Dear Friends of Hearts United for Animals,
Two weeks ago Tom Bauerle, a radio personality in New York State
announced on his show that he was thinking about where to go on
vacation. He mentioned Lancaster County Pennsylvania as a possible
choice. Jim Weibel, an HUA supporter and adopter, immediately emailed
him and told him about all the puppymills in Lancaster County. Jim also
sent him an HUA puppymill brochure. Within days Tom Bauerle announced
on his show that he would definitely NOT visit Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania. He talked about puppymills and said he would not visit
any location where there was so much cruelty! Tom Bauerle is the dean
of talk radio in Western New York and for two consecutive years has
been named one of the top 100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in
America.
Jim Weibel exemplified what a difference each of us can make if we take
a stand and speak up. Consider for a moment how many people are
involved in the pet breeding industry (not counting quality breeders) -
if you count the breeders, the brokers, and the petstores that sell
puppies there are certainly significantly less than 500 thousand people
who support the industry. On the other hand, if you count the people
who love dogs, there are well over 40 million homes with dogs. If you
add people who love cats to that count, there are 73 million homes with
pets. And if there is an average of 3 people per household that's over
210 million people. In addition there are innumerable people who do not
have pets for a variety of reasons but who still find puppymills
deplorable. If people who love animals and believe that dogs should not
be imprisoned and bred to death, join together and raise their voices
together we can ROAR. We are the majority, we just have to find a
way to speak out together so that we are heard.
Today we are announcing Shake Rattle and ROAR! Every two weeks we will
send an email with information about something that has happened
regarding puppymills. The email will ask everyone who receives it to
send an email to a person either thanking them for what they have done,
or asking someone to do something or roaring at someone for something
they have either done or not done. Then we are also asking them to
forward it to their friends and egroups so that there is an enormous
response. The information will also be on the prisonersofgreed.org
webpage.
Through this process we can create a huge email chain that can respond
quickly to every situation regarding the mills whether it's new
legislation or closing a kennel. Together we can create a response that
is well tuned and immediate. We can show people that we are watching
them and that the citizens of the world do care enough to speak up for
the dogs who are suffering.
The first email recipient will be a person to thank. So often we are
quick to yell at people who do things we don't like, but we forget to
thank people who take a stand. Today we are asking you to email Mr. Tom
Bauerle and thank him for the comments he made regarding puppymills on
his radio show. Thank him for his compassion. Ask him to mention
puppymills again. His email address is [email protected]. THANK YOU!!
Please forward this email to every person or group that might be
interested in stopping the misery of puppymills.
