Since we've had the kitten, Lilly, she hasn't been able to keep anything down, and her gums are pale. We've wormed her...bloodwork...blood tested for FIV and leukemia...everything looks fine. I think I've had her for 3 weeks now? I haven't said anything yet hoping she will get better. She will keep down a very small amount of boiled chicken, but it's not enough to keep her systems up and running for very long. If you try to feed her many small meals she will eventually vomit pretty much all of it up. She will not keep down cat food. The vet isn't sure whats going on either, he was thinking a sensitive stomach, or maybe she is FIV positive and it isn't showing up positive.

She is just wasting away. She's so skinny right now...I really don't know what's going on. We may have to make a difficult decision soon. This is not "my" cat...mom wanted to get her, said she would get her spayed and everything but now that she is 'sick' she dosen't want anything to do with it...I cannot afford to keep running tests, I'm financially strapped right now with other vet bills. The other kitten is doing fine. Mom won't pay for it, she wants to give her back! I don't know, any ideas?

All I can suggest is a second opinion...is there a vet school near you anywhere(or maybe not too far?)

All I can think of is the raw diet I have heard of...try a few tiny pieces of raw beef (like stewing beef, even).

You are doing everything you can. I kind of wonder about internal bleeding or blockage. With all the other tests - have x-rays been done?

HUGS! I hope someone here can relate to what is happening.

Many PT prayers going out to Lilly!

Oh, poor Lily! I would say a second opinion. Let us know!

Can you contact any spca org for help with costs?

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice. But I will send prayers for you and Lilly. They've been known to work miracles here.

I'm so sorry about Lilly. I hope she feels better. Maybe you can go to a different vet or something? How old is Lilly anyway???
Lilly will be in my thoughts an prayers.

Try room temperature Gerber's baby food (turkey or chicken, no beef) in small amounts and cooked elbow macaroni. It's what my old vet prescribed for Puddy when I first got her because she had a sensitive tummy and it worked. She chewed on that macaroni and licked up the baby food. I kept her on it for a couple of months actually. If you try it, please let us know how she does.

Blessings,
Mary

Gerber baby food is a wonderful food choice for kittens. I used it when fostering the five 3 week old babies I had and they will grow very well with it. I actually used it along with KMR and they thrived. I would suggest giving it a try.

I PM'd her last night, and she said that the one test Lilly had NOT had was x-rays, and she will ask about them.

If Lilly has a blockage or a twisted intestine, that might be causing problems.

The baby food sounds great...Lilly has kept SOME bits of things down, so maybe this will help!

Prayers for little Lilly!

I'm so sorry to hear this.:( I sure hope that the vet will be able to find out what's causing her problems. Like the others have mentioned, you may want to get a second opinion. She'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, poor Lily. I sure hope you get to the bottom of this. You should try the baby food idea or the raw diet even, it is worth a shot. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks for the replys.

She actually got into the cat food...and kept what she ate down. She does, however, have an appointment for Monday with my regular vet (I took her to the "cat" vet..dont like him too much i don't think) so he can tell me what he thinks. If she vomits any more I will get some baby food...good idea!

Okay we are back from my vets-he can't find anything apparantly wrong with her either. He put us on....Ranitidine, to calm the stomach down. He re-tested for leukemia and aids, and it came up negative again. Also changed the food to a low-residue gastro food. The other vet didn't suggest any of this  . So, if in a week she is still vomiting, we will go ahead and do x-rays and such. So...wish us luck that this does the trick.

The pale gums is an indication of anemia. The lethargy and weight loss are not a good sign, especially in a kitten that young. Glad she's got another vet appt. It IS possible for a false reading. This poor baby needs help.

Please keep us updated. Kitty is in my prayers.
