What's a "Gathurin"?? ... What's this all about ??
http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
For the Newer Pet Talkers, and anyone else who hasn't seen the
sometimes "lengthy" posts devoted to Planning these Events,
and the always enjoyable "Reports" (complete with extensive
Photo Coverage) of the Events ~
Here's a capsule summary of What Goes On:
We "Gather" at the very nice Hancock County Park District "Dog Park" in the
north-western corner of OHIO.
Facilities include:
* A 2-acre fully fenced OFF-leash Dog Park - with picnic tables, running water,
a few shade trees, grass, a lil mud, a collection of toys & balls -
a fine place to let a Friendly Pooch *romp* with other dogs.
* And 100 feet away ~ An enclosed (on two sides) Covered Picnic Pavilion
with concrete floor, picnic tables to seat 90 or so, electrical outlets,
2 charcoal grills - and enough Food & Covered Dishes to feed a mid-sized army!
(We NEVER go away hungry!!)
We Reserve and Rent the Pavilion - so there's no risk of it being "occupied"
by anyone except our Pet Talk Gang.
* Within 500 feet - there are two CLEAN Rest Rooms ~ OK, they don't *flush* -
but they ARE "clean", have concrete floors, and locking doors!
* A large, paved parking lot is within sight of the Dog Park and Pavilion.
* Many wooded Trails through the beautiful Park are available, but most
Folks hang with the Gang in the Dog Park or at the Pavilion.
* Food is casual / picnic stuff - everyone brings a lil extra to share - and as
said before - ya won't be hungry when you leave!
We can't stress enough that EVERYone is More than Welcome!!
We were all "strangers" when we came to our "first one" - and most everyone
who has been to one keeps coming back!
About the only "REQUIREMENT" is that the DOGS have to be "Registered"
to enter the Dog Park area.
Not a "big deal" - but it's da LAW!
If anyone is coming that has dogs that aren't "Registered" with Hancock PARKS -
it costs $10 - for up to THREE Dogs - and is good for the entire year.
PM me at "Cinder & Smoke" and I'll fill you in on the Registration procedures -
allow about 10 days to send for and receive your Permit.
If you're still "not sure" -
take a look at some of out Past Gathurins in these threads >>>

As you can see - we've been "Doing these Gathurings" for several years -
and "The Gang" keeps getting bigger -
so <YOU> will Fit Right IN!!
Please meet us in Findlay on May 27th!!

How do we go about registering for the dog park?
Here are *links* to two Hancock Park District web pages;
(Links corrected on 4/06/2007)
The first link has a brief "Tail" about the Riverbend Recreation Area. >>>
http://www.hancockparks.com/riverbend.html (http://www.hancockparks.com/riverbend.html)
And here is the *link* to see and PRINT the
Dog Park Yearly Permit Application >>> (Link corrected 4/06/2007)
http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf (http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf)
NOTE: You Must Have "Adobe Acrobat Reader" installed on
your 'puter to Load & See this .pdf file...
If you don't have Adobe Reader -
I guess PM Me at "Cinder & Smoke" and we'll get you a form.
Note 2: The Application is TWO Pages long -
be SURE to Print Page 1 AND Page 2;
Page 2 is a WAIVER that Must Be Signed & Returned -
and is at the Very BOTTOM of page 2. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
What you need to SEND IN with the Application is >>
1) CHECK made out to Hancock Parks Foundation with
Memo to: Dog Park Permit
2) COPY (originals won't be returned) of the Dog's
. . Annual Vaccination Record (including distemper) from the VET...
. . (A Copy of the Office Visit Receipt is fine if the SHOTS
. . are noted & has Vet's Name on it).
. . DATE of Shots needs to be within ONE Year of now.
3) COPY of RABIES Vaccination Receipt ...
. . DATE within 1 or 3 years - depending on the vaccine used;
. . Most Rabies Receipts show an EXPIRATION date for the shot -
. . Rabies Vacc must be "current" (not expired).
. . (Fido should be *wearing* the Rabies "Tag".)
4) All Dogs must also be "Licensed" by the City, Town, County,
or State where you LIVE. Fido should be *wearing* his/her License Tag.
Send it all to:
Hancock Parks District
Attn: Dog Permit

Findlay, OH 45840
Cost of $10 / year registers 1, 2 or 3 Dogs.
(From December 1 to December 31 of the Following Year)
You'll receive a Plastic Laminated "Permit Card" in the Mail -
BRING IT WITH you on visits -
they WILL be Checking Permits this year!!
A note about the "DATES" shown on your Receipts ~
Parks is "happy" if the Dates on the Vet & Rabies Receipts are
"Current" within the LAST 12 Months of when you send them in...
In other words; if Fido had his "Shots" anytime AFTER March, 2006 ~
he's Good to Go!
And a 3 year Rabies shot is good if it was given AFTER March, 2005.
ANY Questions??

