Freecycle is GREAT for spring cleaning! Old furniture, outdated appliances, clothes you don't wear any more, even busted computer equipment - somebody always thinks they can at least salvage the parts. Excess produce (don't laugh until you've tried giving the kids a bit of backyard to grow squash!), laundry detergent that was on sale but turned out to make you itch, leftover lumber/tiles/shingles from some renovation project - SOMEBODY will want it.

Like my mom says "One person's trash is another person's treasure."

I "freecycle" and have had very good sucess giving and getting. I thought there was a clause that animals could not be posted? Not sure but I would have sworn...I never see any listed on my lists.

I have never herad of this in Catada , but I could donate old blankets and things to the Humane Society for the poor Cats and Dogs there.
That certainly beats throwing things into a landfill.
I cant tell you all the nice things that I have found on the side of the road.

Its up to the individual moderators what the rules are for their group. My group allows pets, but I emailed them once over something someone posted -- I beieve their kids would prefer a puppy to their cat so they were dumping the cat to get a puppy. I basically told the moderator that he needed to pull the advertisement and give the guy a good tongue lashing over his parenting skills and hte lessons he was teaching his children. The moderator did pull the posting and then added a "file" to the website talking about how you can offer animals but to watch out for people who want free kittens to feed their snakes and bait fighting dogs..... the number of free animals adverts have gone down dramatically since that file appeared on the website.

They allow them on our Freecycle, too, but they have put some pretty strong wording about it in their rules on our local Freecycle group. I guess finding a new home vs going to the pound is the one positive thing I can say about it, but I don't like it either.
