My brother & I got some new bettas yesterday. I got 2 and he got 1. I named mine Barney & Andy ;)

Anyway, I wanted to know something about them. I got one regular betta, but the other 2 said CrownTail bettas on their bowls they were in. I wondered if any of you know how their tail looks the way it does? Does anyone know what I'm talking about because this was the first time I had seen crowntail bettas before.

I know they put the dye in the tetras and stuff, but do you think they somehow cut the bettas tail so it will be different or is there really such a thing as a crowntail betta??

Thanks,
Genny

Yep, there are indeed Crowntail Bettas. They're becoming more popular now because Crownies are so easy to produce and are more appealing than veils.

The 'regular' is called veil tails, and yes crowntails are real.

Take a look at www.ultimatebettas.com lots of fun there :)

Have fun with your bettas and becareful you may just be bitten with the betta bug. They are very addicting.

LOL, I know! Once we had 6 at one time several years back. They are fun fish! We haven't had anymore in years, but the other day I just saw them and thought I was going to get some--I love them. Andy is a dark blue with a little tinge of red on the ends of his tail and Barney is a red betta! My brother's betta (Rex) is white and light blue--he's real pretty too.

And thanks so much for the websites everyone...they were very helpful!