Oh GUDDIE, the *link* still works. :)
OK - Here's how to get your MapQuest "Directions" with Turn-by-Turn Instructions ...
Use the Click-Link (below) to get to the From and To page for MapQuest.
**WAIT** till the page fully loads - or you'll goof up the pre-filled data!!
When the page finishes loading - you'll have TWO big data blocks -
the one on the LEFT asking for your STARTING Location;
the one on the RIGHT >> Already FILLED IN < with the Dog Park Address.
If you have it - do NOT use Microsoft's "AutoFill" - it will put your home address
in BOTH blocks - erasing http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif the pre-filled Dog Park Address! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/mad.gif
JUST fill in your Home or "Starting" address in the LEFT (STARTING Location) Blocks.
Here's the *Link* to MapQuest >>>
MapQuest Directions To: Findlay, OH ~ DOG PARK (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?2a=16000 Township Road 208&2c=Findlay&2s=OH&2z=45840&2y=US&cid=lfddlink)
NOTE!! for ROBIN and anyone else driving North from the Columbus, Ohio, vicinity!!! >>>
The "old closed bridge detour" routing you up the WEST Side of the Reservoir
is no longer required ... the MapQuest directions are now correct just as
they print out from MapQuest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
IF you want to use a GPS or another Mapping Service - here's the Dog Park Address:
16000 Township Road 208 -OR-
Township Road 207 AND Township Road 208
Findlay, OH 45840
GPS Coordinates: (WGS 84)
N. 41* 01.941'
W 083* 33.691'
The Dog Park is INside the Hancock Park District's "Riverbend Recreation Area";
about a mile south of Ohio Route 568;
and just north of the North-East Corner of the big Findlay Reservoir.
The Reservoir is on most maps - and stands out because it is drawn as a
Big SQUARE Blue Lake;
south-east of downtown Findlay.
If ANYONE has trouble with the Route to the Dog Park - PM "Cinder & Smoke"
with your E-mail and Home/Starting Address.

Truth be told, I think they "fixed" that LAST year ...

I was wondering when a post would show up! There's a few changes at the dogpark this year:
1. It is no longer locked, but you are still required to have your permit on you.
2. The park rangers come by frequently and checks for passes.
3. Not having a pass can result in a citation for about $85, and they mean it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again! :D
(Kay, Phred has a great idea, about you doing the driving...maybe you could just take a wrong turn & end up in Findlay? ;) )
Good vibes going out for Paul's knee and Lobodeb's car.

So that just means that, by then, you'll NEED a day off! Perfect for a Pet Talk gathering, where there's plenty of food, someone else cooking (invariably), and conversation to be had! And heck, maybe you can pick up some PA folks on the way through? Or back? Depending on which end of the move you are at ...
Oh my gosh! I wanna go so bad! Unfortinatly me and the furbabies are going to miss this one...again! :( I have to be in Nashville that weekend. I WILL make it to one of these Findley meetings one day! Even if I have to ride Gracie the whole way!

I ran into a small problem. :( Hancock Park returned my app. & check
and sent a letter explaining they had to turn down my request because
Smokey did not have an uptodate shot for Distemper.I decided this year
not to go with the bundled booster shot group that I usually got and just
had them do the Rabies shot. The Park requires Rabies & Distemper shots.
If we go, I'll have to make another appt. to get Smokey a booster of his
Distemper shot.

quite a fuss about dogs not needing annual boosters at my vets several
weeks ago ,so I'll go back in & hope no one remembers my speech. :o
(My older Vet retired & a new doc has taked over the practice)
She's a good vet but insists on all shots every year.

