This morning, he called my parents because he woke up with a really sharp pain in his chest and his left arm was hurting. They left work and went to pick him up from his house. They took him to the hospital, hoping it was nothing serious. By the time they go to the ER though, he was drenched with sweat, and was having shortness of breath. They did all sort of tests on him and found out he was having/ had a heart attack. His heart wasn't pumping correctly and wasn't giving enough blood to the rest of his body. He is only 22 years old. Now he has to be on medicine for the rest of his life. :( Luckily they got to it in time and he's fine now, but another scary thing is that the doctor said that this isn't his first heart attack. He's had others in the past but not as 'bad'.
This one was pretty minor, but it could've escalated into something really bad if it wasn't treated quickly enough. It was so scary when we first found out because we didn't know if he was going to be o.k or not. My brother told me after they were sure he was going to be o.k, so I'm thankful for that. But my mom called him when they just first found out that he was having a heart attack. She didn't know how bad it was or anything so she was super worried as was everyone else in my family. Please send prayers for our family. Thank you. :(

How scary, but good that it was caught in time. Will the rest of your family be screened for heart issues just in case?

My really close friend had a stroke a couple weeks ago, and he's only 17.

Prayers that he will be ok...a lot of apparently healthy people have heart attacks...light ones can be mistaken for indigestion.
If he has any diet or weight or smoking issues, I hope he cleans up. His heart can go back to a really healthy state in no time.
I'm not saying your brother IS...I just hope he gets better and will be ok for a long time!

OMG. Twenty-two? I'm so glad he had the smarts to call your parents and they in turn picked him up. So many people would have shrugged off the symptoms. I will say a prayer for him.

I was so sorry to hear this. Thank God, he and your parents took his symptoms seriously. A lot of people would not have because of his age. I will keep you and your family especially him in prayer.

Thank you for all your kind words. My mom said when he first called she didn't even think of a heart attack because he's healthy, not overweight and he doesn't smoke at all.
The doctor said that it could be some sort of virus that caused it, or genetics. He asked if my parents' family members had any sort of heart problems. My dad a few relatives that had heart problems, so the doctor think that MAY be it. They're still not completely sure. The had to do this thing where they would insert a tube from his leg all the way to his heart. Then they injected some sort of dye to help the heart. I'm not completely sure what it does though.
On a lighter note, he's been moved from the ICU to a normal room. He feels a lot better and likes to joke around with the nurses. They gave him some medicine, but it makes him fart a lot. :o So my mom had to take a bottle of Febreeze in there because it smells so bad!

Oh God, that's so scary. I knew the age of people having heart attacks was getting lower, but 22 is way to young. It is great that he went to hospital in time.

Oh my.... I am so glad that he is feeling better, and that he knew to call someone to get to the hospital right away! Heart attacks can be so scary, and especially for someone only 22 years of age.
Since the docs seem to be leaning toward this being hereditary, is there some tests or meds that YOU should be taking?
My family has a history of cancer and heart conditions on both sides, so we are "doublewhammied". I beleive that one cannot live in fear, but one can do some things to prevent the conditions. Please stay healthy. Prayers for you, your family, and your brother that everyone stays healthy.
