The other day i saw the cutest MinPin pup!I had never really been big on the small doggies but i fell in love with the MinPin Puppy i saw!I would have taken that pup in a flash but 2 things stood in the way the price&CHewy(my Bc)being teritorial.....The price on the girls was 2 hundred and the price on the boys was 3 hundred.the one i wanted came right up to me when i walked up and began playing with me and running around....I wish i could have gotten her...the man said that the MinPins that he had where teritorial so it wouldnt work out with chewy.and the price blew my socks off!!2oo!!!
So i was wondering if anyone had a MinPin and had pics or a website,or if anyone had any info on MinPins.I am really becoming interseted in this breed.thanks

We almost got a min Pincher. We saw one at teh pet store and were like OMG we have to ahve it! But don't worry we wouldn't buy one from the pet store (our own descion nothign against pet store bought dogs, there wonderful compainions). So we went to the pound and looked at I swear over 100 dogs! Till they todl us they had puppies, so we got a puppy and Named Him Chewy (its the best name around ;) ). I love the breed also. I am a big fan. They are like one HUGE dog in one SMALL body

Chewy is a Australian Shepard mixed with a Westland high terrier and we are starting to think some Corgie. Well pretty much he is a Heinz 57. Chewy's not a "real" breed so he's not regesterd but his full name Is "Chewy don't Chew on that". Chewy Chews on EVERYTHING. He isn't big enough yet to chew through a leash or anything but he does chew on everythign else. He is strating to learn not to chew on hands. I love border collies. We almost got one we saw at the pound but you HAVE to have all your doors locked at all times to own her because she could open dorrs. Aperntly she was left alone to long and really wanted out, lol.PS: Here is a picture of Chewy. (I know sorry to bore you all again with his picture)

LOL. I think it would be so funnyto see a dog open a door. The dog we almost got answered the door, like if the door bell rang or in somone knocked cause he humans did. LOL. Now that would have been weird, a dog answering the door. Border collies are so smart! I am amaezed sometiems, the stuff they can do! I don't think I could ever own one. There to samrt for me, give it a couple of days and it would be smarter then me, lol. I am hopeing to get new pics of Chewy soon, He has some real cute markings on him. Tell your Little Chewy I said HI and give him a big kiss for me.

10-12 inches in height ,with 11 inches being best.... ears could be cropped or uncropped. Alert Watchdogs with an incordinately keen sense of hearing. Miniature Pinschers reconize the sound of their owners' vehicles and foot steps, but are quick bark a warning when strange car pull up to the house or unfamiliar foot steps draw near. My dog also loves other animals exept sometimes he can be aggressive to big dogs at times... you should start letting your minpin meet other animals when he is puppy. Socialization brings out the best in a Miniature Pinscher's personality. They should be socialized to new sounds, people, animals, surroundings, ect ., in a slow deliberate..
Miniature PInschers get along with other Miniatures best..
and sometimes Miniature Pinschers are called The King Of The toys because of their regal manners in both apearance and deportments.
they also love to sit on your lap and watch tv with you or when you read a book ..
I think Minpin is the most cleanest, neatest and most loving of all dogs.
My dog loves to go outside when it's warm outside..
my dog's ear is not cropped and one of his ear goes down and other ear goes up..
I think they are really easy to train..And yes they are active..They loved to play with their owners.. they love to go for long walks...

I have some questions about your MinPin:
Is your MinPin a runner?
Do you have anyother dogs?and if you do does your MinPin like them?
Does your MinPin like being outside?
Is you MinPin good in the house?
Does your MinPin get along with other people?
Im trying to get lots of info on MinPins to see if they are the right kind of dog for my family....
O ,and do they get along with younger kids??
I have 3 brothers 5yr old 9yr old and a 11 yr old
And the 9 yr old has a German Shepard puppy 7months
and my 5yr old brother shares a 5yr old sheltie with my mom
and the the 11 yr old has a great peransie Mix that is 2 or3yrs

If you have to many dogs already and are getting ride of one, I don't think you should bring another one in to you life at the moment. Sounds like you have your hands full with BC and don't need any more destractions. You should wait awhile untill you know for certain that you can keep it its WHOLE life. I'm not trying to be mean or anything. But it just seems you get a dog and then fnd you don't have time for it so you give him up. My personal suggestion would be to wait till you have the time it takes for another dog before you get another dog.

I knew i couldnt get one and i new i didnt need another dog and i wasnt going to get one its just kinda nice to think about having one even though i didnt need another doggie,i was just interested in the breed and wanted to know about it becuase i had never really herd much on the MinPin....the only reason we are getting rid of the Schnouzer is because he isnt happy and he needs a family that has no other dogs and he needs a family that has a fenced place.....we dont have a fenced place and we have other big dogs.....

Nah. I was just confused. The fact that you are giveing him up casue h isn't happy is really great of you. I don't know if I could give up my Chewy baby, even if he was unhappy. But I would if I needed to. i thought you ment you wanted one. The way I took it was you were giveing up Chester so that you could get a diffrent dog. My mistake

