Lilly is going to the bridge

It is with a breaking heart I post this latest update from Betty....

I went to walk Aspen and Quinn. There was a message on the phone from Logan. They're going to have to let Lilly go.

Godspeed, our dear, dear sweet Lilly. I guess God wanted your beauty up there with him. Go find Murphy and Zipper and of course your buddy George. Then, send back down to earth some healing for your entire family here. They've been through so much, and they're going to need some healing time.

I can't believe we're talking about Lilly.

Please keep dear Logan and her family in your prayers. They have been through so much in the past couple years with Murphy, Zipper and now Lilly. They need us now more than ever. I'm sure Logan will post a memorial when she is ready.

Oh this is what we all feared but didn't want to give up hope. I love that song from Garth Brooks and will never hear it again without thinking of Lilly girl. It is so fitting. Logan also lost her dear Mimi, her *Kittie of a Lifetime* recently. It has been an extremely difficult time for our friend. Logan we grieve with you. :( :(

Lilly girl, your aunties will miss you so much. You know your mommy loved you to pieces and fought ever so hard to save you and make you better. There was no stone unturned. Obviously Zipper and Murphy needed you to watch over them, and Mimi too. You've always been the good dog. The one mom could depend upon. She has a broken heart right now. We'll try to help with that, but maybe one day you can send her a message that it will be okay. You could drop by here too, okay?

Her journey, though heartbreaking, will begin the same way.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life

Liz what a beautiful prayer! Thank you for posting that. I know Logan will cherish it. I have searched through some of the pictures that I have saved on my computer of some special dogs here at PT. Of course Lilly is one whose picture has been saved. I know I have more but I can't seem to locate them easily.
