Would anyone know why Fenway keeps licking & chewing his rear, right paw? He's been doing it for about 2 weeks now. Last night I looked at it and it's all red & raw and some of his hair is missing. I couldn't see any scratches or cuts or anything. Nor could I see any blood. What do you think is the matter with him? :(

It is bound to be allergies. Your vet might want to give him an injection to calm down the inflammation and get him on Benadryl to help him through allergy season.

Don't wait too long to take him in. You can ward off infection and pain by getting him treated now.

Hope he will be feeling better soon.

Thanks for the reply. Fenway is going to the Vet's tonight. I hope it's nothing serious.

It sounds like allergies to me. We used to give my RB Cocker and Sam benadryl for allergy season.

Hope everything is well at the vet's office!

Aw Fenway, what's with the tootsie? is it itchy? Mom is gonna find something to help you out with that, fella!

Hope it is something easy to give to him!

So Fenway has a cyst between his toes. Not sure how it got there but the vet showed it to me and there was puss coming out of it. So I have to soak his little paw for 5-10 minutes in some Betadine two times per day, dry it and put some kind of NeoPredef Powder on it. Then I have to give him Prednisoine to help with the itching and Cephalexin to help with the infection (it's an antibiotic). Then I have to bring him back to the Vet's in 2 weeks. Now the Vet mentioned it could be due to allergies but that's all he said. I'm sure when I see him again we can review that issue further.

The fun & exciting part is having to hold him down for 5-10 minutes in this solution (which, btw, stains rugs, floors, clothes, sheets, towels, etc.). I can't wait for that!! :D ;)