Sorry bout dat!
I went back and *changed* Post #3 in this thread - both links were outdated.
The Park's Web Wizzard sure got busy the last couple weeks ...
the entire Park web site has been overhauled & revised!
Also, PLEASE make note of Pat's (cyber-sibe) advisory about the NEED for
a Dog Park Permit for your critters >>>
There's a few changes at the dogpark this year (2007):
1. You are still required to have your Dog Park Permit with you.
2. The Park Rangers & Sheriff Deputies come by frequently and check for passes.
3. Not having a pass can result in a citation for about $85, and they mean it.
The Park District no longer has full-time Rangers;
Law Enforcement and Park Rules & Regulations are now enforced by the
Hancock County Deputy Sheriffs ... who have been ordered to *enforce*
the Dog Park Permit Required rule!
As always; if you don't have or bring a Dog to the park - NO permit is required!

:(
Oh, Good GRIEF!!
Did they "announce" this lack of Pooh Baggies on the Bulletin Board ...
or did they just not fill the dispenser.
Or, worse yet, did they *remove* the dispenser?
Those were NOT the most expensive baggies to begin with ...
kinda wonder what they use the Dawg Park Donations FOR?
Might be tyme to write Mr. Timmy to ask "What's goin on?"
Wonder when they'll put a coin slot on the trash can?

:pI kind of remember there being a note about this on the 2007 dog park "renew now" letter. Makes me wonder what they're doing with the funds. I asked mr. Ranger, he said that what the parks dept. spent on bags last year exceeded the total dogpark fees....yeah. I suspect what they did is to count the doggie bags at ALL the parks in the county and lump them together into the Dogpark funds. That, I might believe. The waste receptacle is still there, no "insert quarter here" on that yet, Phred! ;)

And after ALL That *B-------* they've done over the years about folks
not "pickin up after Fido" ...
"Cheap" poop baggies cost about $0.03 EACH (that's 3 CENTS each).
Hard to believe more than 200 are used each week (on average) ...
200 bags/ week X 52 weeks = 10,400 Baggies per year X $0.03/bag = $ 312.00 per year, plus shipping.
$312.00 = 31.2 Memberships at $10.00 per ...
Heck, Pet Talker Memberships have half the baggie cost covered!
And has anyone from the District tried to hit up PetSmart, WalMart, Lowes,
Home Depot, etc - to sponsor the Poop Bags? ~~~ I suspect not.
Let's hope someone thinks this through and comes up with a workable solution.
/s/ Poopingly yours ... Phred

Our dog park doesn't provide anything, but, people just bring the plasic bags they get from the grocery store...why can't they just take donations for those! OY, stupid people. I hate government, at what ever level.

I stewed about this for a while, then wrote an E-mail to Mr. Timmy (Full-time Director
of Hancock Parks) asking if it was true, and suggesting alternatives
(Sponsorship by PetSmart / WalMart, etc).
Got a 9:00 AM call from Margie S. (Admin Assistant/Office Manager) asking WHERE I got my info?
I just said "from a Local who asked a Ranger How Come the Baggie Bin was empty?"
HER side of the Story ...
* Shouldn't have been 'empty" - YET.
* WILL be empty by fall - they spend WAY too much on Biodegradable MittMutts!
* "NEW POLICY" has been discussed for "over a year" ...
* Marlyn (Pearlman - VIP from the Dog Park Volunteers) knows ALL about it
* Marlyn thinks we shudda done it a long time ago
...
"IT" (New Policy) is to install "Baggie Recycling Stations" in place of the
"expensive, commercial MuttMitt dispensers" ... and let folks bring all their
unwanted Plastic Grocery and WalMart bags to donate & re-use as Poopy Bags.
I listened as she rushed through her "presentation" (she's ALWAYS in a rush to hang up) ...
and she questioned HOW I could POSSIBLY be complaining about such a noble solution
the the World's Poop & Excess Baggie problems.
She had a hard time gripping the fact that Mr. Ranger "forgot" to mention
ANYTHING about the replacement of the current bags! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif
She mentioned "they" have been "telling everyone who comes in to renew their Permits
ALL About the New Baggie Policy" ... OK ...
A "note" on the Bulletin Board might be a good idea, too. http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif
Sooooo ... just in case ...
Stuff a few of your Plastic Baggie Collection in da Bus and drag 'em along on
Findlay Visits ...
WHO Knows if/when the Pooh Bag Box will/won't have baggies!
Oh yeah ...
With "ALL the money" they're gonna "save" by using recycled baggies;
they can "make improvements to the Dog Park ... like the Inside Shelter
'some folks' have wanted."
Dunno if I can hold my breath that long.
Stay Tuned ... there will prolly be Changes & UppieDates.

