Of the Zebra finch kind...
Here are my easter babies. I'm planning on handfeeding 1-2 of them to have another tame finch like Beeper. There is one more egg that should hatch soon

Adorable! But I have a question.. May be silly but I dont know anything about birds. What are the white lumps under their skin?

Those are seeds inside their crops. Their crop holds the food until it goes through the digestive tract.

So that is what they parents have been giving them? That is so cool. I used to have finches, but they always died within 6 months. I was little and my mom helped take care of them. We bought them from pet shops, so that might be why? Anyways, very adorable!

They're adorable!! So the parents didn't mind you taking them from their nest? I know my friend had VERY tame birds, but if she got too close to the nest, the birds would take the tops of their hands and nudge her hand away carefully to her. But after a week or two, the birds let her pet and hold the babies. One of the birds would always sit on her shoulder or are if she was holding the baby... What great parents!!! :D

Oh my, they look like the baby birds we see in the wild. Not at all like "hen chicks" or ducklings. Lots of development to happen, still. Thanks for posting this!
