So, I use Firefox on my dinky computer. I just had to get a new keyboard because I accidentally fried mine with my wet hair. :o Anyways, today I went to open up Firefox and it'll load for a second and then it freezes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still doesn't work. I'm okay for now, I downloaded the Internet Explorer upgrade and it's almost exactly Firefox, but still I want to know what's wrong with my stupid Firefox. Is it the computer or Firefox itself?

Sounds like Firefox issue.

I'd get a clean copy ( another download) of a new Firefox and try it.
Run your scan disk, defrag, and spy bots for good measure.

I'd run a virus scan first of all, scan for viruses and spyware, both of which can affect a browser.

Did you mean Internet Explorere acts like firefox, or that it works and Firefox doesn't? Your post was kind of confusing.

IE works and Firefox doesn't sorry for the confusion. I just ran a virus test today and it said the computer was virus free.

Run AdAware or Spy Bot Search & Destroy for ad ware. Dump cookiies, history, temporary Internet files. Run disk cleanup and defrag - all after completely uninstalling Firefox. THEN do a clean reinstall of Firefox.

Can someone please provide the link for Adaware and Spybot? I had them on my laptop but it kind of skipped my mind to reinstall them on here.

Hey Bri --

Heres the link to the thread you started last time there was problems with your computer -- my post has all the information in it that you're looking for (links to adaware etc.)

Gee, I'm always the one having computer problems, aren't I? :p

I found the links and I ran AdAware, getting ready to run Spybot. AdAware found 40 critical things on it.

Since IE is doing so well I'm just going to keep it for now. I have another problem though. I installed the latest Direct X updates like this said to, and now it's still saying something's wrong. I want it fixed because I can't play the Sims2! :(

The graphics card in your comp probably isn't capable of running the latest DirectX.

I had a feeling it was something like that. Can you buy new graphics cards, and if so how much are they?

If you're talking about a laptop, the only way to upgrade the graphics normally is to replace the motherboard.

On a desktop PC, they are available for anywhere from $50(not bad) to $1000

It's a Desktop. But $50 is an awful lot just for a little Graphics card.

So I just looked, and they're REALLY expensive. The cheapest one was like $75.. x_x.

Right now, My graphics card is a 256MB SyncDRAM.. Is that bad?

Hubby told me when I asked about card, it's a good one but Sims game may require more memory.

So does that mean I need a 512MB card? I think my laptop I had before was 512 and the Sims played brilliantly on it. The 512MB's cost even more.. I guess it'll just have to wait till my birthday in 3 more months.