Bravo for you, Phred. I just gave up & figured I'm just gonna have to watch my step a little closer at the park! Note that she said "Mutt Mitts"... Perhaps it escaped their attention that we DO NOT have Mutt Mitts inside the dogpark! Those expensive Mutt Mitts are installed only on the walking trails in all of the Park Dist. parks. Inside the dogpark, we have cheapie thin brown bags that often tear open & must be the lowest quality they could find! (hence my opinion that they are using dog-park funds for non-dogpark expenses)
Mr. Ranger did mention that he was going to look into getting some kind of plastic container/holder that we could put our "donated" plastic bags into. Maybe they forgot to tell him about that part of the new policy too.
So keep an eye on where your footsies are gonna land...cause it could get ugly! Hmm, maybe that's why they did give us a hose this year! Maybe they should leave us a scrub-brush, too. Think I'll write em a note... ;)

OH, I caught the MuttMitt reference as SOON as she said it!
I doubt she's EVER stepped foot inside the DP ...
she just repeats what Mr. Timmy tells her to say when I call!
I was going to Argue the MuttMitt point with her by asking if DP Funds paid for ALL
the poop baggies in the District; but thought better of it ... you can't "argue"
with someone who doesn't appreciate the facts.
Nice to know Madame Marlyn is still in charge of Public Opinions ...
does she ever come out to the DP?

:DLOL! Alright Phred, now you've done it.
THE BAGS ARE BACK!
:D Yup, it's true, new rolls of bags were at the dogpark tonight. Talkin with some of the other locals, I guess you weren't the only one they heard from! Lucky's dad called recently, and most of us also complained about several of the changes when we picked up our passes.
BTW, whose Marilyn? (Just kidding, but I only saw her there once -- two summers ago. )

My Guess is ...
The Ranger/Maintenance Gang got ahead of themselves and decided NOW was the time
to "end" the Free Baggie giveaway and let the bags run out ...
But since the "replacement / recycling Bag Box" wasn't ready for prime time ...
Da Boys were told to refill the "old" Bag Box and return things to normal.
Question is: "How long will it last??"
Any signs of the Push Mower seen yet?

I find all this so interesting after all the hassle I have had to put up with over the years. Interesting about the bags. They have been threatening large fines for a period of time now - but without bags or warning of no bags how do they expect you to pick it up - no I would rather not think about that. And if they are telling those who come in to pick up their passes, what are the doing with the ones who register by mail? Shouldn't they be warned also?(Phred or anyone else who registered by mail receive a warning?) Marilyn is a very self serving person who dogsits and wants to take her dogsitting dogs there as well as her own. She usually comes out in the morning (or used to). As for the Margie, I know she has never been near the dog park. She has told me (when the gate was kept locked) that people would come and drop their dogs over the fence to run in the park. Now if she had been out there she would have known you would have to throw your dog over the fence and it better now weigh much because it is not a low fence. I am not sure how she thought those people got their dogs back.....
Mr. Timmy is on countdown to retirement....although I think he is still a couple of years away, it is never too soon to start. And as for story changes - well how many times have we seen that happen.
We still haven't got our passes yet - will have to do that very soon. I will be interested in seeing if they give me any news of any changes.

Yes - I think they are hard on people with multiple dogs -
Course with Keegan's hips I don't visit it near as much as I used to - she's content to run around my yard or my parents yard - I don't have to wear her out as much as when she was a pup. But I wish they would put a sign that said if you want to play ball or whatever go to the open areas outside the dog park - that drives me NUTS when kids are running around playing ball etc - and then the dogs are getting excited and stealing balls - etc.
Course some people don't have enough common sense to fill a thimble so why am I surprised....

Well..... I thought I was sure I couldn't come to the park... but things may be changing!!
My plans (may have) fell through for Memorial Day weekend and Sierra and I may be able to come to the park after all.
But.. :( I need to get her into the vet to get her shots (I only vaccinate every 3 years) and I can't get in until 8:30am Tuesday morning (the 22nd).
I think there's about an ice cubes chance in h*ll that I'll be able to get a registration by next weekend.
Has anyone here had to ask (BEG) the park to put a rush on a doggie permit??

