my carolina dog post?

if you read it i'm really interested in feed back (posted over on it.) or at least let me know if you read it. i'm curious as to how many people are interested in learning about rare breeds.
i have my favorites, but i always love learning about those i never heard of. for example, i recently learned about the black mout cur. to me it sounds like the PERFECT family dog. maybe even more so then the german shepherd dog. which i never thought would be possible. i'd have to meet one first though. (mean looking dog too.)

I read it and found it interesting.
I recently found out about the black mouth cur also, and found it interesting also.
I think there is a back issue of Dog Fancy that has info on the Carolina Dog in it.

I've wanted a black mouth cur for a loooong time. I'm in love with the breed. A girl on one of my mailing lists has one. Here's a pic of Chasey:

Staci - There's a greyhound in my Thursday night obedience class. She's so funny. All she does is lay there not moving. She's not sad or scared, thats just the way she is.
Rachel - There's also a cockapoo in that class. He is the extrovert of the class. He NEVER stops barking http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I love learning about rare breeds. I've been following the development of the Shiloh Shepherd since the 1970's. I finally met some at a rare breed dog show a few years back. I also met the Tibetan Mastiff (which I've been interested in since the '70s, too) and the Leonbergers. Somehow I always come back to GSDs!

I love rare breeds too. The only problem with them is the price!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Aly that dog is beautiful! I also love black-mouthed curs. What a sweet face. Crow Noir, I don't think they look mean at all.

What are or were Black Mouthed Curs used for?
I'm interested in rare breeds like the Shiloh Shepherds and American Tundra Shepherds. I think i heard about them on this board. They are very intelligent and have great temperments. I hope to get one someday! There seem to be a lot of rare herding breeds.

ok, i'm going to try to combine my responses all into this one....sooooo much to say.

shiloh shepherds. ever since i seen my first one i was in love. of course nothing comes in between me and my love of german shepherds.

the tibetan mastiffs seem neat. jeeze!, i wish i could spend a week meeting every dog breed in the world. heck, i think i'd need at least a month to get to know each one.
www.americantundrashepherd.com (http://www.americantundrashepherd.com)

the history of gsds are included on this site too. shocking to many and alot will even say it is all lies even when akc records back it up. it only makes me happier about the breed.

i really liked american tundra shepherds, but then i saw the "good" breed club is trying to breed agressivness into them, and they condem the back yard breeders who want a more natural dog, one w/ out agressivness; i decided no way and kept searching for a breed w/ not as messed up a breeding history. what i found was the Saarloos wolfhounden. i'd have to meet a few first to be able to say this, but i don't think i'd ever want another breed again. looking at profiles of all the breeds i can, this ones sounds like it would fit me perfectly. (now to get the acerage...lol)

as for the wonderful black mouth curs, i'll try to get the exact page i seen and fell in love w/ them on.
