Crosspost from another forum

I have received this last night, I think she thinks I am in the US:

I work at a vet clinic in savannah. We had one of our customers pass away today. He had 2 labs that animal control now has. His only other relatives are in california. I am worried about them being in animal control and how long they will keep them. I wondered if you had any room availible for them or if you know of anyone who can help? Thank you- Adrianne . Telefon: (912-925-1355)

Her email is [email protected] .

Anyone on here who can help??

Do you know if the Florida Lab Rescue has been contacted? It covers the whole state of Florida and if I'm not mistaken Savannah isn't too far from the Jacksonville area (2-3 hours?).

I found the Labs listed on Pet Finder, they are here:
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8177524

They are at:

Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Animal Control
7215 Sallie Mood Drive
Savannah, GA 31406

(912) 351-6750

His sibling was not listed. I've e-mailed them to see if they are in any danger.

The Lab listed appears to be a bit overweight, so hopefully someone can help him!

Wow, you ladies work fast, thanks for your help and interest. :) I posted this as I was leaving work this afternoon and haven't had a chance to check any further. This was on a forum based mainly out of the United Kingdom. I was going to e-mail Adrianne, she may know what, if any, rescues were contacted. And you are right Kay contacting the shelter directly is a good idea. Thanks again.

The person I e-mailed was actually Lieutenant Brenda Boulware and she didn't know much about the dogs or the time they have in the shelter. I am going to contact some Lab Rescues as well as call the shelter on Monday.

The sibling is still at the shelter as well. It is a black lab and another dog as well (I am not sure of the breed)
It is my understanding that both labs are overweight however the black lab needs some "working with".
The dogs have been in our possession past the 10 day holding requirement as in this circumstance. However, because of your concern I have gone ahead and placed a hold on them in hopes you will contact the shelter Monday and make an effort to help us place them. Please call the shelter Monday and speak to Jodi or Lisa about them. Thank You Again for your concern and I hope you are successful in helping in this situation.

A great group to contact would be the GRRA (Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta). GRRA also accepts Labs and is based in Georgia.

There homepage says "Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta™ is an all volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of Golden and Labrador Retrievers who are abandoned, mistreated, neglected or left in shelters throughout the State of Georgia." So I bet they would love to help these labs out.

Here is there website:
http://www.grra.com/

They only accept pur-bred labs though, no mix breeds allowed so both will have to be pur-bred to get in there, looks to me like the one shown on Petfinder is.

Also, I know these two rescue groups personally and highly recomend them:
CARL - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/carl.html
Second Chance - http://secondchancedogs.org/contact/contact.htm

Thanks for the links. I contacted a Florida Lab Rescue and they said they were unable to help. I've e-mailed GRRA I will contact some others today.

Okay, GRRA is out of question - they said they have too many Labs at the moment.

They did send me a list of contacts to try.

I am probably going over to volunteer with the rescue Second Chance tomorrow and I will ask the director personally if she can help out, it might help since I will be face to face with her and it's harder to say no. LOL. If she can't help, rescue groups alternate coming to my PetSmart and I can continue to ask one of them until someone says yes.

Also, is there a way to keep track of how long these labs have? They have already been there for 15 days and I'm worried there time is running short.