I have a question.......
I would looooove to someday be able to attend one of these meetings.... but I would have to fly to and not sure about the doggies tagging along.....(flight rules and all, I mean do I need anything special when flying other country, do they need quarantine?).......
well the main question is.....IF I flied my doggies with me (after clearing out all the requirements for it) I could send the application and money and all, but would I have to send them like 3 months ahead so they can get it on time?, will they ever ship me the permit? will they even give me one being from other country?..... what about if our "rabies" law is different..... I mean we have rabies campaing every year and my girls get their shot if not every year one yes one don´t..... the rest of the shots are just given as puppies (I don´t over vaccinate)......and what if I do my own shots...... for rabies only if you go to a vet office they MAY give you a license proving so, but if you got to free campaings they just give you a paper stating you did (and this is goverment given)...... and besides we even have different types of vaccines than the ones in the states.......different "cepas" (not sure translation of that  )
I´m not going this year but maybe I can plan for the next one with more time and knowledge

Interesting about the bags.
... without bags, or warning of no bags, how do they expect you to pick it up?
And if they are telling those who come in to pick up their passes,
what are the doing with the ones who register by mail?
Shouldn't they be warned also?
(Phred or anyone else who registered by mail ~~ did you receive a warning?)
I got to *thinkin* 'bout this, an *thunk* maybe I otta <open> the Permit Envelope. :p
<ripp>
Full-sized envelope was <STUFFED> **NOT** with valuable info ...
ONE lonesome Laminated Permit Card ... with not so much as a half-sheet of
recycled paper to keep it company! :(
So much for pre-warning the mail-order folk about the pending Baggie Policy Change.
Matter of Fact ... I sent an EXTRA $10.00 as a "Donation" for "Dog Park Improvements" ...
which was
* NOT acknowledged
* NOT receipted
* apparently NOT very much appreciated
Maybe I shudda marked it "for the Baggie Fund".
:p
Oh well ... maybe they're too busy to say "Thanks".
:(

Isabell, maybe if you sent your application through one of us - and we could arrange to meet you and the doggies at the park with your permit, if you and the doggies are able to make it. I am not sure what your faxing capabilities are, but I know by now that we wouldn't rely on the Mexican postal system, seeing how few cards that were mailed from the US got to you!

Well ... we'd all Love to see you in Ohio ...
BUTT I'd bet that would be one VERY Expensive plane ride from Mexico to Ohio!
And if you toss in a Doggie or two ... WOW! Big Bucks!
You'd spend a LOTTA Money for a 6 hour Picnic ... with no guarantee the sun would shine.
It might be more satisfying (and a darn lot CHEAPER) to round up some of the
SOUTHERN USA Pet Talkers and hold a Gathurin "down South".
Jump on the Internet and see how much the round-trip Airfare would be ...
you'd be flying into Toledo, or Columbus, Ohio as first choices;
and Cincinnati, or Cleveland, Ohio as second choices.
Everything else can be arranged with proper planning.

Hey FurKids ~
Got any Special Requests for Dawg Park Treets?
Or more to the Point - do you have any "Restrictions" -
or stuff you're NOT "supposed" to eat?? http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/eek.gif
We're pretty sure lil Chipper hazza "short list" of acceptable treets ...
AnyBody ELSE need a special diet or treet?
Bowser "was" supposed to be on a super-restricted diet - Nuffin but Hills "s/d" inna kan ...
but since he went onna Hunger Strike about a week ago ...
Dad gives him ANYthing he'll even take a couple bytes of!
Last Sona-Gram sed that pesky "bladder stone" was STILL in there ...
so the "stone disolvin" "Steak-inna-Kan" dint seem to be doin much disolvin! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/tongue.gif
An now Bowz doesn't think it tasts like "steak" anymore ...
he'll munch a few pieces iffin it's wrappen inna Salami Slice http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif ...
but "plain steak" wedges don't have much appeal.
So put Bowz down fur "Anything is Fine" ... he's back to bein Our kinda Dawg!

OK, the other night i was whining that we couldn't go to this... and boy did i see the wheels turning in S.O.'s head! Yay! We might get to come, but i doubt it. Still... it's changed from no to a possibility!!! :D (I still have to get over my cold though :( )
No, Koli doesn't get to come because she is a big bully and doesn't remember to keep her manners. She only lets bigger bullies tell her no.
So, are there any fees for the hyooomans? Is it too late. All I've seen is the dog registration info. I thought i asked about this before, but now i can't find it.
IF we do come I'd like to bring Wysong cat treats (http://www.wysong.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WOTTPWS&Product_Code=WDFT&Category_Code=TNTF&Product_Count=3) for the pooches. Is there anyone that would have a problem with these?
For the two leggers I'd like to bring pretzels that are made in Essexville. They are DELICIOUS!

