I got this from the VetPet Digest which I've found very trustworthy:

<< The chief financial officer of Menu Foods Income Fund says it's a "horrible
coincidence" that he sold nearly half his units in the troubled pet food maker
less than three weeks before a massive recall of tainted pet food. <snip>

It keeps telling me the page isn't found... is that link bad or is it my ISP?

All the dirt is coming out of the closets now...

I plan to watch this and see what happens, it better be equal to or better than the scandle over what Martha Stewart did. If he had sold that on January 1, no one would have thought a thing but just as all this was coming to light is a different story. You can bet they had a hint early into it and that is why he sold that stock. To me, it shows their stock is more important than our babies!

I searched with Menu Foods on their home page and found it.

Oh boy...I can hardly wait to see what hits the fan when it is discovered that people knew something before pets started dying....

I didn't feed this stuff to my boys, but I am starting to get furious. All those poor animals, and their heartbroken trusting owners!

And a little more:

From News Services and Staff Reports
Wednesday, April 11, 2007; Page D03

The chief financial officer of Menu Foods sold about half of his stake in the company three weeks before the widespread pet food recall, Canadian insider-trading reports showed.

Finance chief Mark Wiens called it a "horrible coincidence" in the Toronto Globe and Mail newspaper, adding that he did not hear of any problems with the company's products until at least a week later. Wiens sold 14,000 shares on Feb. 26 and 27 for about $90,000. The shares now are worth about $54,000.

what a foul person & company.menu foods did NOT disclose the tainted cat food to the people,etc.. until 1 month later.just think how many cats & dogs would be alive today had they done the right thing & notified everyone in feb instead of march.

Candace you know I am an honest soul......I told Penny tonight that her cats were the very first I ever put on RAW immediately..............Penny is an amazing mom, and brought me nearly 200 worth of GREAT food. All that went into the trash. I felt awful, but I was more afraid of ever having to call her over the food. Her 6 have learned to eat RAW and to honestly enjoy it (yes I made at least a months worths in my freezer for her). I am so saddened by everyones losses. No this isn't a pitch for RAW. Simply that I was blessed that it wouldn't touch me or mine.

I am honestly afraid to shop for dry or wet food for her cats or for the ferals I feed, as I haven't fed anything for so long. The damage that has been done and the damage still to come is horrifying,

Horrible coincidence? Come on!

So they had a clue that pets were getting sick in January, and they kept selling the stuff and he sold his stock on Feb. 26 & 27... This sickness was on the news BEFORE I got off the boat on the 28th because it had me worried to death with no one here to watch mine all day for signs of sickness. This is simply disgusting!

This just BURNS me UP! I think we need to make a list of ALL brands of foods they make and not spend another cent of our money on any of it! Boycott Menu Foods and put them out of business!

If that man is really so sorry, why don't he set up a fund with that money to pay the vet bills or give some to everyone who lost their pet? That would show he cares about our pets more than linning his own pockets..

I hope that the Pet Angel Army hunts this creep down and hurt him very badly , like a Cat with an insect.
He should do jail time, but his shysters will get him out.

The AVMA has posted a comprehensive list of pet food products which have
been recalled due to potentially contaminated wheat gluten.
