Willow got out when hubby opened the front door to get the newspaper. We've been searching for her for 3 hours. It is 23 degrees. Very worried! Please ask your bridge angels to guide her home. http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=115132&highlight=Willy

I talked to the kids standing at the bus stop but none of them had seen her. Hubby saw kitty flashy eyes with the flashlight, but it wasn't her. I had to come in to thaw my toes, post this message and ask for prayers. Now we're off looking again. She is microchipped. With her distinctive lip "dots" we hope that there will be a sighting soon.

Thanks for the postitive thoughts.

Take some food in a cup and shake-shake-shake it as you look for her.

Leave some at the walkway and entrance to your home, too. It will freeze fast but the smell may lure her. With the cold, I can't imagine she went too far!

Good luck!

Willow, get home where it is snuggly and warm, dear girl!!!

Still no sign. We've posted fliers at each house for blocks. Put signs next to the mailboxes. I went to the SPCA and looked in every cage. Filled out a lost pet form. Went through the Dead on Arrival forms. Went to the vet to get the microchip info to add to the SPCA form.

We received 1 phone call from a guy a block away saying he saw her at 7:30 this morning on his neighbor's porch. I went over there shaking her treat container. No sign of her. Talked to the guy (whose porch she was last seen) and he's on the lookout.

It's 28 degrees. Snowing like crazy. I could barely see where I was walking. Hit glare ice, went down like a ton of bricks and broke my glasses. Crawled back home to thaw out and put ice on the goose egg on my knee. Waaaaaaaaaaaah, I want my Willow!

her. :( Take care for yourself as well. :( At least he saw her, hopefully, he
might see her again. Strong prayers for Willow's safe return.

This is one of my biggest fears for my cats too. I have two who seem to
be fascinated with the outside every time I open the door.

Geez, I got my HOPE up so high when I saw "update"... OH NO! She is going to be out in all that tonight?? POOR Willow! Did you leave that guy your phone number so he could call you if he sees her?

Let me ask you here, your vet didn't give you the micro chip stuff to register her number so if she is lost anywhere in the USA, they could find you or your vet? My vet gives me a whole pack of stuff, the thing that you attach to their collar with the number on it, the package inserts with the numbers peel and stick and bar code and the form to register it.

Would the guy let you leave food on the porch for her???

I know you are worried - but think about this - the reason you can't see her is that she has bundled away from the snow. Kitties are good at this...and she was seen ALIVE, as far as anyone knows, right? :)

HUGS HUGS HUGS and PRAYERS...we need Gary's angel squad...

That's how he knew to call us.

We adopted Willow and Willy from Friends of Pets. They already had them microchipped. Our adoption contract stated that Friends of Pets would keep the microchips registered in their name. I got the info from the -====io (sorry, that was Pepper walking across the keyboard) vet so now I can register it myself at the online boards.

How I wish this wasn't happening. If it's any comfort to you, my Boo ran out the door after another cat in the dead of winter, well below zero temperatures and I too fell on the ice and got a goose egg on my knee, just like you did. My son was home for the holidays and we searched for him day and night. He had never been out of the house since I took him in ane he being coal black, we thought we'd easily see him against the white snow. Wrong. That night at exactly midnight, snow coming down by the pound, I was a crying mess, sure that he'd run off and I was lying in bed w/the TV on low volume when I heard a cry outside. I had left the garage door up a few inches so that if he did come back home, he could go into the garage. I ran to the inside door and there he was, sitting on the steps crying. Covered w/mud but safe. Let's affirm that the same thing will happen w/you and Willow.

Blessings,
Mary

Guess who was waiting on the front porch with the newspaper this morning? Yup! Princess Willow is home safe and sound. She strolled in (dragging dried leaves that were stuck to her fluffy tail) and ate a whole can of food and fell asleep.

Unless she decides to write her memoirs some day, I doubt if we find out where she was. I'm just glad to know that she can find her way home (since she hadn't been outside before).

She obviously found a place out of the weather. We received 2 inches of snow last night. Around midnight it was near white-out conditions. Needless to say, no one got much sleep last night. Around 3:00 a.m. I saw kitty tracks in our driveway. I went downstairs and checked the food and bed on the front porch, but nothing had been disturbed. I called for her but never saw/heard her. But, she must have been close by.

Thank you for all your support and prayers. Take us off your worry list! A big THANK YOU to all our bridge babies who helped lead her home!

Well, it's a week later and all is well. Willow shows absolutely no interest in going outside again. Thank Goodness! I was afraid she would become a "door darter" and we'd always have to hold her back.

Also, she picked a pretty good time to go on her adventure. Last week it was 20 degrees above zero (F). This morning it is -21 !! She would not have survived the night no matter how many leaves she found to sleep in.

What a happy ending! Do all of us cat people have stories like this one?

They get out - we stay up all night crying and looking and calling - and more crying and pacing the floor. Then in the morning they stroll in and you don't know whether to strangle them or hug them to pieces. Of course, the hugging wins - but the way they act like "you are the crazy one" and demand their food and then go to sleep..................because THEY are exhausted from a night out.

And of course, we have to go to work - sleep or no sleep.

Ha! I wouldn't trade a one of them for anything.

We may never know for sure all the details of her outdor adventure but what matters now is Willow realizes the best place to be is in her nice warm furever home with those who love her.