Home made? I wish i could make them and have them be that tasty! http://www.americangourmetpretzel.com/ It is a tiny little town though that the factory is in. Most people don't even know that we have a snack company in the area since Made Rite moved out of Bay City.

Phred, and others,
I have been debating whether to bring Snoopy or not. He can't have any of the dog treats at all. He can only have things like carrots, green beans, bananas and such. The dog treats are a no-no because of his chronic pancreatitis. Any attack of this could be fatal for him. And to be honest, I can't afford another $800 vet stay. I hate to deny him because he loves all food so would it be better to leave him at home or bring him. I will probably leave the girls at home. Never know who Dazzi will decide to dislike.
Angie, if you let the park office know and me too, I could pick up your pass any day but Friday this week. I did that for Lobdob (Debbie) last year if you go ahead and fax the information.
Looking forward to Sunday and seeing everyone!

Poor Snoopy - but controlling who gets what treat can be pretty hard in the dog mob scene that happens when a treat containers gets opened - especially with the two spotty boys!
So looking forward to Sunday!

You read our minds. :D
Chipper can have treats that are organic or homemade.
We've had success with Solid Gold, Zuke's Mini Naturals, Old Mother Hubbard, My Doggy Bites, and Wellness brands. :)
Things that are no-no's are treats that are loaded with preservatives and/or fillers. Things like Beggin' Strips, ect. will make him one sick puppy.
We'll be bringing treats he can digest, so even if no one else has the above mentioned stuff, he won't go without. ;) :)

Awwww, Mom :(
We'll all really *miss* the Snoopster ... :(
It would be a shame to have him there and then refuse him what the other Pups get --
UN-limited munchies! :(
And one of his FurBuddies offering to "share a treet" with him is a real possibility.
Not worth the health risk for a romp with friends.
Maybe if we decide to "camp over" in the Rent-a-Pillow place on Sunday night,
we could have a more controlled mini-meet at the Park on Monday.

well I actualy thought about the big $$ if bringing the pups (not this time but another one) but as a hypothetical situation would it be possible? ..... the all pass thing I could do as Karen mentioned getting it through someone else.... but the shots and all would they be valid there? (seeing they are different as I mentioned)......I can get a vet to sign me a vaccine record, but what if I do them myself?...
I soooo need to check on plane fares to get an idea how much to save for the next one ;)
please big hugs to all the doggies and hoomans attending.....

I have been following this thread for some time now and have been wanting to go, but I have been having a really rough time and just couldn't bring myself to go. After an email from Phred and then a really super tough week and then a pm from Karen I had decided that I was going to come out of my shell today and was going to see if I could fax Tori's info today and see if it was possible for Diana to pick up our pass also. I can't go now. Brandon came by today and announced that he had bought tickets to the nascar race this weekend and that I was going with him. I couldn't tell him no. I know I will have a good time with him and Ashley but I can't express how disappointed I am that I'm not able to go to Findlay. I wanted so badly to see Pat, Jojoe, Star and Sherman before they leave and to see Karen and Paul again. I was really happy that I was going to get to see Angie and Sierra again and I was super excited at the thought of meeting Ashley and the Hoodlums. Of course I was also looking forward to seeing all of the regular Findlay PT Family and finding some comfort and relaxation.
It took me forever to step up and decide to go and now I am so so sorry that I can't make it. Please pass around hugs for me and make sure each four legger gets a pat and hug from me also.
Love, Robin

Anna, that would be cool! Let me know where you guys are sitting at. All I remember Brandon saying is J. That doesn't mean a whole lot though. I'll find out for sure tomorrow. A girl from work is going also and I had told her awhile ago that you were going to be there and to make sure she hollers out at ya. She said she would holler "Hello Anna" ;). Now maybe I can find ya and say HELLO in person :D

:( Maybe next year... the cold i had turned into something worse. Possibly P-monia. I've pretty much spent the past four days in bed. We even found someone to temp-foster Koli for a few days so i can get some rest.
At least S.O. is now open to gatherings. When i first joined PT he wasn't. A lot has changed over the years though. And he realizes he would at least have fun at a gathering of pet people with their pets. (I've talked him into going to some other gatherings with me... that were less than his cup of tea.)
So, even though i can't go to this years I'm still doing a happy dance. He up to PT gatherings now! ...and who knows... next year i may even have my own dog to bring with me. :D

