I'm posting this here since this is where I know everyone. I went to a Pulmonary Specialist today and wasn’t real thrilled when I left. She basically said she doesn’t think I’m dealing with pneumonia. There’s still an area on my lung that they want a clearer picture of what it is so I will be having a cat scan (no puns here). There were a few things she threw out the will be testing me for.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/valley-fever/DS00695

And of course ruling out anything cancerous. I’m sure all tests will come back just fine but it’s nerve wracking until you hear so.

Since I’m in the cat section I will also mention Avon is at the vet today. For many weeks now she keeps vomiting and we noticed she seems a bit thinner. I will post her results here when I hear from the vet.

Just wanted to update you all..thanks for listening.

The waiting time is always the toughest to cope with, I think. You know it's something, just not what.

Wishing you all the best for findings that are easiest to handle and heal.

I've been thinking about you and wondering when you would see the specialist. When is the cat scan? Soon I should think since you are being referred by a specialist. Many positive thoughts being sent your way that the scan shows what is really wrong with you and that it's something that can be dealt with quickly and completely. I hate it when my body gets sick, I feel so out of control of things. Please try to think of this as one more step towards getting well.

Is your husband managing to cope with all the park cats and your own? Do you have any volunteers? Did you ever see the cat with damaged front legs again?

The cat scan will take 7 - 10 days to schedule since they have to get the "stamp of approval" from my insurance company.

Kevin is doing a WONDERFUL job keeping up with the park cats and the ones at home. The hardest part is trying to keep the house somewhat clean!

We do have a couple of women that will feed the park cats when we go on vacation, but since Kevin's willing and able that's all we need at this point.

Sadly we haven't seen the poor little cat again. We both feel heartbroken that we haven't and really fear the worse for it.

Thanks and I sure hope they get to the bottom of this soon so I can start feeling better! My worst thing is the fatigue, it's unbelievable. I have no energy or incentive to do much of anything these days.

I've been thinking about how and hoping things were better.

My father-in-law went through that quite a while ago. Kept getting pneumonia. Always exhausted. He ended up having a pace maker installed and then felt much better.

Healing thoughts on the way for you.

Your hubby is a keeper!

Lisa, I haven't kept up with your condition and should have. :o I'm sorry. I felt that surely you were past your pneumonia and back to normal. I do hope that this specialist can get some answers for you and get you back into tip top shape. I will definitely remember you in my prayers.

Thanks everyone! The waiting is the worst part. Once I find out what, if anything, I have then should help me be able to deal with all this. You just don't realize how much work your lungs do until you don't have full capacity. When I did my breathing test they want you to get at least up to 80 and the highest I could go was 60. :( Hopefully they'll get me on the road to recovery soon. This has been so long now.

I haven't written much about it so there wasn't a lot to keep up with. I've been sick, extremely tired, and this has led me to somewhat of a depression. I haven't even been on here much due to all this. Thanks though and I appreciate it. Sometimes just venting helps.

Lisa, I know waiting is the worst part, and being so tired. :( I do hope you can get the CAT scan sooner, and the result will show nothing serious.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and send lots of positive vibes - for Avon too!

For now, get all the rest you can, and perhaps some vitamins. Stay positive! :)

What's the latest, have they scheduled your scans yet? I'm looking at the calendar - the 17th was a week ago yesterday. How are you feeling? I hope you're better and they can get you in soon. [hug]

Thanks everyone! They just called late this afternoon and I'm scheduled to go in Friday morning for the cat scan, and not until 05/15 for the ultra sound on my legs. Since they're suspecting a possibility of blood clots they are doing the ultra sound. That's the soonest they could get me in for that. I appreciate all your well wishes and I will update everyone when I hear something.

Avon's test came back just fine so they gave her a shot for inflammation and she hasn't thrown up in days. They may want to put her on a low dose of steroids just to ensure the inflammation does not flare back up.

Now lets hope my tests come back as well! Again THANK YOU!!

I'd go through the ER for the ultra sound on your legs. It they suspect blood clots in your legs that is nothing to fool with because those could travel up the body and kill you. I cant believe they are making you wait until 5/15 if they suspect clots.

My hubby's brother ended up with clots in his legs this winter, landed in hospital for several days. Came within hours of dieing if they hadnt treated him. That's why I get little excited when blood clot in legs is mentioned.

Will keep good thoughts and prayers.

Aargh, that's not good. Here is my suggestion, I'm an insurance nurse. Call your physician's office in the morning and tell them you are on Friday's schedule for the CT scan of your chest, but the hospital can't schedule you for the ultrasound of your legs until May 15. And can your doctor intervene to get the test on your legs done on Friday as well. Maybe, if your doctor makes some noise, the hospital will get you in for the ultrasound on your legs on Friday, since you'll be over there for the CT scan already. One thing I have learned in the insurance world is that if you want to be the wheel that gets the oil, you have to squeak.

Thanks so much for asking. I’m a little scared here. I went in Friday for the cat scan, and they had me scheduled for 5/15 for the ultra sound. I got a call yesterday morning, which I thought it would be middle to end of week before I heard, from the Dr. to schedule a consultation. Then they noticed my ultra sound appointment and said they would call me right back. 5 minutes later she said to be at the place today at 2:00 p.m. and then they want a consultation with me when they get these results. All the rushing here has me a bit concerned. I’m still in hopes it is nothing and they are being precautionary here. I will update you all as soon as I hear. Again thank you!

Lisa, I'm so sorry I have not responded to this thread until now. I don't get much PT time at work anymore and my spare time is taken up...well, never mind about that.

Waiting is the scary part but if they want to rush you in just go for it and get all the tests done with. At least you will know what the problem is, if there is a problem.

My cat scan has shown there is definitely something on my lung, but still don't know for sure what it is. I will be going for more testing for breathing, sleeping, and another cat scan in a couple months to see if there are any changes in the area. They said I do not have full capacity of my lung so an extensive breathing test in the hospital is ordered. So, looks like the wait is still on. :(

Gosh, Lisa, how scary!

I would hope that if they suspected the nasty C word that they would have you in in an instant! So maybe waiting is a good sign.

Lisa - I am sorry - but when you said they found something on your lung, I was thinking "HAIRBALL". Sorry, I just went warped!

Hope you could get a smile from that anyway.... :)

I'm thinking it must not appear, at this point, to be the big C. More tests and future cat scans will prove this. They pulled past years x-rays and the area was not there then. Good is it hasn't changed since March 1st, bad is it isn't any better either, so I don't know which is the better sign here. I'm sure they have to take all their steps due to insurance the way it is today. They said if I get worse or more symptoms to call right away.

I'm am feeling a little better with a little more energy so that could be a good sign!! This has been going on since February and it's all been pretty depressing.

Lisa - I am sure they want to measure just how much breathing capacity you have right now.

A friend of my best friend just had an awful scare. Went for the annual company checkup. Sent for x-rays. Spot on lung.

Went through an emergency MRI, CT Scan, biopsy on his lymph nodes.

Had surgery to remove the lobe of the lung with the lump in it.

Would you believe....it was CARTILAGE????

We're still shaking our heads over that one....and he is recovering very well!
