My cat's about five years old. We've been trying to sell our house, and so we've kept our cats out in the garage for the past few weeks. This week we've noticed the cat has been having bleeding from his anus. Today the bleeding has worsened, it is continuous.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Could it be minor? I ask because we are financially incapable of seeking a out a vet. As far as my parents are concerned the only other option would be to put him down.

Blood coming out of anus is NOT A MINOR problem esp in males.
Females can be in heat and have blood coming out.

Since your cat is a male, he has probably gotten into something in the garage, toxic substance is first thing that comes to mind. Bleeding from the anus is NOT GOOD.

Eventually, there is going to be blood loss and death if you dont get the kitty to the vets. A vet might be willing to work with you on the cost.

Do get him to a vet as soon as possible. Most vets will work out a payment plan if you are currently in financial straits, this cannot wait. Get him to a vet now.

He likely ate something that hurt his digestion...

Please call around and see if a vet will work with you on payment arrangements.

If your parents are still just wanting to put him down, see if you can find a no-kill shelter and explain the situation. If there is anyone who can help, they will know about it!

Phone your vet and describe the symptoms, and see what they say.

I'm sorry - this is NOT minor - but it can be easily treated, usually, unless his intestine has been torn.

Also, if you go to Google and type in "Low cost vets in _____________" (put name of state in the blank), that would be a good place to start.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for your concern. I have located a low-cost shelter, and planning on taking him in the morning.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Please keep us updated. Will be saying prayers for you and your kitty.

Have you searched your garage to make sure there is nothing else out there to make the others sick?? Maybe you can confine them to another area that is safer?? Kitties can get into so many things in garages.

Joofar, will keep fingers crossed. How is your kitty tonight? I hope the bleeding has slowed down a bit.

I am glad the shelter was able to see you so soon.

Good luck and keep us posted! :)