Try reading them - it's a little *snapshot* of what goes on.
And *click* on the many *links* provided in those threads - the *links*

We were not the first to leave but I guess I am the first ready to post. The sun didn't really shine but it didn't rain either. So a good day for all weatherwise. We did get a few sprinkles but not much else. As we were getting ready to leave it came down a bit harder but not much. We haven't been home even an hour.
First I will answer Kay's question. Gabby and Carrie were there for a short time but got called home to a family gathering where her brother had just showed up. She has a new boyfriend and family members wanted to meet him. He is from Florida but I guess will be moving up here soon. I didn't get any pictures of them because I was in the shelter when they came and they took off before I got my camera ready.
When we arrived Phred and his two pups were there with a picture that Tonya had drawn of Bowser on one of the picnic tables. She had sent it to him for hsi birthday but now it has even more meaning to him if that is possible. Karen and Paul were already there. Later arrivals were Staci and Keegan, Pat, JoJoe, Sherman & Star, Andy, Kimmy, a friend of Andy's, Kia and Chipper, Ashley with Shadow and Jack rode with them, Amy, Ralph, with Cincy, Sadie, and Spot.Angie and Sierra got lost but made it before the hamburgers and hotdogs were ready.
There were some new people for the area that joined us but as usual I don't remember people's names but the dogs were Lucy (pug/chihahua mix), Brutus (a rat terrier), Rosie & ? (shnauzers), Demitri (rat terrier) and Zoe, a I am not sure of mix.
On with some pictures;

There were some new people for the area that joined us but as usual I don't remember people's names but the dogs were Lucy (pug/chihahua mix), Brutus (a rat terrier), Rosie & ? (shnauzers), Demitri (rat terrier) and Zoe, a I am not sure of mix.
Hahahahah - truly a PT quote if ever I read one!
Looks like you all had a wonderful time, thanks so much for posting pics so soon. Will wait patiently for the rest of the gang to catch up ..... :D

wooh looks like fun. Daisy, Roxy and i wish we could come, but we're enjoying our dogs & neighbors' in our own makeshift dog park. :D Let's all be festive and remember the men and women that died so that we might have these grand days and moments.
*thinking of all of you.*
Oh I am green with envy yet again this year of all of you who got to go!! It looks like you all had a wonderful time again. I see some new doggie faces and recognize so many of the *regulars* and their humans too. I am glad the weather cooperated. :) So far I have only looked at the pictures that are posted but plan to head off to the albums shortly.
I might be the last one to leave for the park b/c I'm only 30 min away.
Staci, I was wondering as I was viewing all of these pictures how far everyone is from Findlay. Would those of you who attended please post how far, either in minutes or miles, you had to come for this meeting? I have always wondered who drove the farthest. I imagine it would be our Mayor, Ms. Karen, but just wondered how far everyone else traveled.

I'm finally up and around. We got back to our place around 11 p.m. and after a few more minutes of gabbing we let Ashley go home. ;) :D
Andy and the pups are still crashed out. I'll get my photos posted soon. :)
Pam, we are 2 hours from Findlay.
It was great seeing everyone again! Ashley, feel free to carpool anytime. I'm glad Chipper stayed on his best behavior (for the most part - he just couldn't resist getting in a hump or two  :o ) and even Kia didn't start any tiffs this time. A first I think. :o :D
Ashley, I'm so glad you got a shot of them all in the car. Nice photos everyone! :D
Great food, great fun. Hope to see you all again soon! :D

well Pam if the Mayor's can do it - I think You can too! :) They drive 12 hours.
Where I grew up and where I live now is only about 30 min from Findlay - I worked in Findlay in college. And I regularly head over there to shop, eat, meet with friends, etc.
Its bigger than the town I live in so it has more options. But it doesn't compare in size of course to the HUGE cities like New Jersey or even Cincinatti or Cleveland here in OH.
we haven't heard from Angie have we? Hope she isn't driving around Norwalk again. ;) :( ;)

There is no age limit for coming to the dog park meetings. We have some very young kids come like 13 with parents or friends. I think Kay (Kfmar) was only 15 or 16 when she started to come. We mostly talk about dogs and pets so there is no reason you wouldn't fit in with the old foggies.
Phred, Staci, Carl and I had Day Two of the Memorial Dog Park meeting today. We gathered about noon with the leftovers and had another picnic but since both shelters near the dog park were taken we picniced across the way in the other half of the park. Then took our dogs over to left them run. Several locals showed up to - even Brutus and Lucy - so we had a great time again - only this time my whole gang got to come. Now I have 5 very tuckered dogs laying around the house. I will be posting some new pictures from DayTwo soon.

