This is an e-mail I got from my former voice teacher, Janet.

========

My favorite Cat Shelter, The 9 Lives Foundation, is in difficulty, and I am hoping your hearts will go out to them and help them out.** Monica Thompson ( the patron Saint of Kitties) is the vet who has been running the shelter, and she has a no kill policy.* She goes all over the state rescuing cats from Shelters that would euthanize the kitties after a certain time, brings them to the Redwood City clinic, and then adopts them out for a ridiculously low fee-- Neutering and spaying free, etc.

**** But she has been working seven days a week for virtually no money, and she has become hugely in debt.* She needs to go to work for a regular vet with a regular salary to offer her, and she sadly, has to close her non profit veterinary clinic, and relocate the shelter to a less expensive (smaller) location.* Most of the cats must be adopted between now and the beginning of May, when the existing clinic closes its doors.*

**** She needs to adopt as many as possible of the wonderful kitties that reside there currently.* I can attest to their quality-- The two cats I adopted from the shelter, Buddy and Max, are the best kitties I have ever met.*

**** If you have ever considered adopting a cat, or know someone who would like to, now would be a great time!* If you can't adopt, please consider making a donation to the Shelter-- it is tax deductable.* Please help these wonderful animals-- I am sure you won't be able to resist, once you take a look at the website and see all the happy little faces waiting to be taken home and loved.* I would take them all, but I already have three...

Please look at the website, and pay a visit to Wookie, Snooky, Bubba, Buster, Wellington and all the other GREAT, beautiful, wonderful kitties at the shelter.* Here is the website.* Please save the kitties!* They need your support.* Please forward this to anyone you can think of who might want to help them find homes.

**** Janet

If I only had the room, money and time, I'd adopt Caruso in a hearbeat. He'd fit right in with my other FIV+ boys and be another big brother to the terrible twins.

What an awful shame that this dedicated vet could not drum up enough financial support to keep her enterprise going. Are her debts so huge that a fund drive won't work?
