimes we visit a proper old-fashioned coffee shop, which is highly expensive but well worth every penny, to choose and ground our own coffee beans. That stuff goes in the percolator. ;)

I agree, when I was in Turkey I couldn't get enough of the stuff. Then, the following year, I went to Greece, and discovered their version is even better, and drank tons more of that! Now I suppose I'm eagerly awaiting the prospect of Cypriat coffee this summer to see if it can top that. :p

I don't think I could live without my everyday coffee!
I use instant. It tastes ok and it it easy and quick to prepare, which is awesome in the morning cause I usually wake up pretty late. But of course, the cafeteria one always tastes soooo much better.
We have a drip machine which we load in the evening and it comes on by a timer in the morning. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of coffee! On the weekends, when there is more time, I sometimes grind the beans for a fresher cup. :) I drink 12 oz. every morning but that is it for the day. I just need it to get my motor running. :p

We drink coffee each morning and have used a drip coffee maker for years. Our newest pot is a Bunn that our kids found at a garage sale and it is terrific!! Before that it was always a percolator. I only like coffee within the first 30 minutes it is made - after that is tastes stale to me. Starbucks does not taste good to me but I know lots of folks love it. Is that coffee brew, drip - anyone know? When we had a Dunkin Donuts in town, I used to enjoy their coffee. We used to have a press - that we bought in France. I have never been able to make consistant coffee with it though.

I use a 10c filter machine (can't you tell? :D ) when I have leisure time in the morning. Otherwise I use the French Press. To avoid coffee bitterness, my dad (learned in the army) used to use a pinch of salt in with the grinds. I also clean the pot with vinegar once a week to remove stains and it makes a huge taste difference, My favorite though, is Dunkin Donuts. I find Starbucks too strong and have to tell the staff to fill the cup 3/4 so I can add extra cream. Love my java!

I use a drip coffee pot - I grind the coffee beans right before I make a pot of coffee. I like my cup of coffee with two sugars and some milk or coffemate.
