Ok, I've tried sticky tape. He walks on it like it's not there. Tin foil, he walks on it like it's not there. INfact tried to eat it. Shook a can w/ coins. Looked at me like I was stupid. The only thing that works is spraying with water. But that's when we're awake. I don't know how many times we squirt him a day. He just does not give up. I may have to move a litter box into our bedroom and lock him up in there with us.

OK, my stupid question is: Why is it a problem if he walks on the counters? Unless he is breaking things, etc.
Get some germ-killing spray and give the counter top a good wipe before you use it.
You'll get a little more sleep that way. And he might get bored from lack of attention and give up! :)

Just give up -- he wins. Sorry, but multi-cat households are laughing at you about this one ;) The more you fight it the worse he'll get about it since he knows its an "off limits" thing. If you really want to stop him, remove EVERYTHING from the counter before you leave the kitchen. He'll soon figure out that there's nothing of interest up there.... but then again you run the risk of him deciding the clear counter space is a lovely spot to stretch out on :p
My guys can get up on the counters if they wanted to but they have no interest in doing so since there's nothing up there but the occasional dirty dish. I never, ever see them on the counters, with Abby being the only exception. I love seeing Abby on the counter by the window, which technically isn't a counter, but rather a storage cabinet. She sits there staring out the window all day looking like an Egyptian statue.

I let ashley up there. She's interested in just being there. Jake tries to get food. He got the loaf of bread down while we were gone and then runner got it from him lol. We've learned to put the bread in cabinet lol. He gets up there looking for food. He has access to kitty food and he eats that. But he's always looking for better ;) We do have dishes on counter. I do them once a day, so theres always a few up there. I just hope he doesn't knock any down.

Sparkle goes up on the counter when she wants attention; and boy! does it work! She gets my attention FAST! Unfortunately, I then realize she has been trying to get my attention for awhile, and I was ignoring her (reading a good book, folding the laundry, whatever) so I figure out what she wants and she gets it. Which means . . . I am rewarding her for getting on the counter. So who's training whom here?

Felix gets up on the counter as well.I don't mind it really. He sits looking into the sink,he is facinated with the water that drips from the tap,He especially goes bonkers when I let the dish water drain(I now wait for him before I unplug the sink) :p He don't be any trouble but there was that one time when I returned home I found my cake on the floor.I guess he was facinated with the sound the plastic container made when he touched it,either that or he had a sweet tooth that day LOL. ;) I just wipe the counter before using it...no biggie :)

My cats aren't allowed on the counters or the kitchen table and they know it! We used the spray bottle and squirt them with water when we saw them up there. It didn't take long before they knew they weren't supposed to be up there. I'd keep up with that method, it may work yet.

Taz is not "allowed" on the kitchen counter and I never SEE him up there. We have a glass stove top and I always see little foot prints on the glass. But there's nothing I can do if I don't catch him in the act. There is nothing he can get into up there, but Bruce doesn't like it.....oh well. :p

My guys NEVER get on counters, tables or my wide windowsills. They sleep only on the cat furniture, use their scratching posts and NEVER anything else! They come when called, take baths and pills and wormings willingly and happily............................
Ok so that part is my nightly Dreamscape..........reality, they are on the tables and counters when I am not looking...........I cannot blame just one as with 2 blacks and 2 Greys they KNOW I cannot pick one hair out of all that! Only Io is a buff so I know when he does it behind my back! He of course says it is a stray from rubbing on the other 4 and denies the actions vehemently.
We have a good Military background...........I dont ask and they dont Tell! ;)
Besides if I dont ACTUALLY witness it did it really happen???

Groucho knows he's not allowed on the counters when I'm unloading the groceries and especially when I'm cooking. Does that stop him? Of course not! Although when food is being put away or prepared he now gets up on top of the fridge so he can observe and supervise. And he always lets his opinion be known.

The kitties have yet to get on my counters, but the Kitchen table is another story! They seem to think that this is the perfect napping area! They get down when they se they have been caught, so it is not a huge issue. As longas they dont get on it while i am eating, i could care less.:)

The Only Time The Found Cats Will Get On The Porch Is If I Am Taking Too Long Opening Thier Cans Of Food.
Other Than That They Really Have No Intrest At All.
If A Cat Wants To Go There, They Will.

Sunny has never ever jumped up onto any counter in the house. But Jack does, but to be honest I don't really mind. I use anti-bacterial spray when I do the dishes and wipe over the counters and I'm happy with that.
He only likes to see what's up there, it's his curiosity that's all.
And I guess I love him enough to let him do what he wants, if he's happy then I'm happy :D
