WOOOO again PT,

Me and Mom went walking today. She had the day off work. I love it when that happens cuz we always do something fun! Today I got to go off-leash again and even better, Mom brought two buddies along for me!

Pacer got his cone head off today so he got to come! Earle is kinda sad cuz our daddy left yesterday and he took Earle's daddy-dog(Muskwa) with him! So Earle got to come too. Here we are racing around in the back part of our yard!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/Dogs%202007/wayahead.jpg
We got way ahead of Mom in the greenbelt. Humans walk slow! But look, we are heading the right way, back to the human. Probably because she has Yummy Chummies, but she doens't care why we come back as long as we do!

There's still some pretty deep snow around!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/Dogs%202007/earleroll.jpg
Earle kept taking snow baths! I guess he's too hot cuz he still has all his winter coat on!

We went to that lake place again. It's mostly still frozen, but we found a bit of open water and went swimming!

Doesn't Pacer look happy about being wet!? Mom says to ignore the ouchie on his eye. It's almost all healed, but he still has no fur there so he looks funny!

More coming

I love Pacer, not as much as Anvik, but he's a pretty nice dog. He lets me herd him!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/Dogs%202007/herding.jpg
Herding huskies is a lot of fun!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/Dogs%202007/early.jpg
Earle likes wandering off the trail, but he's kinda slow so I can't herd him very good. I am very speedy and I like to fast, fast, fast!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/Glacier1998/Dogs%202007/hiearle.jpg
Everyone had to check Earle out when we got home. Me and Pacer had to go into our usual pen cuz Mom was getting Goldie out for a walk too. Goldie wouldn't like me so I had to stay out of her way!

That's all my fun for today!
WOooooo

Well, Tehya, that looks like one fun day! You live in such a great place, lots to do, and allll those huskies to herd! Pacer looks jubilent running around with you, he must be so happy to be cone-free again! And I can't think of anyone who could cheer Earle up better than you, sweetie ('cept his humans, of course), you seem like such fun! Thanks for sharing your day with us. :)

Woooo, you're welcome! I am fun. Mom says I'm entertaining when I'm not driving her crazy! She also says I should clarify that our daddy and Muskwa are coming home again. They just went away to work for awhile. Muskwa went to keep Dad company and because he drives Mom nutty when Dad is away. He doesn't listen to Mom at all!

You must have been reading my mind, I was just going to edit my post & ask if Muskwa was gone for the big trip with Stuart!

You're a Cute lil GOOF-ball, Tehya! :D

Did Dad and Muskwa get to The Mine in good shape?

Hope ALL you guys sorta "straighten up & fly right" while Dad's gone and
Mom has to run the Husky Ranch by herself ...
This would be a great time to show off as "GOOD Dawgs".

What great fun you all had!! Tehya, you're such a fun loving girl!! Mom has a busy job doesn't she? Try to help her as much as you can. With all those doggies, she might need some help. :)

I can't believe you still have that much snow on the ground!!
It feels like 100 degrees here

We assume so. No news is good news at this point. There's no cell service out there and there is some problem with the satelitte phone. Globalstar apparently doesn't get reception in that valley! I don't except to hear from him very often, if at all, unless something goes wrong.

That will work if someone is driving out of the camp to somewhere with mail service! It's way off the road, no mail delivery.

The lack of cell service isn't unusual up here. There are places in Downtown Whitehorse where my cell phone won't work! The sat phone is unusual. Those things are supposed to work anywhere. The mine owner is trying to resolve that issue! There is a radio phone out there for emergencies. You can't really talk on those things--first they are annoying and second everyone else who has a radio phone(and there are alot of them here) can hear every word you say!

Sounds like a place for a Monk to build a Monastery!

How long a drive is it for him to come home for a visit?

Doesn't quite sound like a place for YOU to "visit" ...
summa the "natives" might become restless.

Hey -
Have you considered a couple Flocks of Carrier Pigeons?
Yours fly to the mine; his fly home.
Write small.

Once they get to the road, it's about a four hour drive. Probably six hours in total. He's supposed to be home for five days out of every 30, but I"m not holding my breath. They are already a month behind schedule.

There's no way I could go visit--no one to take of the doggers! FIL would see that they got fed and the basics done in a dire emergency, but it's alot of work for him and he has his own dog who doesn't like my dogs to take care of!

Great pics and story as usual Tamara.
So that means if Stuart has my Muskwa, there are no pictures of him for awhile?

As for not listening to you while Stuart is gone, HA, doesn't he realise what side his bread is buttered on ???? :D

Take care out there Miner Stuart!!
You take care too, Tamara.

Tamara, I missed you getting a new husky!?!

She's a husky-border collie mix. About 7-8 months old I think. She's a handful, but she's sweet and highly entertaining!

They look great.

Am I right in thinking you were in an unfenced area? I was under the impression that Huskies were kept leashed in unfenced areas otherwise they'd be off.

Most huskies would disappear. Earle is the only one of my purebreds who is allowed off-leash. The others don't come back when called. Earle's recall is great for a Husky, but would probably freak most Golden Retriever owners out!

Some of my mixes are pretty good off-leash. More of them are not allowed to run loose, except at home! I don't except them to come back like a Retriever. I expect them to come when I call and stay in sight the rest of the time. (I have a friend with Goldens who won't walk with me anymore. She freaks out when her does get more than a couple hundred yards ahead of her). It's a calculated risk...I live in an area where there are few threats to them; no traffic, in the summer no wolves(off leash time is very rare in the winter due to the threat of wolf predation), we see very few people and other dogs when out hiking; no houses nearby. When we lived in a more populated area, the dogs never got off-leash.

Yeah, I know a couple with husky who always goes back when he's called too. I suppose there are a few exceptions. He also tends to stick with them rather than running off. He tends to follow the guy about and focus most of his attention on him. If they are standing talking to somebody, he just hangs about or might go and sniff in the grass but never runs off.

Oh, I wouldn't say my dogs are quite that good! They wander about and if I stop they keep going. The one that are allowed off-leash are the ones who come back when I yell their names or when I shake the Yummy Chummy bag. The treat bag trick seems to be pretty effective!

Ah yes, they are suckers for food, lol.

Mind, I'm used to Border collies although we used to have terrier mix's as well and they used to all be off into the scrub and trees after rabbits. On certain parts of the walk, we'd hardly see them except on the odd occasion when we'd see a tan coloured or black and white blur flit across a clear patch, haha but they'd always find us again once they'd done, lol. We'd hear them more often because when they got close to a rabbit, they'd start yelping with excitement as they chased it.... :D

Tehya, I ALWAYS love to read and see photos of your adventures. I enjoyed the photo of Earle taking a snow bath - I am glad he's feeling better! I hope the sore place above Pacer's eye heals up really fast. You and all the big doggers please take good care of your mum while your dad is away, please.
