I've been wanting one of these for a long time. It's a Petmate purifying pet fountain. I like this style because it doesn't splash and it's very quiet. It cost $35. They had a cheaper model but it splashed down, no ramp for the water like this one.

Dusty is afraid of it so far, Bear is cautious but will use it, Cami finds it facinating to watch, Pooky hasn't quite made up his mind, Jack & the kittens think it's great! I wouldn't say I have nosey cats or anything but......

Pooky poking the water while Sabrina checks it out.

Bear carefully investigating while Pooky & Sabrina stay nearby in case Bear needs a water rescue! lol

Aw, such great photos! Sure shows the inquisitive nature of cats; something new comes in the house and EVERYONE has to investigate it, ha ha.

Does it have a filter that needs changing? I've been looking at fountains also, I like that style for the ramp, as you said.

That's going to be my next purchase for the Fur Posse. They have a fountain right now but it has been discontinued, so I can no longer get filters for it. Of course, it's lasting forever so I can't justify getting a new one til the old one dies. But fountains are great and they keep the posse out of the sink.

Mary

Thats well worth the price for fresh cold water for the Cats.
They will appreciate that for many years to come.

Yes it takes what looks like a charcoal filled cartridge with some kinda white filter wrap around it, kinda looks like what I used to use in my fish tank filter. It came with 2, so I have one extra, but I went ahead and bought 2 more filters when we got it because I hate not being able to find filters for things after I buy them.

Apparently most cats are afraid of these pet fountains because the instructions that came with it said to just sit it next to their water bowl UNplugged for a whole week so they could get used to it before actually plugging it in to run. Heck most of the cats were "helping" while we were setting it up! LOL Guess they didn't read that part of the manual. We're leaving the normal bowl down for now until Dusty makes her peace with it, so right now the cats are alternating between the pet fountain and the normal water bowl. We have another water bowl upstairs for Dusty also, but we aren't planning on removing that one, that way Dusty can get a drink without having to walk down all those stairs, then back up again to go back to sleep.

That's funny because even though they have water available to them during the night, they run to the fountain and wait for me to turn it on first thing in the morning. They were never afraid of it.

Hmmm, we left it run last night because it doesn't have any moving parts where the cats can get to them, and Bear (see pix) has a tendancy of laying over a water bowl and dangling his feet in which makes the water ikky. Should we not leave it run all the time?

I have that Same Fountain!!! It is so cool!!! All the kids love it. Some will drink from the pool at the bottom, but Chaz (resident Meezer) HAS to drink from the very top where the water comes out!! He is so silly!!

Great pictures and captions.:) I used to have a drinkwell fountain that had a resevoir in the back of it so I didn't have to refill it daily. It lasted about a year until Sunny decided that playing in it was better than drinking out of it. He kept making major messes so I had to stop using it. Even today he'll play in the water bowls so I have to keep them inside of clean litterboxes. I guess it's the Aby in him that makes him to do it.