This some information about Min Pin from the Encyclopedia of dog breeds By D. Caroline Coile, PH. D.
History
The miniature pinscher is not a miniature version of the Doberman Pincher. In fact, the Min Pin is the older of the two breeds. Clues about the Miniature Pincher’s origin are scarce, but it is not noteworthy that a cat-sized red dog resembling a Min Pin is depicted in a seventeenth century painting. By the nineteenth century, several painting included dog’s distinct Min Pin type. These dogs probably resulted from crossbreeding a small shorthaired terrier (German Pincher) with a dachshund and Italian Greyhound. Many of the traits from these breed can be seen in today’s Min Pincher: The strong body structure, feistiness, and black and tan coloration of the German Pinscher: the fearlessness and red coloration of the dachshund: and the elegance, playfulness, and lithe movement of the Italian Greyhound. Yet the min Pin is more than the sum of its parts: it is perhaps the world’s most energetic breed! These little German spitfires were developed into a distinct breed, the “reh pinsher” in the early 1800’s, so named because of there resemblance to the small red German roe (reh) deer. Pinscher simply means terrier. The emphasis in the late 1800’s was on breeding the tinniest specimens, resulting in crippled ugly dogs. Fortunately, the tern was reversed, and by 1900, the emphasis had returned to elegance and soundness. The breed quickly became one of the most competitive and popular show dogs in the pre-world war one Germany
Temperment
Among most energetic of all breeds, the Min Pin is a perpetual motion machine. It is bus, inquisitive, playful, bold, and brash. It retains terrier-like traits and tends to be stubborn and independent. It can be scrappy with other dogs and may chase small animals. It is reserved with strangers.
Upkeep
The min pin needs a lot of activity. Because of its small size, its exercise needs can be met indoors or out: regardless, it needs several play sessions every day. It enjoys a romp outdoors in a safe area, but it hates the cold. This I not a breed to live outdoors. Its coat is virtually carefree, requiring only occasional brushing to remove dead hair.
Form and Function
The square-proportioned Min Pin has a compact, sturdy body with moderate tuck up and sort coupling. Its hallmark traits are its spirited animation, complete self-possession, and high stepping hackney gait. It is up standing and alert. The coat is smooth hard and short. It is among the most athletic of toy breeds,

This information is a basic out line of the breeds. If you puppy grows up with alot of pets and has been around small animals then they will like them. Its kinda liek fi you beat your dog hwen he is young he is going to be mean but if you treat him nice then he iwll grow up to b a sweet heart, its all in how you raise them.

Thanks for the info,MinPins r good watch dogs????I wouldnt think a small dog like a MinPin would be a good watch dog but from the info Aspen&Misty gave me(if i am reading it right )it says Minpins are good watch dogs!!??lol i guess im used to my big dogs being watch dogs and so just dont see a small dog like a minpin being a watch dog:)...But then again my 5 yr old schnouzer
is a great watch dog ,he had to teach my brothers 7month old German Shepard how to defend his owner...lol now Sport goes for the feet when some one comes into the yard:rolleyes: :)
well i g2g ttul tt4n

THey are good watch dogs becausethey bark when people enter the house or when people knock on the door. There protecton ability is what tells you weither or not they will defend you, although I think aby dog would. GTG

My cuzin came over this week and he was out side with me and my brothers well he was over play hitting me wich was getting on my nerves so I kept telling him to stop, well after a while I noticed Chewy had came up and was walking around like she does when she is herding something,my cousin kept hitting me and finnaly after he wouldnt quit Chewy came up and began barking and barking at him and I could tell by the look on her face that she wanted him to stop so finnaly he did..
Well she did it again when my cuzin was hitting my chair and pushing it around and I kept telling him to stop and then I noticed that Chewy started growling,I told my cuzin that she wanted him to stop but he just said she was playing:rolleyes:
but I kept saying stopit, shes going to go after u if you dont stop, but still he wouldnt,so finnaly Chewy started growling and barking at him,but never bit him....
Well last night I had Chester beside the computer chair, well my cuzin was being rough with Chester and play hitting me,Telling him to stop he still didnt listen:rolleyes: ,finnaly Chester having enough started growling and barking at my cousin,I called him back, and he came back with a Im sorry look on his face,so i know he knew he wasnt sapoosed to go after my couzin but had enough....
The two are never mean I think they where just protecting me and Chester me and himself, and they have never bit anyone ,so I dont think it has anything to do with them being mean but my cousin being rough torwards them...
And I gave my cousin a warnning that Chester DOES NOT like men and young boys until he gets to know them and that if you are mean to me he will attack after you are being mean over and
over again wich is what my cousin was doing, but he isnt this huge dog that will tear you a part,he is a small Schnouzer that will barking and growl.neither one bit anyone but growled and barked.....
Even my cat casper was being mean back to my cousin, because my cousin was being mean to Casper,
I think this has nothing to do with the dogs being mean but my cousin being mean to them right??

Yes. Your dogs werejust trying to prtoect themselves and you. Sounds like both your dogs really love you. Teddy will atttack anyone who attacks one of our family members. He will run up and nip there heals and bark, he also jumps. He gives them a look like cut it out, I might only have 4 teeth but I can hurt you. Lol. MOst dogs will protect you. Like I was being "killed" by a ball this one time so Chewy attacked it and made it stop "hurting" me. It was funny he had this look like yea I killed that. LOL

I have a min pin for just 2 years now. Her name is zoey and she is a handfull. She will really hug my wife or myself in the mornings when she wakes up. She runs up lays on your chest and then puts a leg on each side of your neck. She is all about her though, she is very food protective along with toys. If you step on a toy and she is upstairs she will fly downstairs to get her toy back.
She has no fear of any animal even the ones that could hurt her. She plays with my sons pit bull and mex chi-wow wow. Hey I don't know how to spell it lol! We never let her run outside. She gets tunnel vision outside and you won't get her back. She can hear a mouse or bat outside. I have had a bat get in the house and three rooms away in the dark she could hear it.
The only really down side to these loveable dogs is they eat. I mean they will eat themselves sick. Mine just had pancriatietis, she got big as a football and then got sick. This was my fault giving her a treat all the time. She is only allowed 1/2 cup of food a day. When she is down to her healthy weight she then gets 3/4 cup of food a day. If you get one just remember this if nothing else. Hope you find one for yourself they are the best.