I didn't post when we got home last night, cause our computer is acting funny lately...it is a crap shoot if I'll be able to log in!! Which may mean a few days before I get pictures up!
We had a great time as usual, and although Sadie may have not been thrilled to have gained the affections of a younger man, she and Jack sure made a cute couple!! Ashley, Kimmy...how far are you guys from Saline Michigan? They have a nice park with a swimming hole we may be able to meet up at sometime.
Glad so many were able to make, although we missed those who couldn't. Although I bet Mark was glad to be there to see Kyle Petty get his 1st top five finish in 10 years!!!
Pam, to answer your question, we are about 1 hour from the Dog Park.

It was a fun day again. Tho it was quite a bit hotter today then yesterday.
Lots of locals stopped by.
My parents stopped on their way home from Grayling MI where they've been since Thursday so Keegan was very excited to see her Papa and Grandma. ;)
When we first got to the picnic area - all the dogs were tied in various places, I tried to follow suit and tie up Keegan to a stake I brought, but as per usual my SPOILED rotten big girl - uprooted the stake and threw a FIT until I unhooked her. I opened the cooler that had the ice and water in it - she plopped in front of it stuck her head in it and never gave me another problem!!!
;)
My pics from TAKE 2 @ the park are uploading now.
Keegan is sprawled in front of the AC vent in front of a fan. She's POOOOPED!

I haven't checked out anyone's photo albums yet (I have dial-up, so I have to wait until I get to work where we have something faster), but I love the pictures that have been posted. Is there a time out cage, or something like that there? (I was wondering what that cage is that Star and Sherman were laying next to in Diana's pictures.) There were so many great dogs that we don't get to see enough. Loved the picture of Sierra, she is sooo pretty. And Keegan, too, she is a very pretty girl. Aw, Cinder covering her face with her paw, how cute is that? Snoopy has one of the sweetest faces I have ever seen on a dal. And Ashley, I loved the picture of the four dogs in the back of the car, and the picture of my pretty smiling Shadow-girl. LOL at Star, standing on the table looking over Karen's shoulder at the treatsies; she wasn't going to get in the middle of the mob, she went over the top. :D Loved all of the pictures, I can't wait to check out the albums tomorrow.

We're HOME!
Actually, BEEN home since about 8:30 PM or so ...
Thanks to Staci for calling into da Bus and acting as "remote co-pilot" ...
Having to try to "talk" keeps the ole Droopy Eyeshades open!
The Furry Co-Pilots were their normal help - NOT - intermittant *snoring*
and restless flip-floppin was noted in the rear Pilot's Lounge.
When we stopped for an Outie on Route 30, SmokeMutt watered the first trash can
and promptly *flopped* down, curled up, and closed his eyes!
Cinder couldn't drag him off his spot!
I jumped right into "developing" our *snappies* ...
THANKS, ImageStation for WASTING my last two hours in non-uploading! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/mad.gif
I'll go back to emptying out da Bus and try the photos in the morning.
GREAT Photos posted on PT so far ... haven't tried checking the Albums yet.
And THANKS to ALL - *Especially* da Mayor and her Trusty Side-Kick Mr. Paul ---
for their Long-Distance commute to attend the Gathurin!
Mrs. Mayor brought some realy **YUMMIE** Human-Grade Beef Jerkey that
was a finger-nippin GOOD to all the FurKids!!
Not to mention her Human-Grade, Dog Approved, Animal Cookies - many
custom-cut to represent the attending FurKids.
Ask Chipper how HE liked em!! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/tongue.gif
This wasn't Ashley's only "appearance" with Jack (the Labby Boy) ...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid225/p2c227f3af0a7289d02799470a1b93f52/e94d6d91.jpg
She ran him through a series of David Letterman Show "stunts" over at the Pavilion ...
HOPE someone got some *snappies* of that routine!
And Special Thanks to God! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
After a week's worth of Gloom & Doom forecasts, the promised 60% Chance
of Thunderstorms
just never materialized! The dribbles & drops we did get hardly spotted the windshields of the cars.
Another GREAT Gathurin!!
NEXT Scheduled Gathurin = SUNDAY, September 2, 2007 - the Labor Day Weekend SUNDAY!
Ya'll BE THERE!
